Chapter 53 - Chapter 51

Chapter 51: The Unreliable Leader of Both Positive and Negative Wizards

Alexander slowly stood up from the bathtub. The water droplets on his body quietly vanished—no mist, no steam, just gone.

Seeing that he was done bathing and had changed into his pajamas, Kate hopped into the bathroom for her turn.

Lying quietly on the bed, Alexander ran Dumbledore's plan through his mind.

To him, Dumbledore's behavior was far too strange. In the original story, why did he accept death so easily?

After arriving in this world, Alexander began to notice that Dumbledore's actions hinted at something much darker—like the possibility that he might have even considered creating Horcruxes himself as a last resort.

The ring in the Gaunt family house—the cursed Resurrection Stone—would certainly kill its wearer, but it wouldn't prevent the creation of a Horcrux. So, if Dumbledore had made Horcruxes, how could he die so easily?

Now that he was truly living in this world, Alexander saw it more clearly. Dark wizards relentlessly pursued power. Villains were obsessed with dominance.

But the so-called "light" wizards? They were content with the status quo, uninterested in power, and often went so far as to prevent others from pursuing it.

If you don't take the opportunity, your enemy will.

In the original course of events, when Scrimgeour became Minister of Magic, he didn't fully understand Voldemort's strength, but at least he was proactive. Dumbledore, on the other hand, remained overly cautious, clinging to outdated plans.

And the result?

The Ministry of Magic fell to Voldemort. The Daily Prophet was silenced and became a mouthpiece of propaganda. Gringotts, the economic center of the wizarding world, was taken.

Yes, some of this stemmed from Dumbledore knowing Voldemort too well and trying to avoid triggering his immediate wrath. But still—his sudden "death plan" was baffling.

The fact that Dumbledore was tempted by the Resurrection Stone showed his weakness. The death of his sister had left deep scars. But why would someone as disciplined as Dumbledore fall for that?

Most likely, he believed the ending was already decided—even if he died, victory would follow.

He used his own death as part of a strategy: gain Voldemort's trust in Snape, protect Draco, sabotage the Elder Wand's power transfer, and soften the consequences of war.

With Dumbledore dead, Voldemort believed he had won and slowly began digesting his "victory." Instead of launching a brutal war immediately, he consolidated power quietly.

Snape took command of Hogwarts. And Voldemort? He didn't actually care that much about pure-blood ideology. He just feared death, hated Muggles, and craved total domination.

Under Voldemort, Muggle-born students were banned, but many still survived. Colin Creevey, a Muggle-born, was still at Hogwarts during the final battle, wearing a school uniform.

The Death Eaters didn't go on a killing spree. Instead, Muggle-borns lost their wands, their homes, and their rights—but not their lives.

Had Dumbledore been alive, the conflict might have looked like the First Wizarding War: brutal, direct, and filled with casualties.

Most importantly, the "Boy Who Lived," Harry Potter, was already spiritually connected to Voldemort after the latter's resurrection in Harry's fourth year.

Harry had unknowingly gained an extra life. Even if Voldemort had him killed, it would only destroy one Horcrux—hardly a loss. But Voldemort wouldn't dare do that; Dumbledore knew he'd be too cautious.

Dumbledore also left a portrait behind, which allowed him to guide Snape posthumously and adjust the plan.

Harry, still unknowingly carrying a Horcrux inside him, would be drawn toward the other Horcruxes by fate, and eventually destroy them all.

Dumbledore eventually told Snape the truth about Harry—he was the final Horcrux—and asked him to guide Harry to sacrifice himself when the time came.

Of course, even Dumbledore hadn't predicted Voldemort's obsession with the Deathly Hallows, especially the Elder Wand. That mistake cost Snape his life.

In the end, Dumbledore never created Horcruxes himself. Likely, he realized just how far gone Voldemort was. The side effects of Horcruxes had stripped Voldemort of humanity, reason, and even physical appearance.

If Dumbledore hadn't been cursed, he might have executed a smoother plan: pretending to compromise, secretly hunting down Horcruxes with Harry, and then facing Voldemort together.

When the time came, Harry would take the Killing Curse, destroying the final Horcrux inside him. Voldemort would be caught off guard and defeated.

Nagini? Don't worry about her. In such a scenario, Dumbledore might have even brought Grindelwald to the party.

"So… if I can just get the Resurrection Stone, I might not have to do anything?" Alexander thought with surprise.

In a world where Dumbledore wasn't cursed, Voldemort would likely have died sooner. Harry might've died in fifth year—but so would the Dark Lord.

Harry was actually right about many things. He repeatedly suspected there was a Horcrux at Hogwarts, but Hermione kept shutting him down.

Even when the Elder Wand broke, or when Harry barely escaped from Godric's Hollow—he was right. Nagini was a Horcrux.

If Dumbledore had accompanied him, it would've all ended early.

"No, I still shouldn't be too arrogant," Alexander muttered, wiping the smirk from his lips.

After all, if fate is truly a force in this world, anything could go wrong. Dumbledore was too reckless to try and destroy all the Horcruxes after Voldemort had already resurrected.

If fate exists, then Neville should be included too. It's insane to try and solo the Horcrux hunt without the Son of Prophecy.

Once Dumbledore was cursed, he had no choice but to share the burden with Snape and Harry. Before that, he probably intended to handle everything himself.

In the end, neither Dumbledore nor Voldemort could be called a reliable leader.
