Chapter 98 - The Devil Who Feared

Asher gently carried the twins in his arms as the entire household made their way to the airport. It wasn't just a trip—it was a journey of hope, a mission to save someone they all cherished.

Nora was fast asleep in Zayan's arms, her breathing soft, her head resting against his chest. He sat quietly in the jet, eyes lost in thought, a storm swirling behind them.

"The devil… is scared?" he murmured under his breath, rubbing his temple as he stared out the window. His usual confidence, the darkness that clung to him like a shadow—none of it could mask the fear clawing at his heart.

Six hours passed in silence, tension, and the occasional coo from the twins. When they landed in Switzerland, snow was falling softly. The air was crisp and cold. They were greeted by a fleet of black cars that whisked them away to a secluded dark blue villa tucked deep within a private, heavily secured area.

Inside the villa, warmth greeted them like a silent embrace. Nora began to stir, slowly waking up as Zayan held her tighter. The moment her eyes opened, her gaze shifted to the giggling twins, happily playing in the arms of Aaila and Asher.

"Babies…" she whispered.

Zayan smiled and helped her sit up as she eagerly reached for them, peppering their faces with kisses. The sight melted everyone's heart.

She wore a soft white head warmer over her bald head. When Zayan saw her—truly saw her, fragile yet strong—he couldn't help but smile. She walked toward him slowly, then suddenly began to tickle him. His deep laughter echoed through the room as he stumbled back, collapsing onto the bed.

She climbed on top of him and hugged him tightly.

"No more tears, okay?" she said softly, her voice like a lullaby.

He wrapped his arms around her. "Yes, darling… no more tears."

Meanwhile, Asher changed the twins into warm, coordinated outfits—Lysander in deep black, Seraphina in soft blue. As the family settled in, love quietly bloomed around them.

In the hallway, Nathaira accidentally bumped into Maverick.

"S-sorry—" she began, but he grabbed her hand and pulled her into a kiss against the wall. She gasped, stunned, but didn't resist. His lips were desperate, and hers answered back with the same hunger. Without another word, he lifted her effortlessly and carried her into one of the rooms. The door shut behind them. Passion took over. They didn't hold back.

Back with Nora, it was time for her hospital check-up.

Bundled tightly in her coat, she held baby Seraphina close as they drove through the snow-covered streets. She smiled down at her.

"Lilly," she whispered. "Mummy is fine, okay?"

Seraphina gurgled in reply, little fingers clutching her coat.

"Nora love, lay down here, alright?" Imara said as they entered the pristine medical suite.

Nora nodded and handed Seraphina to Damian, who took her with gentle care. She lay down quietly, eyes scanning the ceiling as the doctors moved around her.

Arion handed her a sedative pill. "You'll sleep for a while," he said softly.

She nodded and took it. Within minutes, her eyes fluttered shut.

Meanwhile, Zayan cradled Seraphina in his arms, gently bouncing her. She smiled up at him, tiny giggles bubbling from her lips. He chuckled, kissing her forehead.

"My little sunshine," he whispered.

After feeding, the twins drifted off to sleep in the nursery, watched over by Zira and Aaila. Zayan sat nearby with Lysander in his arms, occasionally whispering lullabies under his breath.

Four hours passed.

Finally, Nora stirred. Her eyes slowly opened, head slightly heavy. She sat up and looked through the glass pane beside her bed. There he was—Zayan—with Lysander in his arms, bouncing him gently.

Lysander's face was lit up with excitement as he looked toward his mother.

"Where's Z… and the babies?" Nora asked softly.

Aaila turned to her, smiling. "They're right outside."

In the hallway, Zayan was struggling to keep Lysander from bouncing too much.

"Why are you jumping up and down, man?" he asked in his smooth British accent, amused.

Then he noticed Lysander staring past him. He turned—and saw her.

Nora, standing in the doorway, her arms open, her smile tired but filled with light.

"There she is," Zayan whispered. "That's why you're happy."

Nora came forward, and Zayan gently handed both babies to her. They squealed in delight, tiny arms wrapping around their mother. Nora held them tightly, kissing their cheeks.

Arion stepped into the room with a calm but serious expression.

"We start the operation at 7:00," he announced. "It's a long procedure. We'll be healing her brain's trauma damage. Once the wounds are treated, it will take around five months for full healing. After that… we'll work on restoring her memories and emotional connections."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn't over—but there was hope.

Later that evening, Zayan quietly stepped into the nursery. His little family sat on the plush carpet—Nora with the twins in her lap, making them laugh, their tiny voices full of joy.

He leaned against the doorway, watching them with a heavy but hopeful heart.

"She'll be fine," he whispered to himself. "She has to be."
