Chapter 2: Into the Forge Lands
Rain's POV
It took us the whole damned day to reach the Forge Lands. And if I'm being honest, it was mostly Batista's fault. He was too slow — dragging his feet, coughing every five steps like his lungs were about to fall out. Every time we stopped for him to catch his breath, my patience frayed a little more. I swear, if looks could kill, he would've dropped dead long before we reached that cursed place.
By the time we finally arrived, the sky had already darkened to a heavy, suffocating black. Not the kind of night you find under trees or by the sea, no — this darkness felt thicker, like it had weight. It pressed against my skin, clung to my clothes, and settled in my throat like smoke.
