It's Monday—my first day off since I started working at the cafe. Normally, I'd sleep in, groggy and unwilling to move, but today I wake up even before my alarm. I lie in bed for a moment, just blinking at the ceiling, already feeling this quiet buzz of excitement humming under my skin.
I'm going out with Noah today.
Okay. Not like goingout going out. But we're going to the animal shelter together. He said he wanted to get a dog, and he asked if I wanted to come along. I said yes so fast, I didn't even let myself think about it.
Now I'm thinking about it. Too much.
I shower and spend more time picking my outfit than I want to admit. I go for my best go-to casual look—something that says, "I'm effortlessly cool and totally not overthinking this". I even dig out a matching scarf, the one that makes my eyes stand out a little more. I haven't worn it in months.
