After reviewing the documents, Maruboshi Kosuke was furious.
Given his temperament, he had absolutely no tolerance for such filth.
With the full support of the Hyūga clan, they quickly gathered concrete evidence—proof of Shimura Danzo's Ox King experiments.
"Old Man Kosuke, thank you for your hard work."
Sasame took the documents and said, "I'll report this to the Hokage. We may need your help to arrest him later."
"It's no trouble at all."
Maruboshi Kosuke spoke with righteous conviction. "This matter involves Shimura Danzo. If the Hokage finds it difficult to act directly, leave it to me. I'm not afraid of making enemies."
Having lived this long, he was no fool.
Though Shimura Danzo was now just an ordinary jonin, his decades as the Hokage's advisor and leader of Root had left him deeply entrenched in Konoha's power structure.
Even Tsunade, as Hokage, would have to tread carefully when dealing with him.
But Kosuke was different.
Old and with few years left, he considered it a bargain to spend his remaining life purging Konoha of this scourge.
He had wondered if this was all part of Tsunade's scheme—some political power play.
But even if it was, he didn't mind being used.
Because Danzo's experiments treated human lives like weeds.
Maruboshi Kosuke had no qualms about being a pawn if it meant justice.
"Thank you."
Sasame's eyes shone with respect.
This was the true Will of Fire.
Not the diluted, self-serving version Hiruzen Sarutobi had twisted it into.
After leaving the Konoha Military Police Force, Sasame didn't immediately deliver the documents to Tsunade.
He was waiting for Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado to make their move.
He didn't have to wait long.
By afternoon, through the shared vision of his slug summon, he watched as one of them entered the Hokage's office.
"Tsunade."
Koharu Utatane concealed her disgust behind a polite smile. "Hiruzen has some matters to discuss with you. If you're free, come with me."
"Why are you the one delivering the message?"
Tsunade's expression remained neutral.
"Hiruzen isn't just calling for you—he's summoned both advisors and Danzo as well."
Koharu replied smoothly. "The Sarutobi messenger went to notify Danzo. Since your office is closer to mine, I took the liberty of informing you."
The explanation sounded plausible enough.
Tsunade frowned but didn't press further. "Where? His home?"
"The Valley of the End."
Koharu relaxed slightly—the first hurdle was cleared.
"Why so far?"
"I'm not sure."
Koharu feigned ignorance. "Perhaps Hiruzen has been reflecting lately. The Valley holds… sentimental value for him."
She deftly shifted the blame onto Hiruzen, whose recent melancholy was well-known.
Tsunade's frown deepened. Something felt off, but she couldn't pinpoint it.
Hiruzen was still her teacher. She couldn't imagine Danzo and the others would dare plot against her.
She grabbed her Hokage robe and stood—
Knock knock.
"Enter."
Tsunade sat back down.
Koharu didn't rush her, knowing impatience would arouse suspicion.
"Sensei, there's something urgent you need to see."
Sasame walked in, ignoring Koharu entirely.
Her face twitched in irritation—typical of Tsunade's disciples, all the same arrogance.
"If it's not critical, leave it for later."
Tsunade waved dismissively. "I'll deal with it after meeting the old man."
"It'll only take a few minutes."
Sasame blinked meaningfully.
Tsunade paused.
She knew Sasame too well—every subtle gesture carried intent.
"Koharu, go ahead. I'll catch up shortly."
She turned with a smile. "I'm sure the old man won't mind waiting a few extra minutes, right?"
Koharu stiffened. Pushing further would seem suspicious.
If their plan was exposed now, it'd all be for nothing.
"…Of course."
She left, shutting the door behind her.
"Well?"
Homura Mitokado, waiting outside, stepped forward. "Did she agree? Why isn't she coming?"
"She has business to settle first, but she's agreed."
Koharu eyed the closed door. "Go inform Danzo to prepare. I'll wait here for her."
"Understood. Alert me if anything changes."
Homura nodded and vanished.
"See, sister? You do know me well."
Sasame grinned, placing the documents on the desk and moving in for a hug.
"Business first."
Tsunade kicked off her sandals, pressing a bare foot against his stomach to stop him.
She skimmed the documents—and within seconds, her face darkened with rage.
"DANZO!"
She had known about Konoha's Hashirma Cell experiments.
Back then, they were overseen by Hiruzen himself—aimed at recreating the Wood Release, with all participants volunteering.
The project was halted due to high mortality rates.
Then, years later, Hashirma Cell transplantation resurfaced.
