That night, I found Lilith in her chambers.
She wasn't reading.
Wasn't teaching.
Just sitting with her hands folded on her lap.
"You knew about the Origin Ledger," I said.
"I buried it," she admitted. "With good reason."
"You suppose I can't take care of it?"
"I assume it shouldn't exist."
She stood and walked to me, her fingers brushing the side of my face. "Some truths unravel more than they reveal."
I held her gaze. "I need it."
"You already carry too many burdens."
"Then carry it with me."
For once, she didn't argue.
She just nodded.
