"Lance, what the hell are you doing" he shouted,
"i know that voice, why do I know that voice" Lance mutured under his breath as he slowly turned around to look who was behind him, he sighed in disappointment after seeing it was his brother that called out his name, "what does it look like am doing" replied Lance with a little blood dripping down his chin,
"Lance you know exactly what you become around human blood when your humanity is off" said Liam,
"i have it under control"
"yeah like like you did three nights ago with those teenagers at the old house"
"what teenagers" asked Lance, Liam threw a copy of the newspaper he was reading this morning and the heading was about mysterious murder of three teenagers,
"is this what you think of me,...you think I did this" said Lance as he pointed to newspaper "so this is the reason you came to town" he added, "you weren't here to see me or anything, you weren't here to visit, you were here to make sure I wasn't that monster again" continued Lance, Liam had no choice but let him speak his mind cause it was clear that he had misjudged the situation, "well you'll be happy to know I don't kill anymore LIAM" continued Lance, he then bit his arm around the wrist and blood started dripping from his arm, he then fed the blood to the boy who was still standing behind him, the bite marks he inflicted on the boy suddenly healed and all was left was the blood on the surface of the skin, with his two arms Lance held the boys face closer to his and the pupils of his eyes suddenly dialated, he then said "you were taking a hike in the woods and you tripped, you fell down hit your head and fell unconscious",after he had compelled him to forget he wiped the blood from his chin and quickly vanished from there with his vamp speed leaving Liam alone with the compelled boy, Liam also quickly left going back to the sheriff at the old house,
"so what is your theory, what do you think happened" asked the sheriff soon as he saw him come back, he thought he had just come from taking a piss,
"i think you're Forensics are right, this could have been an animal attack" replied Liam as he headed back to his car and the sheriff walked beside him,
"what kind of animal would do that"
"mountain lion probably"
"well I still don't believe it" replied the sheriff, Liam suddenly halted and the sheriff had to stop too wondering why Liam had stopped, soon as he stopped Liam looked him straight in the eyes and Liam's pupils suddenly dialated,
"this was an animal attack, you're going to go back to the station and close the investigation as an animal attack" said Liam, compelling the sheriff
"well I have to head back to the station it was nice working with you Mr...." Said the sheriff holding out his hand for a handshake
"Liam, Liam Harvey" said Liam as he shook the sheriff's hand,
"well you can call me sheriff Griffith" replied the sheriff.
Liam went back to town looking for Lance cause he knew he had made him angry and he had to apologize, he drove around in circles till he saw a secluded diner that looked like it was hidden in plane sight, it's a place that you would overlook if you weren't too observing, when he got out of his car and went in he found Lance sitting at a table in the corner eating a doughnut, he went and sat down at the table and joined him,
"look am sorry I misjudged you" said Liam soon as he sat on the table, Lance completely Ignored him and kept eating his doughnut, "really, you can't ignore me forever" continued Liam,
"can you please shut up, am kind of in the middle of something" replied Lance so frustrated,
"you know what if you answer me just this one question am going to leave you alone, I promise"
"what is it"
"if it's not you who killed those kids then who, cause they might be another vampire in town your too busy stuffing your mouth with doughnuts to find out who" said Liam,
"can I get you anything" asked the waitress who had just approached their table talking to Liam,
"No thanks am good" Liam replied,
"Hey Alex" said Lance calling out the waitress, "was there anyone out of the ordinary who showed up this week" he asked, Alex looked at him and then looked again at Liam,
"is he okay" she replied while pointing at Liam,
"yes he's okay"
"okay in that case there was this guy he was a bit odd" said Alex, "he was kept drawing the same symbol on multiple tissues over over again, he even wrote me down his number and asked me to call if I see a person with that symbol" said Alex and the slid a tissue the man drew the symbol on, looking at the tissue paper Lance recognized it instantly cause it was the curse mark on April's neck he saw earlier that morning,
"have you seen this symbol before" asked Liam,
"your buddy buddy with the sheriff right" asked Lance, while staring down at the symbol on a tissue paper,
"why" so shocked asked Liam,
"we need to call him have him track down this number" said Lance as he pointed on the number below the tissue paper, he the got up from the table and started leaving,
"where are you going" asked Liam as he followed behind trying to call the sheriff,
"i also need to make a phone call and find out what this symbol means" he replied.
