Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: The Death of Elina

Late at night, the hotel hallway was dimly lit and quiet.

However, in this tranquil night, Elina's furious roar swept through the entire corridor like a storm.

She stood at the door, her body trembling with anger. Her eyes, filled with rage, stared fixedly at the two Garde officers before her.

"I'm a pregnant woman, don't I even have the right to go for a walk?" she roared, pointing to her pregnant belly. "This is persecution against me and my child!"

The two officers exchanged a blank look, seemingly accustomed to Elina's outbursts.

They gently shook their heads, firmly rejecting her request.

Similar scenes had played out countless times.

Elina always used her pregnancy as an excuse to make all sorts of unreasonable demands.

Despite their best efforts to satisfy her, she was never content.

Her criticism and complaints left them feeling exhausted.

Fortunately, Elina's anger didn't last long. Gradually, her roaring subsided until it disappeared completely.

She rubbed her tired eyes and turned to go back into the room.

Back in her room, she quickly fell asleep and had a beautiful dream.

In the dream, she was rescued by her uncle, Tywin, and became the young lady of the Lannis family.

Countless talented young men surrounded her, vying to express their love, while Yide knelt on the ground, begging for her forgiveness.

Just at this happiest moment, a sharp pain suddenly struck. Elina felt as if her abdomen was being torn apart by a powerful force, the pain making it almost impossible to breathe.

She suddenly opened her eyes, and the scene before her made her scream in terror.

A shadow was standing in front of her bed, holding a cold, gleaming sword in its hand, the tip of which was already inserted into her abdomen.

She wanted to shout for help, but the shadow quickly covered her mouth, preventing her from making a sound.

She struggled desperately, trying to break free, but the shadow's strength made it impossible for her to move.

Gradually, Elina felt her consciousness begin to fade.

The world before her grew darker and darker until she finally fell into an endless darkness.

The shadow slowly released her hand after confirming that she was dead.

He grabbed Elina's hand, dipped it in the bright red blood flowing from her abdomen, and wrote the two words "Yide" on the floor in blood.

A cold smile crept across his lips.

Having done this, he calmly left, disappearing into the dark night.

The morning sun streamed through the cracks in the curtains, dappling the floor of the hotel room. When Elina's guards opened the door, they were completely shocked by the scene before them.

The room was a mess, with bloodstains everywhere on the bed and floor. Elina lay helplessly in a pool of blood, lifeless.

Her face was as pale as paper, a stark contrast to the surrounding red blood.

The air was filled with a heavy smell of blood, making it suffocating.

And on the floor, the two words "Yide" were written in blood, seemingly identifying the real identity of this inhuman murderer.

Their hands trembling, they quickly reported the situation to their superiors.

The Marechaussee Phantom and the Special Security Team rushed to the scene with unusual speed and immediately decided to arrest Yide.

Strangely, they didn't go to Yide's house, but went straight to a nearby hotel, as if they knew in advance that Yide was spending the night there.

Opening the door to the room, they found Yide dressed and sitting on the bed, looking at them with a mocking expression.

"Yide, you are so insane as to kill Elina!" Herbert said loudly, a hint of revenge flashing in his eyes.

Yide appeared unusually calm. He looked into Herbert's eyes and said faintly, "Herbert, this is a frame-up by your Lannis family. You are as despicable and shameless as ever."

"Nonsense!" Herbert roared, his voice echoing in the room. "There is conclusive evidence left at the scene to prove that you are the murderer! Now, come with us and face the punishment of the law!"

Yide smiled lightly, a look of disdain on his face. "Okay, I'm willing to go with you. But the final verdict may disappoint you."

Herbert sneered and said fiercely, "I'm telling you, Yide, you're dead this time! You will spend the rest of your miserable life in the Fortress of Meropide."

Faced with Herbert's threat, Yide did not show any panic or fear. He actively cooperated with the investigators, moved into the detention center, and waited for the upcoming trial.

Then, the news that Yide had murdered his former fiancée, the pregnant Elina, spread throughout Fontaine.

This heinous incident immediately aroused strong public outrage.

Although Elina had been unfaithful, Yide's attack on an innocent pregnant woman was an outrageous atrocity!

People said that such cruelty could not be tolerated and must be condemned and punished in the most severe terms.

Under the organization and instigation of interested parties, the students of the Fontaine Research Institute quickly gathered and held an unprecedented protest.

They held up signs, shouted slogans, and demanded that the authorities severely punish the murderer Yide and seek justice for Elina and her unborn child.

At the same time, the legal giant, Attorney Darwin, also stepped forward.

He publicly stated that he would personally form a strong team of ace lawyers to act as Elina's representative and fully pursue Yide's legal responsibility to defend justice!
