Chapter 16 - Solo Leveling

[The spider's fangs contains a deteriorating poison corrosive acid. It can easily melt down it's target cellular membrane with a bite, making it easier for it to consume it's prey.]

"Tsk, I never really expected to run into the boss this early. Still in terms of rankings this dungeon should be a D-rank dungeon in the least."

He twirled the sword with ease, his right leg sliding forward in a poised lunge as a slow, confident grin curved across his lips.

"That means no matter the tricks it has up it's legs, I can still take it, this is where my months of karate will show!"

With a loud battle cry, he lunged at the spider, which stood ready to strike. In an instant, the creature spun its web and flung it toward him, aiming to trap its prey.

"Sorry, but that's not gonna work on me!" He shouted, realizing that the spider's bulky armor made it hard for the creature to aim its web at a fast-moving target, it gavy him the upper hand.

He dodged the webs with easw, slicing through the sticky strands with sharp, deliberate strikes. The spider hissed, then reared back and slammed two of its legs down toward Mason, aiming to crush him beneath it's foot.

"Too slow!" He executed a forward roll, coming up steady on his feet—positioned directly beneath the towering spider's legs. "Now!"

Drawing on every ounce of strength he had left, he drove his blade upward in a swift, precise arc, aiming straight for the soft stomach of the spider.

As his blade struck the spider's abdomen, a sharp crack echoed through the chamber—the weapon shattered on impact, splintering into jagged shards and leaving only half a blade in his grasp.

Mason staggered back, eyes wide with disbelief, the weight of the moment crashing down as he stared at the broken sword.

"Huh..?"

Seizing it's chance, the spider swung it's leg, hitting Mason directly in his stomach.

"Gh-Bleh!" He coughed violently, a torrent of blood spilling from his mouth as he was violently hurled into the jagged walls of the cave.

He hit the cold ground hard, clutching his midsection as a sharp, searing pain radiated through his stomach. There was no mistaking it, he had barely escaped without serious injury, and complications were almost certainly inevitable.

"W..hat?" He groaned softly, his hands and legs trembling violently from the force of the impact. He had assumed that his strength could pierce through the spider's armor, but he had been wrong, and the cost was now painfully clear.

Sensing its prey was weakened, the spider slowly advanced, its eyes gleaming with hunger. Saliva dripped from its fangs as it caught the scent of Mason's fresh blood,

He sat up slowly, every movement a struggle as he dragged his body backward. The spider took it's time stalking him, its many eyes fixed on its weakened prey. Mason's mind raced—his sword was shattered, his skills limited.

'Damn it.." He considered using his telekinesis, but at the level it's at, the effects will be minimal against the spider.

'Should I use Incubus Order?'

[Your HP has been reduced, using Incubus Order requires maximum focus due to your will being the source of its strength.]

The spider arrived in front of him, raising it's leg as it attempted to deliver the final blow.

'Is..this it for me?' He murmured to himself, his thoughts drifting to fleeting images of his mother's smile, a soft warmth amidst the chaos. But before he could hold onto the memory, the spider's leg came crashing down toward his skull with terrifying speed.

"Tch." A soft grin stretched across his face and at the last minute, Mason vanished from the spider's sight before it's sharp leg could crush it's skull.

"Screw it all... I can't die here, not now, not when I'm all my mom's got!" With a forceful grunt, Mason sprang to his feet, his body fueled by a surge of fiery determination, his eyes burned with resolve as he dashed forward.

Memories of his mother flooded his mind—her solitude, the quiet moments when he wasn't there to comfort her, when no one else was around to keep her company while he was at school. It all came crashing down on him like a tidal wave.

"Even after being granted power by the system I'm still weak, but that ends here! I'll grasp this power! I'll hone this power till I become a force to be reckoned with!"

With agility far greater than the spider's, Mason slashed at its body again and again, his half-broken sword striking the armored hide with each desperate swing. But each blow bounced off harmlessly, unable to pierce the creature's tough exoskeleton.

"Damn it, this shit is still pissing me off, she broke through my order? Impossible! The only one that'll be breaking through anything is me through her! Damn it!"

"There's has to be a weakness in it's armor! I'll find it and I'll crush it!"

Unable to match Mason's swift movements, the massive spider let out a loud shriek, its fury reaching a boiling point.

With a violent hiss, it raised three of its legs high into the air before bringing them down with crushing force. The ground trembled as a shockwave surged outward, knocking everything in its path off balance.

Anticipating this, Mason sprang into the air, his body rising gracefully above the shockwave. He hung there for a moment with eyes locked onto the massive creature below.

"That's it!"

From a bird's eye view, he discovered that the only places where the armor couldn't cover completely were the spider's joints for obvious reasons and it's eyes.

"I've got you now!" He spun the broken blade in his hand and with a powerful thrust, he launched the blade at the one place the spider would struggle to avoid.

WHIZ!

With his enhanced strength, the blade sliced through the air and penetrated the eyes of the spider.

RAWWWW!

Shrieking in agony, the spider lashed out, its sharp, spiked legs extending toward Mason in a desperate attempt to impale him as he descended swiftly

"Not yet!" He maneuvered his body through the giant legs of the spider and dropped towards it's eyes in an instant.

Now in fear, the spider shot out webs from its mouth directly at Mason.

"No you don't!" With a sharp grunt, a surge of blue energy enveloped his right hand, crackling with power. In an instant, he clenched his fist, the energy pulsing with raw force.

[Ability (Telekinesis level 1) has been activated]

Utilizing his telekinetic prowess, an unseen force fell upon the spider and its web downward, forcing them into the ground. It wasn't enough to hold the creature, but it was just enough to create a brief moment of distraction.

"Take this!"

Using gravity to his advantage, Rentaro pressed both legs firmly against the top of the sword's hilt driving the broken blade further into the spider's head.

The spider shrieked uncontrollably, feeling the broken sword sharp edges slicing through it's skull.

As Mason crashed to the ground, the spider's movement stopped completely, and it's body fell to the ground completely.