Since it involved Hiruzen, Orochimaru, and Danzo, Tsunade had turned a blind eye.
She assumed it had ended with the creation of Wood Release users—flawed imitations of her grandfather, but still a breakthrough.
But now?
Danzo was still experimenting—developing weapons fueled by human lives.
This was treason.
"I won't let him get away with this."
Tsunade stood, murderous intent rolling off her. "Since the old man's called us all together, I'll confront Danzo directly—ask him how he dares call himself a Konoha shinobi!"
"Sister, do you really think this is a coincidence?"
Sasame took her hand, soothing her. "The Military Police's investigation must have tipped them off. I checked with the ANBU—no Sarutobi messenger came to deliver any summons."
"You're saying this is a trap?"
Tsunade's eyes narrowed. "Are those three really that bold?"
"Why not?"
Sasame stroked her knuckles, calming her further. "Kill you, and their problems disappear."
"How would they explain it to Hiruzen?"
She gripped his hand tighter, drawing warmth from his touch.
"Assume they succeed. What would the Third do? Nothing. Because killing them in retaliation would leave Konoha vulnerable."
Sasame wasn't slandering Hiruzen—just stating facts.
With Tsunade dead, and Danzo, Koharu, and Homura executed, only a frail Hiruzen would remain—practically inviting the other villages to attack.
Hiruzen, long past his prime, wouldn't take that risk.
Tsunade fell silent.
She knew her teacher.
In the original timeline, Orochimaru had deemed Hiruzen "stagnant"—a wind that no longer moved—leading to the Konoha Crush.
Jiraiya and Tsunade? Both had fled the village.
Partly for personal reasons, but also to avoid witnessing the Shell of the God of Shinobi they once revered.
"Then let's meet them head-on."
As Hokage, Tsunade wasn't one to hesitate. After a brief pause, her resolve hardened.
"I'll go alone. You follow with the Hokage Guard and Military Police. If they do try to kill me, intervene."
While they had evidence, Danzo and the advisors were still high-ranking officials—they couldn't arrest them without irrefutable proof.
Tsunade's plan was the safest approach.
Sasame nodded.
In truth, this setup would make Tsunade the ultimate victor.
A newly appointed Hokage, swiftly crushing a conspiracy?
Her reputation would soar.
Even Hiruzen couldn't force her out of office after this.
Sasame smirked—the joys of raising a Hokage.
Tsunade was already a max-level character, but Hinata and Ino still had a long way to go.
The fun was just beginning.
With his strength, Sasame could easily slaughter the two advisors—but that'd rob Tsunade of her moment.
Turning her into a puppet would be boring.
After Tsunade left, Sasame alerted the Military Police and headed to the Hokage Guard Platoon's office.
Before he even opened the door, he heard Might Guy's booming voice.
Though lacking in ninjutsu talent, Guy was a taijutsu monster.
The Eight Gates—a forbidden technique that led straight to the grave.
Only those with unmatched will could master it.
In Konoha's history, only Might Duy and his son had succeeded.
Duy had once fought the Seven Ninja Swordsmen alone—a legend etched in blood.
Hiruzen had once tried promoting the Eight Gates, but no one could replicate the feat.
At best, they unlocked the first two gates—barely a boost for the effort required.
Sasame knocked and entered.
Five pairs of eyes turned to him.
Ino Yamanaka lit up with joy.
The others remained neutral.
"Sasame, what brings you here?"
Shizune asked casually.
"Orders from the Hokage."
The moment he spoke, Might Guy surged forward, eyes blazing.
"What mission?!"
"Arrest the rogue ninja, Shimura Danzo."
Sasame smiled.
Silence.
Then—
"…You're joking, right?"
Kakashi Hatake lowered his Make-Out Tactics book. "Did you just say Shimura Danzo?"
Danzo's reputation was questionable, but his loyalty to Konoha was undisputed.
No one would ever accuse him of betrayal.
Not even Might Guy—who had once sought to join Root.
"Dead serious."
Sasame produced Tsunade's signed order. "Everyone except Ino—you're with me."
"Yes, sir!"
Kakashi and the others responded in unison.
Ino bit her lip but said nothing.
This mission was beyond her.
Her only comfort was Sasame's reassuring smile.
"It'll be fine."
As he left, Ino's gaze lingered.
"I wonder if he noticed my new hairstyle…"
She twirled a golden strand near her ear.
Her usual fringe, once covering one eye, was now swept to the side—styled more like Konan's, framing her face elegantly.