Lance pulled out his phone and called Professor Eric Hunt, he is the owner of the biggest library in town and it's the one Hailey sneaked into when she read about April's curse that earlier morning, Professor Eric was the only weird enough person to be interested in supernatural and paranormal activity so it was easier for him and Lance to be friends
"Lance, to what do I owe the pleasure of this call this time" said Eric soon as he answered the call,
"am going to go straight to the point, I just sent you picture I want you find out what that means" replied Lance and hung up the phone, soon as he pulled the phone away from his ear Eric saw the picture that was just sent, he was so shocked too cause he knew he had seen it before, so quickly he leaped out of his chair and got out of his office, he walked across the corridors of shelves in a hurry and frustration while looking for the book, he went straight he had marked not for public, there he saw the book of curses and pulled it out, when he opened the page to April's curse he saw it was marked as if some had read it before him, after reading the details of the curse he quickly called back Lance cause he was curious as how he came to find that mark.
Meanwhile Liam had called the sheriff and he was kind enough to help the track down the number they just gave him, he gave the address of where the owner of the phone number's last location and Liam and Lance were on there way there in the car,
Lance's started ringing and it was Professor Eric calling,
"where did you find this mark" asked the professor soon as the phone was answered,
"that's an interesting question, but I'll tell you if you tell me what it means" replied Lance, Liam was also listening in to the conversation as he drove,
"it's curse mark, one of the most powerful curses it means you get hunted by what you or your family ever killed, now where did you find this mark"
"it was on a tissue paper at a diner, some one drew on it and left it there"
"well be careful cause who ever drew that might be very dangerous"
"well dangerous is my middle name Professor" said Lance then he hung up the phone, the professor so paranoid went back to his office and started parking his stuff, it was like he was parking some immediate trip that had come up, after he was done he grabbed his phone and texted his daughters Hailey and Chloë that he wasn't going to be home so they should come home early and take care of the library,
"now that you're done lying to the professor where did you really first saw that mark" said Liam back in the car as they drove off to the address,
"it was on a scribble a long time ago I can't remember when, but then I saw it this morning on the back of a girl's neck" replied Lance,
"so there's another supernatural in town"
"she's cursed so I don't think she's much of a problem, and I don't think she even knows it" said Lance as he looked on his phone, "pull up here" he added, Liam drove the car to the side of the road and parked, "i think this is it" he said as they looked at the house to their left, they got out of the house and knocked on the front door, they waited a little while for a response and then finally the door was opened, it was an old lady who came to answer the door, she was so old you could she was one blink away from death,
"may I help you" said the old lady her voice so shakey,
"Hi, we are insurance officers here to talk to you about a health preposition" said Liam, "may we come in" he continued,
"he said not let anyone in" she replied, they both looked at each other in shock and despair,
"who" asked Liam, and before the old lady could give out his reply Lance quickly yanked her out of the house and snapped her neck, she died instantly and Liam was left confused and angry,
"why the hell did you do that" asked Liam so angry,
"you heard her she wasn't going to let us in, now the house is free"
"so you killed her"
"yep" simply replied Lance as he dragged the lady's body inside the house,
"look I can't go on with you in this little adventure if you go around killing people"
"well you welcome to leave" replied Lance as he looked around the house for clues, Liam so mad he stormed off from the house but Lance couldn't care less, with his humanity shut off he has no room for emotions so he didn't care about any of Liam's emotions at all, as he looked around he saw a paper that look like an identity document, it was showing the identity of a woman named Grace Martin, it had everything about her from Date of birth, occupation, marriage, to even her address, she was working for a certain company as a real estate agent, Lance flipped the next page and saw that she had recently worked on new house which was now owned by a woman named Martha Sinclair who had just moved in with her new daughter April, soon as Lance saw this he knew that who that vampire is, they are trying to change the deed to house and make it free to enter so he quickly rushed out planning to head to the real estate agent's house and catch the vampire, when he got out of the house he saw the car was still there so Liam stormed off leaving behind the car.
