Laura would be meeting with the remaining three spies in one of the untaken White Ash cities closest to the southern front. By making sure to push their southern front west they restrict the White Ash's access to the country at their southern border. If they can completely block their ability to trade with that country, they would be one step closer to victory.
After cutting through the front lines and arriving at the city, the first thing Laura decided to do, with great reluctance, was change her appearance. Much to her dismay, her face was starting to become recognized, and it wouldn't be a good idea for anyone to see Laura Underwood here.
She walked through the city with her old clothes and without her animal parts. She looked like a normal Human. She had also cropped her hair short, it no longer reached down her back but instead stopped right at her shoulders. Her light brown skin was also much darker in color to further change her appearance.
She really didn't want to change how she looked too much since she was very much attached to her appearance. It was the form that Zenesha knew and fell in love with, and changing it felt wrong to the wolf. So, while there were plenty of changes, her face looked almost the exact same as before, with just a slightly smaller nose and thinner lips.
Now all she had to do was meet up with one of the spies. The faster she could get through this, the better. She did have a secondary goal for being in the city and that was to plan out where to place explosives for maximum damage. She needed this, and a few other cities to die.
The goal was to conquer and control, so they've been trying to keep damage to the land to a minimum as best they could. Obviously, there was always going to be damage, it's unavoidable, but at least civilians weren't harmed. After all they would need human resources to make sure their newly acquired land would have enough hands to rebuild it.
There was still a problem with this, however. No matter the outcome, if they succeed, then the people will still dislike them. They were the invaders, and they killed their families. Doesn't matter that they were soldiers that died in battle, that isn't something easily forgiven.
Laura who had killed her own family didn't understand the sentiment completely. However, Zenesha tried her best to explain it. Asking Laura how she would feel if someone took her away from the wolf. Laura realized they needed to solve this problem fast after that
They needed to look like the better option somehow.
"Ah, look at the time, they should be here soon."
======
After another three days Laura had returned to one of the captured cities nearby near the White Ash southern border. They needed to move quickly because while they may have gotten a foothold in the central front, both the north and south fronts were struggling just to hold their ground. Their plans could even help ruin their supply chain and give their forces the edge they need to cover more ground.
Larua, Kathrin and the three Elites were all checking their gear before they left. While they were doing this Rachel had suddenly approached them.
"What are you planning Underwood?" She asked with suspicion.
"If you're worried about me doing something without approval, I already got it from Zenesha." Laura responded. "You may ask what I'm doing, but I'm under no obligation to tell you what I'm doing."
"Of course you got permission." Rachel muttered with clear annoyance. "You are her favorite after all."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Laura asked glaring at the cat.
She thought they would be less hostile to each other, and they were last time she checked. So why was the Condor suddenly being so passive aggressive? She looked at Rachel a little more closely and noticed the slight slouch in their poster, the bags under her eyes carefully hidden by makeup and the fact her eyes were red with strain.
The woman was stressed.
"Nothing. Just that you could get away with anything, and we could never even be permitted to know." Rachel snapped. "I just need to make sure whatever you're doing isn't going to make things worse for us."
"It won't. Don't worry about it." Laura reassured her. "Get some sleep, Condor. You look stressed."
The cat glared but simply nodded. It looked like she stormed over here without much of a plan and ended up being easily pacified. After Rachel left Laura turned back to the other four individuals in the room. They had finished their preparations and were ready to go at any moment.
They were all dressed as White Ash forces. Specifically, from the intelligent bureau. Laura had recreated the uniforms from the memories she had gotten and made sure to share what she knew with their own intelligence agency so they could recreate the outfits for the rest of her team.
Even Kathrin changed much to her disappointment.
However, they were still missing some crucial items, and so they would need to locate real officers before anything else. They needed to get to one of the city's first though and Laura already knew how she would get everyone there undetected.
It was now time for the wolf to reveal some of her abilities to her team. Though what she was about to reveal was already a popular theory on what her powers could possibly be among the military already. She never really did try to explain how she would appear in locations without anyone noticing after all.
"Alright everyone, hang onto me." She ordered.
The other got closer and each one placed a hand on her arms or shoulders. Once she was sure everyone was touching her, Laura teleported into a back alley in the city she had left yesterday. She took a step back and let Kathrin and the Elites get a hold of their surroundings first before they moved out.
'Or just the Elites since Kathrin seems wholly unsurprised and unbothered.' Laura thought appreciating the stoic maid trope.
"There's a safehouse nearby we can stay in until tomorrow." Laura started once everyone seemed to be back to normal. "After that we'll find the intelligence officers that will arrive tomorrow evening according to our intel."
She looked at the four of them. "Any questions?"
"No Ma'am."
"Then let's go."
