Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: Dragon Incantations

Chapter 12: Dragon Incantations

Seeing his father's shocked expression, Yu Feng asked with doubt, "Father, how is it? Is it powerful?"

Hearing this, Yu Lei said slowly, as if measuring each word, "Feng'er… it's very powerful. Close to a Soul Emperor's attack."

Yu Feng smiled slightly. Of course he knew his attack could reach such a level. His physical body had already surpassed that of a typical Soul King even before he absorbed any soul rings. And now, having absorbed his first ring, his body had grown even more formidable. Moreover, his first soul skill doubled all his physical attributes, further elevating the force behind every strike. When all these enhancements stacked together, it wasn't a surprise that his power brushed the threshold of a Soul Emperor.

"Feng'er, how much soul power does it consume?" Yu Lei asked, his tone more serious now. "After all, it is a ten-thousand-year soul ring. That's not something normal."

Yu Feng nodded. "It doesn't consume much, Father. As I mentioned before, its usage scales with my soul power. The stronger my soul power, the longer I can sustain it. Right now, I can use it for about two to three hours continuously. That's for general use, of course. If I channel it into direct combat—enhancing my body and launching heavy attacks—then the duration is much shorter."

Yu Lei looked thoughtful and nodded. "That's reasonable." Then his eyes narrowed slightly with curiosity. "Feng'er, what about those Dragon Incantations you mentioned before? Can you display them now?"

"Yes, Father," Yu Feng replied with excitement. He stepped back about three meters to give himself enough room. Then, in a low voice that carried a strange rhythm, he chanted:

"Dragon Incantation: Dragon Claw!"

In an instant, black dragon scales emerged from his skin, covering his arms completely from shoulder to fingertip. The sheen on the scales was like polished obsidian, and his fingers turned into razor-sharp claws that shimmered faintly with dangerous energy.

Then, without hesitation, Yu Feng rushed toward his father. As he leaped into the air above Yu Lei, both his arms lifted high.

From the air, he descended like a falling star.

Boom!

He slammed his spectral claws down with full force—talons the size of tree trunks crashing toward Yu Lei. The force caused the air to tremble slightly, and dust burst from the ground where the claws landed.

Yu Lei raised a single arm to block the strike. Though the impact was heavy, he remained standing. But his expression was serious—his brows furrowed slightly as the shock from the impact rippled through his arm.

'This strength… it's definitely on the level of a Soul Emperor…' Yu Lei thought.

He wasn't shocked by the sheer power—after all, he knew Yu Feng's physical body was comparable to a high-ranking Soul King—but what truly startled him was how this attack manifested.

This "Dragon Claw"… it was similar to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's second soul ring skill. Yet Yu Feng was displaying it without a soul ring. A self-created soul skill.

More accurately, something beyond that—a Dragon Incantation.

Creating a self-made soul skill was already something that only a few geniuses achieved. But for Yu Feng to possess an entire unique system—skills that didn't rely on soul rings—was completely unprecedented.

As Yu Lei was still digesting this revelation, Yu Feng landed lightly and backed away a step. But instead of stopping, he opened his mouth with a guttural growl.

"Dragon Incantation: Dragon Breath!"

A massive illusionary dragon head, nearly identical to Fortissax, appeared behind him—its golden eyes glowing, horns crackling with red lightning.

Then a terrifying blast erupted from Yu Feng's mouth—an infernal mix of black-red fire and crimson lightning. It roared forth like a tide, arching through the air and surging toward Yu Lei.

Yu Lei's eyes narrowed in alarm. He instantly coated himself in a protective layer of soul power, forming a dark shield around his body.

Whooosh!!

The ground sizzled and cracked under the wave of fire and lightning. The sheer pressure made the surrounding temperature rise drastically. Even the trees far behind began to wither slightly from the scorching heat.

But when the flames dissipated, Yu Lei remained unharmed. Standing amidst the steam, cloaked in his dark soul power, he looked almost regal.

Of course, he wasn't hurt. He was a Titled Douluo—how could a single-ring soul master truly harm him?

