(Author's Note)
Just a quick correction—earlier, I mentioned that it was eleven wins in a row, but it should actually be ten. The upcoming matches are still against Blazing Academy, Canghui (Blue Sunshine), Tianshui, Thunderclap, and finally Godwind Academy.
In total there would be 27 matches in the preliminary round. One team fights against all other twenty-seven team? I think so.
In the donghua, it's stated that fifteen teams advance to the promotion round, and Shrek fights Blazing Academy in their 11th match, not earlier. The Tian Duo Imperial Academy's first Team didn't participate in the preleminary round and went straight to the final round. So, counting Emperor Team it's fifteen teams total.
**************************************************
High above the arena, two flying-type agility attack system members, Huo Yu and Huo Yun, hovered like twin blazing comets. Their wings of flame crackled as they took position over their teammates, ready to guard from aerial assaults.
On the ground, team captain Huo Wu stood confidently at the center of the front line. Her Fire Shadow Martial Soul pulsed with heat, four glowing spirit rings circling around her like blazing suns.
Beside her stood Huo Wushuang, his One-Horned Fire Dragon Martial Soul radiating fiery pressure. Like his sister, he was a Soul Ancestor, and the two flanked their formation with confidence, shielding the support member behind them.
Huo Wushuang let out a smug chuckle.
"If your martial soul were anything other than plant-type, we might've been in real trouble. But lucky for me—your luck just ran out."
Huo Wu raised her hand, eyes blazing with fire.
"Everyone—attack!"
At her command, Blazing Academy unleashed hellfire. Fireballs the size of boulders and roaring dragons of flame shot through the air in waves. The arena lit up with blazing heat as flames rained down like a fiery storm—all were aimed straight at Tang Yin and the members of Lanba Team.
But Tang Yin didn't flinch.
He knew the girls could handle themselves—their agility allowed them to weave through the barrage with ghost-like precision. But two others… well, not so much.
Dai Mubai and Tai Long were tough, sure—but dodging wasn't their strong suit.
With a sigh, Tang Yin lashed out his Blue Silver King, wrapping the thick vines around both of them just in time.
"Not today," he muttered. "I'm not letting your hairy asses get roasted black and ruin our team's reputation."
The flames did almost nothing to the Blue Silver King. Its resilient vines resisted and devoured all the lingering soul power, leaving Dai Mubai and Tai Long completely unharmed.
Gasps echoed through the stands.
Huo Wu and Huo Wushuang stood frozen in disbelief, eyes wide as their powerful fire attacks were effortlessly neutralized. They had expected at least one member of the opposing team to be taken down—but not a single hit landed.
Still stunned, Huo Wushuang turned to his sister, mouth slightly agape, spoke hesitantly,
"Maybe it's a soul skill that counters fire? His martial soul is plant-type… maybe he boosted its resistance by absorbing fire-resistant soul beasts?"
Huo Wu snapped out of her daze, though she remained skeptical of her brother's reasonable explanation. Even so, she quickly encouraged her Team members and gave the next order.
"Attack again!!"
Once more, fireballs rained from above. But just like before, the Lanba girls weaved through the flames almost effortlessly, their movement technique looking light and ghostly.
Meanwhile, Tang Yin once again casually wrapped Dai Mubai and Tai Long in his Blue Silver King vines, bundling them like Chinese dumplings.
The result? Still completely unharmed.
Emperor Xue Ye was surprised to see the Blue Silver King's resistance to fire and turned to Ning Fengzhi for advice. Nearby, Salas perked up, eager to obtain more information for free.
"It must be a martial soul mutation!" Ning Fengzhi declared, putting everyone's doubts to rest.
The crowd nodded in agreement—after all, Wuhun sometimes mutated unpredictably, like Yu Xiaogang's unfortunate change, while others, like Tang Yin's, mutated for the better. Tang Yin's strength was undeniable proof.
Mutation was well-known among soul masters—capable of granting unexpected traits like elemental resistance. And now, Tang Yin's Blue Silver King clearly showed signs of fire resistance far beyond normal plant spirits.
Then came Tang Yin's sharp command.
"Rongrong, time to shine! Boost Dai Mubai and Meng Yiran's strength and soul power!"
On the other side, Huo Wushuang, growing impatient, shouted in frustration,
"We can't keep wasting soul power like this! Charge them—head-on!"
At his command, all seven members of Blazing Academy began to surge forward—
—but before they could move more than a few steps, the ground beneath them erupted in blood-red light.
Crack!
Five scarlet cages erupted from the ground, trapping most of the team within shimmering, blood-red barriers.
"Third Soul Skill — Soul Devouring Cage!"
Tang Yin's third soul ring glowed ominously as the cages hovered in place, suppressing their trapped targets.
"Dai Mubai—Second Soul Skill! Meng Yiran, target the fliers with your First!"
At that moment, Dai Mubai's second soul ring lit up brilliantly.
"Second Soul Skill — White Tiger Intense Light Wave!"
A fierce beam of white energy exploded from his mouth, racing toward the support system and the two nearby attackers, still trapped within the cage.
Simultaneously, Meng Yiran's dragon cane pulsed, her first soul ring glowed to life.
"First Soul Skill — Earth Dragon Lance!"
Dozens of sharp lances made of hardened earth erupted from the ground, striking through the air with deadly accuracy. Her targets: the airborne brothers Huo Yu and Huo Yun, who were just beginning their descent to rescue their teammates.
Caught off guard, the flying duo were hit hard—slammed midair by the sudden assault, then sent crashing to the arena floor.
