Rui's eyes widened. Kee Kee made a choking sound.
"Excuse me?" Rui spluttered.
"My private chambers," Ran clarified, his tone matter-of-fact.
"It's the only place in the Celestial Realm where we won't be disturbed. The wards I've placed there will mask your energy completely."
"Your... bedroom," Rui repeated skeptically.
"Unless you'd prefer to awaken your celestial powers in the middle of the library, when the guards return?" Ran gestured toward the door.
"I'm sure that would be quite the spectacle."
Kee Kee growled. "This better not be some weird celestial pickup line."
"Please," Ran scoffed.
"If I wanted to seduce someone, I wouldn't invite a tiny, irritating fur demon as a chaperone."
Rui and Kee Kee followed Ran through a series of winding corridors, each more secluded than the last.
"So these prophetic powers of yours," she ventured. "How exactly do they work?"
Ran's shoulders tensed slightly, but he continued walking.
