The order has been given, capture the rebel weapons and capture Ceaser. An incentive was also given, ten gold coins for each weapon recovered and a whooping five thousand gold bounty as reward for capturing Ceaser alive. Now tactics has been eradicated and replaced with greed which turned into chaos. Even the elite Calvary of the undertakers couldn't resist the mouthwatering bounty that was placed before them.
What then happened, was a rush of thirty two thousand men both infantry and Calvary charging towards Patagonia. These men who were once in shock after witnessing their allies death abandoned all reasoning, self preservation and common sense, charging towards a land whose sole reason for existence is the total destruction of any threat to their existence.
As soon as they entered what the defense force described as 'the point of death', cannon fire plowed through their lines, punching through bodies, the blast from the exploding shells burning and tearing through human flesh just the way a starved crocodile tears through flesh. But there was no stopping, armed with greed , they ran toward like a tidal wave of bodies rushing to rip apart the defense force.
Normally the defense force was supposed to be in fear for the moment that were not , as they witnessed first hand the carnage that was occuring within enemy lines.
Two hundred and fifty cannons shooting approximately seven hundred and fifty to eight hundred shots per minute violated the ranks of the Blackthorn soldiers, pilling and littering bodies and body parts all around the battlefield. Some of them due to the the psychological terror of the canon sounds soiled themselves, some even cried out for their mothers to save them further adding to the demoralizing of the troops. Causing a rout , friendly soldiers trampled on each other for an opportunity to escape the death zone.
This time the cannons were slowly being moved forward firing nothing but canister shots that spread round through the battlefield like a net, a very destructive net . There was no opportunity to surrender , and that was if their surrender was going to be accepted at all.
Ceaser sat atop his horse looking at the carnage that was unfolding before him with a smile on his face , a mad man who listened the screaming of dying men as if it was a symphony of musical instruments.
" Half cannon fire." He ordered, " the rest of you move forward, kill anything that is still moving."
They now emerged from the trenches and rushed , no they did not rush . The men before them were just moving targets. They walked after the fleeing army shooting and killing them just like animals that were brought to slaughter.
And the expression of the defense force was just pure exhilaration, a large army that could have brought even some nations to their knees has just been defeated by them and their weapons. Now even the carefully built trench seemed unnecessary at the moment.
Count Bataglia and Baron Goodman watched in horror as their men were being wasted by the rebel forces. And when it looked like the rebels would reach them , they took what remained of their forces and fled into the hills .
After pursuing them for a while, they were ordered to stop and to clear the battlefield, picking up used shells , enemy armor and weapons and also burning the bodies thoroughly in a makeshift furnace and spreading the ashes in the surrounding forest.
Now that this battle was over, Ceaser wished that the empire would at least give them breathing space, but that would be wishful thinking. But regardless, he still planned to embark on a fortification project that would allow for sustainable progress within the town and would be able to witstand a siege if there was any .
This particular battle if one could call it that lasted for exactly forty four minutes, but the enemy was sure to adapt and might even start producing their own firearms to counter their own.
Also the rain was going to start very soon, and one of a smooth bore cannons worst nightmare, is rain or getting wet, this was the case for most black powder weapons.
For now he needed to build a wall to act as a buffer between him and any army so that while the empire is wasting their time attacking the town he will be making extraordinary progress.
When Cesar walked into town the received a very monumental message, the steam engine had been built. This month that the town of Patagonia had just walked into the industrial age and with the age of industry the limit of progress is just dependent on the state of mind.
Caesar's plan now was to incorporate the steam engine in the various industries in the rebel town of Patagonia. Immediately he started drawing of blueprints for the conveyor belt which would help increase production and safe time full stop to convert could be incorporated into various industries like mining , the furnace, in farming and could even be used in making clothes. This age of steam was going to be the backbone and the slingshots that will catapult Patagonia into an entirely different age of great technology and progress.
But before Caesar could do anything concerning the steam engine he had something that he needed to take care of. He made his way to the area where the prisoners of war were being kept and asked that all the prisoners with the exception of the Bataglias to be released into the prison court yard. These prisoners here were all those who had been captured by Ceaser from the beginning till today , except that for today, no prisoners were taken.
When Ceaser stood in front of these men who numbered about three hundred , he gazed at them, his piercing green eyes seemingly staring deep into their souls. He produced a pouch and poured the contents all over the floor, it was all ash.
" This are the ashes of the men who attacked us after I gave them a choice." Ceaser said, his tone calm , normal as if he was talking to friends.
" Now I give you a choice, offer me your lives, your bodies tools for my use. Bend the knee to me and live or I can offer you a place amongst the ashes of my enemies."