Back at the school April was getting ready to go home cause school was finally over and she couldn't wait to go home, as she was at her locker putting her things away Chloë approached her
"hey, wanna hangout there's this cool diner that serves the best ice cream" said Chloë
"its a diner why would they sell ice cream" asked April with a little smile on her face,
"i asked the same question the first day I went inside, c'mon" she replied as she pulled her away from the locker, they left school and off to the diner they went they went, the twins had plan to find out more about the curse mark from her but since Hailey had to go home early and take care of the library so Chloë had to do it, it was small talk at first trying to get to know each other and getting friendly as they ate their ice cream, it started getting late so April started thinking about leaving but Chloë still had something planned,
"hey comeback at my house I got something I have to show you" she said as she got up from her chair,
"but it's getting late I gotta go home" said April,
"oh c'mon just a few more minutes I don't live far from here and I promise you you'll love it"
"okay then let me text my mom and tell her am going to be late" said April, after she was done they left the diner and went back to the library which is the twins home.
Lance got to the real estate agent's and knocked on the door waiting for an answer, he tried knocking some more but it was still the same and eventually he decided to take the door down, he couldn't believe what he was seeing in front of his eyes, there was blood everywhere around house and there were bodies piled on each other on the floor, the family was brutally murdered with no remorse, you could tell from the wounds that were inflicted on their skin and one of the body had it's heart ripped out, Lance knew exactly who is next on list and since he still had that document he knew where the psycho killer vampire was headed next, he quickly got back in his car and drove off to April's house.
Meanwhile April's mom was busy at home preparing dinner, she had just received a message thirty minutes ago from April that she'll be a little late home, as she was still cooking a knock was heard at the front door, she stopped her cooking and went to answer it hoping it would be the neighbors just trying to be friendly, soon as she opened the door she saw a familiar face,
"shocked to see me" said the psycho vampire, April's mom quickly jumped away from the door to avoid getting yanked outside of house cause she knew he couldn't get inside unless he's invited in, she recognized the vampire cause she has been running away from him for so long moving from one to another all to protect April, the psycho vampire was part of April's family curse, he had come back from beyond the grave kill April just as the curse stated,
"you can't get it in" she said so confidently, the psycho vampire smiled a little and hovered his foot inside the house for a second and then stepped in, April's mom was left utterly shocked cause she had no idea what the vampire had done to get in,
"oh don't be so shocked, I changed the deed to the house, a little precaution I took from the last you ran away from me" said the vampire,
"Modus" chanted April's with her arms spread out in the air around her chest, but sadly the chant didn't work, "Modus" she tried again but the spell still didn't work, the vampire remained unfazed and unharmed comfortably standing in front of her,
"you seem to have forgotten our last encounters" he said, he the raised his arm and rolled up his sleeve a bit just show what was underneath his wrist, "this little trinket protects me from any kind casted by a witch, also another precaution I took since the last we met" said the vampire and he then covered up his sleeve, "now, where is she" he said with a sinister smile on his face.
Liam was still walking angry, frustrated and mumbling words to himself as he took his every step, as he walked suddenly a car stopped right beside and rolled down the window, it was Alex, she had just finished her shift back at the diner and now she was headed home, "need a ride" she said, Liam opened the door and got inside, "i would ask why you're walking down the street alone at night but I know you wouldn't tell me" she added as Liam got comfortable in his seat,
"ugh, it's Lance he pissed me off"
"explains why I saw him driving super fast, that guy has no care in the world"
"when did you see him"
"just a couple minutes ago" she replied,
"turn the car around, follow him now" quickly replied Liam, he was also curious to know what Lance had discovered.
Back at the house the psycho vampire had tied April's mom to chair as he waited for April to get back home,
"you don't have to do this" she said,
"i can't help it my purpose, it's what brought here to do" replied,
"i doesn't have to be, I can help you break free from the Curse's magic"
"desperate words from a mother trying to save her daughter" said the vampire, "you've had like what.., seventeen years after she was born to break her curse but you couldn't and now you want to it can be broken" continued the vampire, he then left to keep searching the house for April, he searched for minutes everywhere with no luck and he came back again,
"where is she" he asked talking to the mother,
"i won't tell you" she replied and suddenly the mom's phone started ringing back in the kitchen, the vampire smiled a little "i wonder who would be call at this hour" he said as he went to pick up the phone, unfortunately when he got there the phone had rang for so long it went to voicemail, he came back and unlocked the phone using the mom's face and started going through her message, it didn't take him long to see the last conversation between her and April that she was going to be a little late, "aaah there she is" said the vampire so excited, "now let's send her a text, what do you think I should tell her" he said as he looked at the mom with a sinister smile, "come home quickly, wait she's a teenager and teenagers do the opposite of what they are told, I think I should say DON'T come home quickly" as said as he types the massage, "now we just sit and wait" he added,
April and the twins were hangout in the Library house they had turn off all the lights and lit one candle, the twins were tricking her into a spell that could figure out how much powerful she is, they were going to chant an incantation and brighter the candle light the stronger she is, suddenly the spell was interrupted by a text April got from her mom, she opened the phone and read the text for a few seconds and got confused
"what is it" asked Chloë after seeing the look on her face,
"its my mom, she says don't come home, now I have to go home she must be in trouble" she replied,
"we'll drive you" replied Hailey as she got to turn the lights on, April got her stuff and out of the library they went.
