Chapter 18 - Lone Wolf...

Scarlett Fox, who had been watching him closely all this while, frowned the moment she saw him put his hand into the void.

'Void is not a plaything, you fool! You'd be lucky if your hand doesn't get cut or distorted by the void…'

She didn't dare say this aloud. Even though she had an idea of what might happen, curiosity still itched at the edges of her mind. She wanted to see if she was right.

As far as she knew, the only people who could survive direct contact between their skin and the void—or space itself—were Soulers with spatial-affinity beast souls. And even then, survival was only possible after they had fused with their beast soul.

Skills like Teleportation, and other spatial techniques, required direct interaction with the void. To teleport, they would have to temporarily defy the laws of the universe—tearing through space itself. That was why, unless a Souler's proficiency in spatial manipulation was advanced, they couldn't teleport living things. Even non-living things were at risk. Some ended up distorted beyond recognition.

But for living beings, direct contact with the void meant one thing—death.

A Souler with poor spatial control might teleport and find their clothing torn to shreds—or even worse, arrive naked, the fabric destroyed by spatial friction. That was why, unlike the other elements, Soulers with spatial affinity treated their element with reverence.

It was not child's play.

But even then, almost everything came down to proficiency and efficiency. Despite the superiority of their element, spatial affinity Soulers could still fall in battle if they lacked control or precision.

Scarlett Fox remained still, her seductive figure crouched like a feline, as she watched Lone Wolf dip his hand into the void—then swiftly yank it out.

She sneered at him with quiet contempt. 'You dare gamble with your life like that? Are you mad?'

But then her sneer faltered. Her crimson lips parted in shock.

Lone Wolf—without hesitation—unsheathed his sword. And then, he cut off his own hand.

'What the hell is he up to!?' Her beautiful face contorted in disbelief and confusion.

But it didn't stop there. Just after slicing off his own hand, Lone Wolf began to glow. His body pulsed with radiant energy.

'He's fusing with his beast soul… but what's the point now? Wait—no… can it be?' Her thoughts froze as something unbelievable happened.

A new hand sprouted from the stump—clean, flawless, and natural. As though nothing had ever happened. Her eyes widened. This… this was beyond her expectations.

'He has a beast soul with a healing ability!?'

No wonder he had the guts to make contact with the void.

Only someone with such an absurd regenerative power would dare take such a risk.

'So that's it... he's dangerous—very dangerous. Here I was thinking of getting rid of him after Lancelot, but now… with this kind of healing ability, fighting him would be a nightmare!'

She bit her lip, her eyes narrowing. Meanwhile, Lone Wolf smirked slightly. He knew what she must be thinking.

Scarlett Fox had probably started feeling cocky the moment she got her hands on Lancelot. The idea of eliminating the others and keeping the bounty for herself must have already taken root in her mind.

But he wanted to remind her—no matter how strong someone thinks they are, there's always someone stronger. This little show of strength… this was his way of killing the thought before it bloomed.

She needed to understand that she couldn't eliminate any of them. If it came down to it, Scar alone could end her before she even realized what happened.

Each of the Seven Hunters had hidden trump cards—abilities that could turn the tide of any battle in their favor. And Lone Wolf wanted her to know that.

Once his new hand had fully regenerated, Lone Wolf examined it calmly. The hand was flawless—no scars, no blemish. Unless someone was told, they wouldn't know he had cut off his own hand just moments ago.

He flexed his fingers once… then turned slowly toward Scarlett Fox. His expression darkened.

His voice was deep and cold. "Where is Void? What happened to him?"

He already had his guesses, but he wanted to hear it from her lips.

Scarlett Fox stiffened, her mouth dry. She could feel the weight behind those words. After witnessing his regenerative power firsthand, Lone Wolf's presence felt different—heavy, commanding. Every word he spoke now sounded like a decree from a king.

She swallowed nervously. A single question echoed in her head: 'Does he know I broke the contract?'

The bounty hunters weren't a team by default. They only joined forces due to the urgency of the mission—and because their target was a Four-Star Souler.

They had all made a temporary agreement: to help one another when needed.

Scarlett Fox had been there. She saw Void battling Lancelot—and she chose not to help. Now, she couldn't stop wondering if Lone Wolf knew about her betrayal.

The way he looked at her—it felt like he could peer into her soul, like he could see all her secrets.

She shuddered slightly and responded in a low, nervous voice.

"I-I don't know what happened to him… but judging from the scene, he's likely dead." Her voice trembled.

Lone Wolf narrowed his eyes. He could tell she was hiding something.

He frowned slightly.

'What is she hiding from us?'

Though he sensed her deception, he didn't push further.

Whatever secret she was keeping—he would uncover it eventually.

And when he did… he just hoped it wouldn't be the kind that put all their lives at risk.
