Without magic, Valmira did the unthinkable.
She rewrote the Codex—by hand. Ink, quill, parchment. Every line manually copied, translated, reimagined.
"What are you doing?" I asked, watching her under torchlight.
"Writing a new world," she replied, eyes never leaving the page.
"Aren't you afraid it won't work?"
"No," she said. "Because for the first time, the rules are ours."
I sat beside her in silence.
Watched her hand move.
And realized: she wasn't preserving the past.
She was authoring the future.