Seeing that his father was fine, Yu Feng quickly ran to his side. Chen Meilin also approached, holding Fortissax in her arms.

Yu Feng, eyes shining with anticipation, asked again, "Father, how was it? Was it powerful?"

Yu Lei smiled this time. "Very powerful, Feng'er. The first skill, Dragon Claw, was definitely on par with a Soul Emperor's strike. The second—Dragon Breath—it's not quite at that level yet, but it would be fatal to any Soul Sect-level cultivator and could seriously injure them. Below Soul Sect? Instant death."

He paused, then added, "These Dragon Incantations… they're not ordinary. They're as strong as soul skills, or even more so in some cases."

Yu Feng nodded and explained proudly, "Yes, Father. Mother. These are Dragon Incantations. So far, I've acquired two. Every time I advance ten levels in soul power, I'll gain a new one. As for how many I'll eventually obtain—it's still unknown."

"The two I've shown are called Dragon Claw and Dragon Breath."

"Dragon Claw covers my arms with incredibly tough dragon scales. It boosts both my strength and defense in my arms by 100%. It's excellent for melee combat."

"Dragon Breath summons a spectral dragon based on my martial soul. Since my martial soul is Fortissax, my breath attack mimics its powers. It deals pure fire damage, mixed with red lightning, and has dangerous side effects—burns, seizures, tingling sensations, irregular heartbeat, unconsciousness, and even muscle paralysis or blunt force injuries."

Hearing all of this, Chen Meilin was visibly shocked. "That means, Feng'er… with just one soul ring, you already have the power to defeat or kill any soul master below the Soul Sect. And you can contend with Soul Sect and even Soul King level enemies depending on the situation."

Yu Lei nodded but added, "Yes. Feng'er's power is certainly enough to leap levels in combat. But you're missing one key point."

He smiled and looked at Fortissax beside them. "With Fortissax's support, Feng'er can even challenge some Soul Kings directly—and likely defeat anyone below that level."

"Of course," he added more seriously, "experience plays a big role. A Soul Sect with battle-hardened instincts and years of combat can still defeat someone with greater raw power."

Turning to Yu Feng, he said sternly, "Feng'er, it's good that your strength is growing so quickly. But don't neglect your combat experience. If your instincts and timing are sharp, you can fight even a Soul Emperor one day."

Yu Feng nodded with a determined gaze. "Yes, Father. I've been thinking the same. Once we settle and create our force within Sunset Forest, I'll focus on real battle experience."

Yu Lei smiled approvingly. "Good."

Chen Meilin, who had been listening silently, suddenly said, "Feng'er, now that you've absorbed your first soul ring, we should return to your room. It's time for you to absorb your second soul ring."

Yu Feng and Yu Lei both nodded. They returned to Yu Feng's room.

Inside, Yu Feng sat cross-legged on the bed, Fortissax resting beside him. He took out the golden bead of a God-Given Soul Ring, and began absorbing it without hesitation.

Like before, Yu Lei and Chen Meilin stood nearby to protect him.

The golden bead shimmered gently, gathering above Yu Feng's head. It started faintly, like mist under moonlight. Slowly, it condensed into a glowing ring.

First white.

Then yellow.

Purple.

Finally… black.

The soul ring's energy began to invade his body.

Unlike the first ring, he felt no pain—until the ring turned pitch black. That was when it hit.

His veins bulged. His breath shortened. Muscles locked. The pain was deep, more intense than before. It wasn't just in his body—it rattled his spirit too.

Fortissax growled beside him, golden lightning crackling along its body as it endured the burden alongside Yu Feng.

After what felt like hours, the soul ring settled around him, glowing with intimidating power.

Yu Feng had successfully absorbed a 25,000-year second soul ring.

His chest rose and fell slowly, sweat pouring down his back. Behind him, Fortissax also grew stronger—evolving from a 9,000-year beast to 19,800 years, just short of the next threshold.

With the second soul ring in place, Yu Feng opened his eyes, calm and resolute.
