As a disciple of the sword master Atomic Samurai, Bushidrill considered himself one of the top in the path of the sword—at least aside from a few old legends. Yet now, the armored gorilla he had fought so fiercely had been beheaded in a single strike by a boy who looked barely in his teens.
And this wasn't brute strength. Nor was it simply a superior weapon.
Even after the boy had vanished, Bushidrill could still feel the overwhelming sword intent radiating from the hundred-meter-long slash in the earth.
That intent... it was like a monarch who had conquered endless lands, full of overwhelming and unmatched dominance. It suppressed the entire stretch of earth it had scarred.
Bushidrill gulped. Just looking at that lingering aura sent chills through his body.
He was sure now: this boy's mastery of swordsmanship was already on par with his master—Atomic Samurai.
"Just who raised this monster…? I've never heard of him at all!"
Beside him, Fubuki muttered in shock.
That sword strike... it reminded her of the one that had cleaved the Deep Sea King in half during the previous disaster. The same air, the same terrifying might.
She stared at the spot where the boy had disappeared.
She was almost certain now.
"The one who killed the Deep Sea King before... was also him!"
No matter what, this boy had saved her twice now.
Moments later, Bushidrill's two fellow disciples arrived—A-Class Rank 2 Iaiand Rank 3 Okamaitachi.
When they saw the sword scar in the ground and felt its immense sword aura, they were dumbfounded.
"Did you do this?"
"No way!"
"Was it Master?"
"No... doesn't feel like his style."
"Maybe one of those old guys from the Council of Swordmasters?"
They glanced at Bushidrill and immediately ruled out the first possibility. They knew his level too well. Even with some breakthrough in combat, this was far beyond his capacity.
In their minds, only some ancient sword masters might be capable of such destruction.
"You're all wrong. It was a young boy we've never seen before," Bushidrill said with a complicated expression.
The two were stunned. "You hit your head or something?"
Atomic Samurai was already the greatest sword talent in the world, and even he had only reached his level after decades. A boy? What kind of freakish genius could possibly match that?
Bushidrill didn't bother to explain. Even he wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes.
Iaian walked over to the gorilla's corpse, examining the cut on its arm and torso. The sharpness and precision were terrifying.
"Doesn't matter if it's a kid or an old monster. Anyone who can one-shot a demon-level monster is inhuman."
He took a deep breath.
Meanwhile, Fubuki and Bushidrill began reporting back to the Hero Association.
"Yes, confirmed demon-level strength…"
"Killed by a passing teenage boy before we could arrive."
"The Deep Sea King from a few days ago might've been killed by him too," Fubuki added.
The bonus and merit for killing a demon-level monster were significant. If that boy ever joined the Association, this would count as past achievements.
"Maybe this could even earn some goodwill from him…"
Fubuki thought silently.
"Understood. I'll report it. Any other intel?" the operator on the communicator asked.
Bushidrill suddenly recalled the final exchange between the boy and the gorilla.
"Oh right. The gorilla mentioned being part of an organization!"
"Called the House of Evolution. The location is..."
"The House of Evolution?!"
The operator's startled voice came through the comms.
Fubuki and the others exchanged glances. Something felt off.
Did they just catch a big fish?
...
Kanaogawa Prefecture.
On one of the busiest streets downtown, not a soul could be seen.
Explosions echoed beneath the skyscrapers. Fire and shockwaves shattered countless windows.
"Incineration Cannon!"
A terrifying energy blast reduced an entire building to rubble. Only then did the chaos start to fade.
"It's over…"
Genos exhaled slowly.
From under the debris, a figure regenerated at an incredible pace. In just seconds, its upper body reformed.
"Damn demon-level monsters are hard to kill…"
Despite his cold tone, Genos was unsettled—not by the monster, but by the man.
Zombieman.
S-Class Rank 8 Hero.
Throughout the battle, this man had been dismembered dozens of times—even had his head blown off twice—yet recovered each time within seconds.
Immortality and limitless stamina.
Genos believed that even without his help, the monster would've eventually exhausted itself trying to kill Zombieman.
Zombieman looked at Genos with a faint trace of kindness on his usually cold face.
"You're that demon cyborg making waves online lately, huh? Haven't joined the Association?"
Genos shook his head coolly. "Name's Genos. I don't need to be a pro hero to protect people."
Then, unable to resist, he asked, "Are all S-Class heroes as… unusual as you?"
Zombieman shook his head. "They're way stronger than me. I just don't die easily."
Compared to others in the S-Class, his strength came from his weapons and sheer resilience—not pure power.
Then, his communicator buzzed.
The commander's serious voice came through.
"Zombieman, we've located the House of Evolution's base!"
Zombieman's expression immediately turned grim.
...
Hero Association HQ.
Commander Sekingar convened an emergency meeting.
"The House of Evolution!"
"According to Zombieman's intel, this is a biotech lab established a century ago by the genius Dr. Genus."
"It's said he even overcame the limits of human life—and now focuses on creating ultra-powerful monsters."
"That armored gorilla at Haneoka Academy was one of their creations."
"There's strong reason to believe they've set their sights on Hoshinoumi Academy, attempting to abduct young ability users before they awaken…"
"Vote now—should we eliminate the House of Evolution?"
As Sekingar finished, the corporate board members lit up.
Their minds were focused on one thing: immortality.
Such groundbreaking technology couldn't be wasted!
"Eliminate them—immediately!"
"Evil scientists like him threaten public safety!"
"Send two—no, three—S-Class heroes to guarantee the mission's success!"
"Dr. Genus is clearly twisted… but the tech is innocent. Be sure to preserve the research. For the good of humanity, of course."
Sekingar nodded without surprise.
He knew how greedy these board members were beneath their righteous facades.
Still, the Association had good reason to act.
Targeting Hoshinoumi Academy made the House of Evolution an enemy.
And if they could support that mysterious boy—who might be heading to the lab now—they could gain his favor.
A boy who could kill demon-level monsters with ease... was clearly S-Class material.
Sekingar quickly began dispatching heroes.
Most S-Class heroes were busy. In the end, only Zombieman and Tanktop Master were available.
"Two S-Classes, plus Genos, who's not far off from S-Class."
"Add in Atomic Samurai's three disciples and the Fubuki Group..."
"With some nearby A and B-Class heroes, this should be enough!"
The mission was issued immediately.
...
House of Evolution Research Facility.
Dr. Genus sat before a monitor, replaying the footage recorded by the armored gorilla and mole monster.
"One strike cut through that alloy like butter…"
He adjusted his glasses.
"That wasn't just swordsmanship. His physical strength must be insane."
No one could break his iron-alloy armor without monstrous force.
"Coming to take revenge?"
Dr. Genus chuckled.
"Saves me the trouble of hunting him down."
He clapped his hands.
A clone identical to him entered the room.
"Activate all defenses."
"Let the Beast King guard the entrance."
"And send Mosquito Girl out for a blood test. Let's see how she performs."
Dr. Genus leaned back in his chair, waiting for his prey to walk into the trap.
What he didn't expect—
Was that Kuzeha was arriving far faster than he could imagine.
