"A flame, once ignited, cannot be extinguished, for it consumes everything in its path."

The room felt colder than it ever had before. Moria stood in the center of the chamber, her body still trembling from the intense surge of power. The Heart of the Sleeping Flame had fused with her very essence, and now, she could feel the heat within her, burning like a second pulse in her chest. Every breath was a reminder of the dangerous path she had chosen.
Li Yuan and Jiang remained at her side, their expressions a mix of concern and awe. They had seen her face the flames, but they had not expected the aftermath to be so… unsettling.
"Moria," Li Yuan spoke gently, his voice low and hesitant. "Are you certain you're alright?"
She turned to him, her eyes glowing faintly with an unnatural light. The raw power within her made her feel alive in ways she never had before. She could feel the strength coursing through her veins, her senses heightened, her instincts sharper. But she also felt… different. The balance she had once held over herself was slipping.
"I'm fine," she said, her voice steady, though there was a distant quality to it, as though she wasn't entirely in control of her own words. "I just need to… adjust."
Jiang looked at her warily. "Adjust? Moria, this power… it's not something we can control. Not easily."
Moria's gaze hardened. She understood his concern, but she wasn't about to back down now. She had always known that the Heart came with a price, but she hadn't anticipated the weight it would place on her shoulders. But now, there was no turning back. She had claimed it. She would learn to wield it.
"I didn't come here for an easy path," Moria said quietly. "I came for power."
Jiang's expression softened, but he said nothing. He knew there was no reasoning with her once she set her mind to something.
Li Yuan, ever the pragmatist, took a step closer to Moria. "We need to leave. The others will be coming soon, and we can't afford to linger here much longer."
Moria nodded, though her mind was elsewhere. She could feel the Heart pulsing within her, like a living thing, and she could sense the shift in the air around them. There was something in this place—something ancient—that had stirred in response to her claim of the Heart.
Suddenly, the ground beneath them trembled, and a low growl echoed through the chamber. Jiang's eyes widened in alarm. "We're not alone."
Moria's heart raced as the temperature in the room dropped. She could feel a presence—dark and powerful—approaching. It wasn't just the Heart that had been awakened. Something else had sensed their arrival.
Before anyone could react, a figure emerged from the shadows at the far end of the chamber. It was tall and cloaked in darkness, its features hidden beneath a hood. The figure's movements were graceful, but there was an unmistakable menace in the way it moved.
"Well, well," the figure's voice was smooth, almost mocking. "It seems I'm not the only one who's been drawn to the Heart."
Moria's hand instinctively went to the sword at her side. "Who are you?"
The figure chuckled, a low, chilling sound. "I am someone who has been waiting for the right moment to claim what is mine. But it seems the Heart has chosen you, little one."
Moria's eyes narrowed. She could feel the darkness emanating from this stranger, and the aura around them was heavy with intent.
"Stay back," Moria warned, her voice tinged with the authority of someone who had just gained immense power. "I don't know who you are, but I'm not giving up the Heart."
The figure took a step forward, their presence overwhelming. "You misunderstand, child. I'm not here to take the Heart from you. I'm here to offer you a deal."
"Deal?" Moria scoffed. "I don't deal with people like you."
The figure smiled beneath the hood, their teeth sharp and predatory. "You would be wise to listen, Moria. The Heart you hold is but a fraction of what you could possess. With my help, you could unlock its full potential—unleash powers beyond your imagination."
Moria took a step back, her hand tightening on her sword. "I don't need your help. I have my own path to follow."
The figure's smile faded, replaced by an expression of dark amusement. "Very well. But remember this—there are forces in this world far older than even the Heart itself. You cannot fight them alone."
With that, the figure turned and began to walk away, their form dissolving into the shadows from which they came. The air seemed to return to its normal temperature, but the unsettling feeling lingered.
Li Yuan stepped forward, his eyes scanning the now empty chamber. "Who was that?"
Moria remained silent for a moment, her gaze fixed on the spot where the figure had stood. "I don't know," she murmured, more to herself than to anyone else. "But I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of them."
Jiang, ever the skeptic, frowned. "This is getting more complicated by the minute."
Moria took a deep breath, her mind racing with the implications of their encounter. Whoever that figure was, they knew far more than they had let on. And their offer—though tempting—was not something Moria could accept. Not yet, at least.
As they made their way out of the chamber, Moria could feel the Heart still pulsing within her. She had gained a great power, but it was also a heavy burden. And now, it seemed, there were others who sought to claim it or control it.
Moria knew one thing for sure: her journey was far from over. In fact, it had only just begun.
