Alessandro's POV
The days following their quiet moments together felt like the calm before a storm. The merger with the Caruso family loomed ever closer, and with it, the inevitability of change. Alessandro had spent his whole life building the De Luca Group into a powerhouse, but this decision-this merger-was more than just about business. It was about legacy, about power, about the future of the De Luca name.
He sat at his desk in the study, papers scattered around him, his mind focused on the task at hand. He could feel the weight of the decisions ahead, and with every meeting, every negotiation, the pressure mounted.
But this time, there was something different. Something he hadn't anticipated. As the days grew longer and the stakes became higher, he found himself reaching out for Kara more and more. She had become his sounding board, his constant in the chaos. And though they hadn't spoken much about it, he knew-he couldn't keep her at arm's length anymore.
He stood up from the desk, stretching his stiff muscles, and walked over to the balcony. The view over the vineyard was as breathtaking as ever, but his thoughts were far from the beauty before him. They were with Kara, and the growing sense of connection he had with her.
She was in her element today, immersed in her art project, her fingers gently working on the delicate restoration of a painting. The quiet, almost meditative way she worked reminded him of how different their worlds were-and yet, how close they were becoming.

Kara's POV
The villa had become her sanctuary, a place where she could lose herself in the world of Venetian art. Yet, the closer she grew to Alessandro, the more she realized how much their worlds intersected-how much they needed each other to navigate the complexities of their lives.
Today, she was deep in her work, carefully restoring a centuries-old canvas that had been neglected for far too long. She found peace in it, in the quiet focus of bringing something fragile back to life. But even in her moments of solitude, she couldn't escape the reality that they were living in a constant balancing act.
Alessandro's business demands were relentless, and though he tried his best to keep it separate from their life together, she could see how much it was affecting him. She knew that, sooner or later, they would need to confront the tension that simmered beneath the surface. He couldn't carry the burden of everything alone. She had to be more than just a spectator in his world.
She looked up from her work, hearing the soft footsteps behind her. Alessandro stepped into the room, a familiar, yet subtle look of exhaustion in his eyes.
"Can we talk?" he asked, his voice gentle but weighted with something unspoken.
Kara put down her brush and turned to face him, nodding. "Of course. What's on your mind?"
He hesitated for a moment, as if trying to find the right words. "I've been thinking about the merger... and everything else. The weight of it all, Kara. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep it all together." He ran a hand through his hair, frustration and vulnerability flickering in his gaze.
Her heart ached at the sight of him, so used to being the strong, commanding figure in the De Luca empire, now showing the strain of it all. She stood up, walking over to him and placing a hand on his arm.
"You don't have to do this alone, Alessandro," she said softly, her eyes searching his. "I'm here. Not just for the parts of your life you're willing to show me, but for all of it. Your family, your business, your struggles. We can face it together."
He looked down at her, his expression unreadable for a moment, before he finally exhaled deeply. "I've spent my whole life trying to separate the different parts of me. Business. Family. Personal. I've never let anyone in, not like this. But now..." He trailed off, his voice thick with emotion.
Kara felt her heart stir at the rawness of his words. She reached up to cup his face, her thumb brushing over the line of his jaw. "You don't need to carry the weight of it all alone. I'm not just here for the easy moments, Alessandro. I'm here for the hard ones, too. Let me be a part of everything."
His eyes softened, and for a fleeting moment, she saw the man he had always been beneath the weight of responsibility. He leaned into her touch, his forehead resting against hers.
"I don't deserve you, Kara," he whispered, the words barely audible.
"You do," she replied, her voice steady. "You're not perfect, and neither am I. But together, we can figure this out. No more walls between us."

Alessandro's POV: Later That Day
As the afternoon sun began to set, casting a warm, golden light over the villa, Alessandro found himself in the study once again, the door open to the garden outside. Kara had left him alone for a while to focus on some of the details of the merger, but her words lingered in his mind. He had spent so much of his life keeping people at a distance, afraid of losing control.
But now, with Kara, he felt a sense of grounding he hadn't realized he needed. For the first time, he was allowing himself to trust, to lean on someone who wasn't just an obligation or a business partner. She was his partner in every sense of the word-someone who understood him, not just the persona he had created, but the real, imperfect man behind it all.
He stared at the documents in front of him, the merger contract still waiting to be signed, the weight of the decision pressing down on him. It was the final step-the one that would determine the future of De Luca Group, but also, in a way, the future of his own life.
With Kara by his side, he wasn't so sure he needed to make this decision alone. She had opened his eyes to the possibility that perhaps there was more to life than legacy, more than business. Maybe, for the first time, he could allow himself to prioritize what truly mattered.
He picked up his phone, dialing her number.
"Kara," he said when she picked up, "I need you here. We need to talk."

Kara's POV: A Few Moments Later
Kara made her way back to the study, her heart racing a little at the urgency in Alessandro's voice. When she entered the room, she found him standing by the window, his back to her, a tense air about him.
"What's going on?" she asked, walking up to him.
"I've been thinking about the merger, and everything it means," he said, turning to face her. "But I realized something-something important. I've been living for other people's expectations, for my family, for the business. But I haven't been living for me. And I haven't been living for us."
Kara's breath caught in her throat. She knew this was coming-the conversation about their future, about where they stood in all of this-but hearing him say the words was still a shock.
He took a step forward, his gaze unwavering. "I want to make a choice that's for us, Kara. I want to build something that's not just about the De Luca name, but about our lives, about what we want to create together."
Her heart raced as the weight of his words sank in. "Alessandro, are you saying what I think you're saying?"
He smiled, a small but genuine smile that reached his eyes. "Yes. I'm saying that I want to move forward with you, not just as my wife in name, but as my partner in everything. The business, the family, all of it. And I'm willing to fight for us."
Kara felt a surge of emotion, a mixture of relief, joy, and hope. "I'm with you, Alessandro. Every step of the way."
