Chapter 16 - Plan and Action

The training grounds hummed with anticipation.

All Might stood in front of Class 1-A, booming with enthusiasm. "Today's lesson: Hero vs. Villain Battle Simulation! Two-on-two, live scenario! Real-world applications!"

Jason stretched lazily at the back of the room, arms behind his head, pretending not to care. His eyes flicked to the matchups on the board. His name appeared next to Kaminari.

Team Heroes: Jason Lax & Denki Kaminari.

Team Villains: Momo Yaoyorozu & Tenya Iida.

Jason blinked once. Then grinned.

---

Phase 1: Strategy

In the prep room, Kaminari paced nervously. "We're up against Momo and Iida! What if I mess up?"

"You probably will," Jason replied, smirking. "Don't worry. I'll win for both of us."

"...Thanks?"

Jason held out a hand, palm open. In a shimmer of light, metal bands formed over his fingers. The gloves quickly evolved into clawed gauntlets with climbing hooks and reinforced knuckles. "You're bait. I'm extraction."

"Why am I always the bait?!"

"Because you're flashy. Go fry the building's grid. Get their attention. I'll handle the rest."

---

Phase 2: Infiltration

While Kaminari overloaded the building's power lines, Jason scaled the outer walls silently. His evolved claws gripped brick and glass like they were nothing. He moved with eerie fluidity, eyes scanning.

Inside, Momo and Iida were ready.

She had lined the halls with her creations—trip wires, gas traps, smoke grenades, even rubber barriers.

Iida shot down the hallway with blinding speed.

Jason dropped from the ceiling and landed in front of him.

"Jason Lax!" Iida shouted, arms windmilling. "You will not pass!"

Jason smiled calmly and his forearm reshaped into a dense baton. "Let's dance, Turbo Legs."

The clash was brutal but short-lived. Jason predicted Iida's linear movements and created evolved footholds on the walls to redirect his own momentum. In seconds, Iida was knocked out and pinned with metallic binding strands.

Phase 3: Bomb Room – Jason vs. Momo

The door creaked open.

Momo stood in front of the fake bomb, lips tight, eyes sharp. "I expected you."

"Good," Jason said, brushing dust from his jacket. "Didn't want to waste a good entrance."

Without hesitation, Momo launched a net cannon. Jason ducked and rolled, the floor beneath him shifting into spikes—another of her creations. He flipped, arms morphing into smooth, reflective plates that redirected her flashbang.

She adapted quickly, summoning a bo staff and reinforced armor.

Jason chuckled mid-combat. "You've really grown, y'know? Kinda hot."

"Focus, idiot!"

They traded blows—her refined technique versus his unpredictable evolution. Jason's limbs changed mid-motion: blade, shield, whip, then back to claw. His environment shifted subtly with each movement. He was improvising on instinct, evolving in real time.

Momo matched him, countering with anticipation and strategic design. But Jason was relentless.

Suddenly, lightning crackled through a vent behind her—Kaminari's distraction.

Momo turned slightly.

It was all Jason needed.

He surged forward, his leg evolving into a spring-loaded piston, launching him past her defense. His hand tapped the bomb.

Hero team wins.

Aftermath

Momo panted, shoulders heaving. "You cheated."

Jason wiped a smear of soot from his cheek. "I adapted. Besides—still cute when you're mad."

All Might's voice echoed through the speakers. "Excellent work! Yaoyorozu-san, your tactics were brilliant! Lax-san, your creative use of your Quirk is truly impressive!"

Back in the observation room, students whispered among themselves.

"He evolved through a wall—who does that?"

"He took down both Iida and Momo…"

Kaminari leaned on Jason, grinning. "We did it!"

"You tripped over your own foot."

"Team effort!"

---

Later, under a campus tree, Jason lounged with eyes half-closed. Momo passed by, holding her notebook.

She paused, then smirked. "Next time, I win."

Jason opened one eye and smiled lazily. "Can't wait."

From a distance, Aizawa and All Might observed in silence.

"Lax is dangerous," Aizawa murmured. "Not because he's strong. Because no one knows what he'll do next."
