Chapter 3 - Devil's game

Eliza coughed a mouthful of blood, her body was torn apart, she had only one hand, the other seemed to have been blown off.

Her companions were all laying on the harsh ground that resembled a battle zone; there was no indication of vitality in their bodies, and if there was, it would vanish quickly. She helped herself up, despite the anguish from the fresh cut, which poured blood continuously and showed no signs of clotting anytime soon.

Above her, the source of all disaster stared at her with a merciless expression.

Eliza mustered her last strength and crawled to her greatest friend, whose skin had been entirely burned off; she now resembled a zombie rather than the exquisite beauty of the Lee family. She drew her into her arms and kissed her on the forehead; her saliva carried a blue light that entered her skin deep into her body.

Hmm, she is dying. Sharing your lifelong fighting qi will not help her.

Eliza's eyes burned with rage; this talking sin had dared to irritate her. She set Harper's body aside and got up, pointing a contemptuous finger at the demon kid, who was plainly not a child but a devil-possessed person.

So, it was you who always told me to never give up on finding out how my mother died but why?

A brat who talks too much.

He swung his fist, producing a scarlet flame that blazed in all directions, cutting off eliza's arm

I am a living divinity, and you are a worthless mortal attempting to save your mother from torment, therefore you have no right to point your figure at me. In an attempt to circumvent the law, you have upset me in the same way that your mother did, which is why I kind of sent her away.

Eliza's eyes widened just thinking about it; this demon did, in fact, know something about her mother, but why.

What did you do to my mother, you de....

Eliza did not complete the sentence since she was bodyless and her body parts were strewn over the place like trash. This creature's scary strength was this top pinnacle; he was undoubtedly someone who would rule the world. His rage was so intense that it broke Eliza's body like glass.

The demon child pointed his index finger to Eliza's leg, which was resting on a stone. It was a fractured skeletal structure with some dark, burned flesh instead of a leg. Eliza's entire body started to dissolve, turning into a liquid that slithered like snakes to her legs as if he were rebuilding her.

It was astounding because Eliza would breathe again in a matter of seconds and all of her bodily parts were undamaged; it seemed as though nothing had ever occurred to her, save for the fact that her allies were still in a dreadful situation.

When Eliza first looked at her hands, she realized that she had them back and that they were pain-free.

She looked up at the devil child, her anger palpable .

You, do you think I am afraid of you, I dare you freak.

Haven't you got such a big mouth.

It outstretched his hand towards her as if summoning her, eliza could always feel the weight of the devil child's power against her body , then clenched its fist, this instantly pulled Eliza off the ground into the air just below the devil child.

In a split second, he was constantly in front of her, hovering just over her due to his lesser stature from being eight years old.

He lifted Eliza's chin slightly to face her with his finger without making contact with her body.

Curiously, I assumed that everything would be the same as usual this time. Just like your mother even though she was somehow difficult to deal with.

Eliza attempted to fight back, but it appeared that all of her spiritual strength had been sapped from her body; she was no weaker than a regular person now, and she was like an ant sitting on an elephant's foot, ready to be crushed.

Clearly taking pleasure in Eliza's predicament, he remarked mockingly, "Oh, you are furious, I am so terrified."

Don't worry, I Will be a good boy for once and send you to meet your mother.

He slashed through the air with a finger, and the smallest movement tore space apart, causing the ripped space to erupt forth. Its force was scary and keen; it swiftly tore off Eliza's head, swallowed her body whole, and then closed.

Hehe, humans are such funny people.

The devil child snapped his fingers, their contact releasing a red flame that flew up towards the sky like fireworks then erupted with a terrifying explosion that tore space apart once again.

Eliza soared out of the portal, falling freely from the sky till she landed with a thump, since a mortal falling from such a height would not leave her unharmed. The side of her head was bleeding freely, and the jagged rock that had punctured her was still partially within her body.

She couldn't even move, her vision was already blurring and soon she might go unconscious.

Get up mortal, don't you want to know more about your mother ", the devil child growled from the sky, his voice echoing through out the entire surrounding like thunder. Clearly it was trying to provoke her, but this was her mission, she had already spent five years of her life trying to find out how her mother miserably died. She had already undertaken so many risks, this wasn't the first but somehow it seemed the last.

She tried to get up from ground, but just slight movement made her unconscious.

Without even flinching, the wicked kid looming above her sighed and nodded his head, perhaps anticipating that she would suffer much more. Why pass away so quickly when the game was still in progress was a huge letdown, particularly as things were starting to grow more intriguing.

Humans are such a headache to us gods, they never stop begging but I am the god of death, I offer death not life.

Even though the demon kid appeared like a zombie who had been slumbering for thousands of years, he still had certain human-like characteristics as he gazed up at the black sky and took a deep breath.

Eliza's body showed signs of life, with her chest heaving up and down, but how long would she live after losing so much blood? She was covered in her own blood, like a corpse on a battlefield.

No one could keep track of how many days had gone by since Eliza's blackout, but the demon kid was still carelessly drifting in midair. The sky was still dark with nimbus clouds pouring rain on the terrain.

Maybe because of the painful water droplet that fell on her skin that give her unprecedented discomfort, Eliza's body shifted slightly to the right.

A smile tucked at the corners of the child's lips.

Finally, the game continues.

He laughed ominously, as if relishing the situation, his posture rigid with arms crossed defensively.

However, it appeared that Eliza was not completely awake, as her body reverted to its original position.

He leaned forward slightly, straining to understand what was going on.

He obviously questioned himself, "what the heck is going on?" with a hint of exasperation in his voice. The self-assured demon was disappointed.

He elevated his palm towards Eliza, summoning her with an invisible force. He did not desire anything from her; what could a human give a god? If it wasn't just for fun that he acted in such a way.

It seems I don't have time, but I would have liked seeing you suffer human.

He drove his razor-sharp fingers into Eliza's chest piercing it before it popped like a balloon under pressure, he continued his finger deeper into her skin then pulled it out and locked it