As Tang Yin withdrew the cage, Dai Mubai's light wave crashed straight into the support member and his nearby guards, blasting them clear off the platform.
With that final blow, five of the seven members of the Blazing Team were thrown out of bounds, instantly disqualified.
Huo Wu and Huo Wushuang stared dumbfounded at their defeated teammates. For the first time, Huo Wushuang tasted defeat, offering a bitter smile to his sister, whose proud facade remained, though silent tears threatened to fall.
Huo Wu readied herself to face Tang Yin and the others once more, but Tang Yin spoke first.
"That was a great match! Save your strength for the next round—meet me in the finals. Let's fight again!"
With a charming smile, he extended a firm handshake. Huo wu's confidence once again flared at the mention of their next fight as she clasped his hand tightly.
"I still have an ace up my sleeve, and I promise to defeat you next time, hmph…" she said, blushing slightly as she stomped her feet—willingly admitting defeat.
It was the first time Huo Wushuang had ever seen his sister admit defeat like this. He glanced at Tang Yin with newfound admiration.
Feng Xiaotian's jealousy flared once again as he stared at Tang Yin, eyes burning with determination. In his heart, he vowed to defeat Tang Yin—even if it meant a fight to the death.
With that, Lanba Team remained undefeated, and their reputation soared even higher. Fans roared with excitement, and even supporters of Blazing Academy couldn't help but applaud their brilliant performance.
Liu Erlong, basking in the glory of the team's victory, rushed forward the moment they returned. Beaming with pride, she threw her arms around Tang Yin, showering him with excited kisses.
Tang Yin knew that tomorrow's match was against Canghui—also known as Blue Sunshine Academy. The opposing team was under pressure, desperately needing victories in their next two matches to secure a spot in the next round.
In the original story, they were prepared to unleash extremely lethal spiritual attacks—powerful enough to turn their opponents into mindless fools. But such tactics were useless against Tang Yin's Telepathy.
If they really tried such tricks, Tang Yin muttered coldly, "Don't blame me for being ruthless."
Tang Yin once again indulged in his favorite pastime—gambling. Although, it's not really gambling if you already know you're going to win. But either way, he made a ton of money—especially now that the preliminary round was nearing its end.
The Next Day
The Seven Dragons of Lanba entered the arena, their refined appearance and confident bearing instantly rousing the crowd into thunderous cheers.
Moments later, Canghui Academy made their entrance—swaggering in with arrogance, their faces full of smug confidence. It was clear they believed the match was already theirs.
As the match began, the Canghui Team instantly moved into formation. One by one, they released their martial souls—each taking the shape of a gemstone: some like crystals, others prisms, droplets, or diamonds, each radiating with strange spiritual energy.
Their captain, Shen Xinshui, barked viciously:
"Seven Shura Formation!"
The seven gemstone-shaped martial souls resonated with one another and shot skyward, radiating a dazzling spectrum of light.
A rainbow-like gem formed above the arena, glowing brilliantly as its light exploded outward, momentarily blinding the audience in a flash of mesmerizing brilliance.
Ning Fengzhi and Bone Douluo suddenly rose to their feet, eyes wide with shock as they stared down at the arena. Both furrowed their brows, worry etched deep in their expressions.
Emperor Xue Ye rose to his feet in disbelief, leaning forward to get a more clearer view.
"A Seven-in-One Martial Soul Fusion Skill?!" he exclaimed, his voice echoing loudly.
Salas's eyes gleamed with greed as he sensed the powerful aura radiating from the Canghui Team members.
"It seems there are quite a few talented seedlings in the Tian Dou Empire," Evil Salas muttered darkly. "If Canghui Academy won't submit to Spirit Hall… then we'll just have to eliminate them too."
Liu Erlong stood up, worry etched her face as she clasped her hands in front of her chest. Zhao wuji was also a little worried seeing the dangerous aura radiating from the formation.
Ning Fengzhi's sharp mind quickly caught on.
"This isn't a true Seven-in-One Martial Soul Fusion… it's a fusion skill," he muttered, eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
Even so, it was an impressive technique—a powerful weapon to have in their arsenal.
Tang Yin stared at Shen Xinshui with cold, emotionless eyes—as if he were already looking at a dead man.
Shen Xinshshui began laughing like a maniac "You're the first to experience our combined Seven Shura Fantasy and also the first one to die. Don't think I don't know your academy was the one who killed our vice-dean. Now i—"
Just as he was speaking, his eyes suddenly rolled back—and, one after another, the rest followed, collapsing to the ground, blood seeping from all seven orifice.
Tang Yin had rendered them all brain-dead with Telepathy—a ruthless act of tit-for-tat that left them little more than mindless husks.
The cheers abruptly died down as the audience stared in shock—all seven members of Blue Sunshine Academy lay bleeding profusely from their orifices.
Gasps rippled through the stands, and some girls even screamed in horror at the gruesome sight of the sprawled students.
Ning Fengzhi watched Tang Yin silently, a thoughtful look in his eyes.
Salas stood up abruptly, frustration palpable. "That powerful Seven-in-One fusion… was it incomplete?" he muttered with a scoff.
He snorted coldly and sank back into his seat, the excitement draining from his expression. "What a joke."
Even Emperor Xue Ye, who had just moments ago been brimming with interest, now looked as though he'd been doused in cold water—his enthusiasm replaced by silent disappointment as he returned to his seat.
The Seven Dragons of Lanba were declared the victors amid whispers and gossip about the disappointing performance of Canghui.
Tang Yin smiled coldly at the brain-dead group and walked away without a shred of remorse. After all, he was just protecting himself—there was no reason to feel guilty.
