Sunny did not mention the centipedes for no reason; the scout was on the lookout for the new foes. His eyes down, carving his prey, while his shadows observed the beasts, the three centipedes emerged from the cavernous cracks in their homes. Leaving the ridged growths of rocks to the smell of freshly spilled blood and carved meat.
"They're coming," Sunny announced, tossing the soul shard from his first kill towards Nephis. His head now faced where the small platoon of arachnids would emerge from. Nephis caught the shard and crushed it between her grasp; a pour of glimmering light entered her soul.
The legacy nodded, following Sunny's gaze. Her irises burned brighter with anticipation. Kade perked up slightly, hopping off the makeshift chair that was the scavenger's corpse. Joining his comrades in staring menacingly into the distance.
'I don't know why they're doing this...But might as well join,' Kade mused, his mood on a high. Although he hadn't received any memories from the scavengers, he had finally absorbed a soul fragment from his defeated foe, the first of many.
Soul Fragments: 4/1000
Apart from his sacrifice of the awakened commander, it was his first shard. It was a long way to fulfill his core, yet Kade knew that he could accomplish it. And even go beyond that.
He thought humans were supposed to only have one core, yet with the hints gifted from [Embodied Wrath], it mentioned that it would increase pairs of limbs with more cores. So that most likely meant he could go beyond what any person could do.
From a beast to a titan, he just had to fulfill his cores—and gain more and more power.
Even the tiny amount of strength he received from the single shard gifted him a chance to look at the opportunity of fulfilling his soul. It became a new goal for the voracious brawler.
- While the rest of the group prepared themselves, Sandra wiped the blood from her face, her bright orange hair matted with viscera. Using the wind as a slight aid to braid the leftover blood and chitin out.
Her nervousness fading away as confidence took its place, she was a warrior who demanded some respect, scavengers or centipede alike. She had proven herself a fighter beyond most of her peers—with that, she would escape this hellhole, back to reality.
She reached forward, and reality shimmered, a memory— Summoning a conch seashell, she tightly grasped its shell and traced her finger over the intricate weaving construct. She gently raised it, ignoring the incoming threat, and put it to her ear.
The rustling bustle of NQC echoing out, the hustling servants and chatter of her clan whistling by, and the clashing of dulled swords echoing through the soundscape. Sandra felt herself immersed in the opera of familiarity.
It brought a sense of home, a feeling she had never grasped at on this forgotten shore. She was ready to prove herself beyond belief, yet she was still a child... Left with only her peers, among dangers far greater than she could handle.
She had already watched two of her allies 'fall, and the possibility of her being next clawed at her when she tried to find peace.
There was only one person who could comfort her at a time like this, and he was far beyond where she could ever reach.
The faint image of a broad-shouldered man, his prickly chin, and warm smile. A sense of knowledge and experience that always made her feel safe...
"I'll see you soon, Father..." Sandra whispered, her words whispering away silently on the wind. She prepared herself mentally and gathered herself up from the floor. Taking a deep breath before joining her fellow sleepers.