Meanwhile the vampire was pouring gasoline around the house ready to burn it down, he had also knocked April's mom unconscious so she had no idea what was happening, she was beginning to wake up when the vampire was now holding the match ready to light,
"what are doing" she asked, her voice so heavy and drained of energy,
"oh you're awake I was hoping you'd sleep through this part" he replied and then lit the match, then threw it on floor and the living floor caught on fire immediately, "good luck" he said as he got out of the house, as the house had just started burning Lance was also arriving at the house, he got out of the house and saw the vampire outside just watching it burn waiting for April to show up,
"you know you're breaking almost a hundred rules just by burning that house to the ground" he said to the vampire, the vampire quickly turned around to look at him, he observed him for a few seconds "you, I know you, I've seen you before" said the vampire,
"you know me, ain't that fantastic" he said with smile on his face, he vamp speed quickly towards the vampire but he was even quicker, the vampire ran into the woods and Lance went to chase after leaving the house burning, Liam and Alex just a minute later and the saw the car was empty and the house was burning, Liam thought it was his brother that was burning inside with the house, so he quickly tore down the door to the house and quickly went inside without thinking, he saw a woman tied to a chair in the living so help her and got her quickly before he got burned himself, because vampires are very sensitive to fire, he lied the woman down the street and started giving her CPR hoping she might wake up, at the same moment Alex was trying to call the fire department,
Meanwhile Lance was in the woods and seemed to have lost track of the vampire, he used his super hearing to listen carefully where he was and out of the blue he could hear footsteps coming from behind him so quickly, he got punched so hard he went flying up in the air and landed at a distance, he got up from the ground slowly as he felt the pain of the punch,
"your so young" said the psycho killer vampire, "how do you think you can defeat an almost five hundred years old vampire" he added,
"am not here to pick a fight" said Lance as he slowly got up from the ground, "am looking for a girl, she's about yay high dark hair, blue eyes, devil may care attitude" he added,
"no, doesn't ring a bell"
"then you're no use to me alive" said Lance, he then quickly ran in high speed toward the vampire and suddenly he vanished, it was almost as he had disappeared out of nowhere, the psycho killer vampire started listening closely to see if he wa still around, he could hear footsteps of him from multiple direction he wasn't really able to tell where Lance was, then suddenly Lance appeared from his behind and penetrated his hand through his chest and ripped his heart out, the vampire slowly fell to the ground with a hole on the back of his chest and Lance stood in front of him holding his non beating hear on his hand, "for a five year old vampire, you're pretty slow" he added as he threw the heart down on the ground, he then remembered that he had left the house burning so he ran back.
April and the twins also arrived at the house and found Liam had given up on doing CPR, "mom" quickly yelled April as she ran towards her mother laying beside Liam, she sat on her knees in with her small hands trembling as they clutched the hem of her mother's faded dress. The body lay still on the cold on the ground, arms at her side, her face pale and softened like she was only sleeping. But the stillness was too perfect. The silence too deep.
"Wake up," April whispered, her voice hoarse from crying. "Mama, please."
Tears fell in steady streams down her chicks as they all stared at her in sorrow with nothing to say and nothing to do, Lance too showed up and found her crying, the paramedics and the fire department arrived as the whole gang was standing around the dead corpse
Later that night Lance was digging a grave planning to burry the old lady that he killed earlier that evening and the psycho vampire he had just killed as he was digging the grave Liam came up to help,
"the girl has no one she needs a place to stay so I gave her a room upstairs" said Liam standing besides the two courses,
"what no, get her out of my house"
"what do you mean no, you got plenty of room, the girl stays"
"fine, but just know she's is your responsibility am not running an orphanage" Lance replied,
"you know I kind of like this side of you, owning up and cleaning your own mess"
"perhaps it's not great time to tell you I turned a girl into a vampire"
"you what" Liam replied so shocked,
"grab a shovel this is going to be a long story" Lance replied.
