Chapter 8 - 8. The Wind Rises

"What did you do to her!!! S-she... do you know how much that woman meant to me!?!?" Volleys of compressed wind pellets went shooting towards my direction.

"Well I'm sorry alright, it was just coincidence she happened to be my first victim in this world. But don't worry, I get to keep aaaalll her memories, I can replace her for you." I said, in a now feminine voice. It seems like this was one of the abilities I was gifted by the God to adjust in this new world. Wasn't it just fine to make clear use of it? "Y-You! You're a provident aren't you! No wonder you sicken me to my stomach... I-I...I'll wipe out every single one of you bastards!" The man began to slur his words due to his overwhelming anger. He pulled his leather gloves back, tightening it even further and compressed a single pellet of wind right above his thumb. He then made a hand sign akin to what you would do when trying to flick a marble. He charged for a few seconds while I stood in front unable to do anything. The wind was too strong for me to get close and this body has barely any strength nor any useful abilities. My insignificant earth magic wouldn't also be able to do a thing here. Heh, perhaps I can finally get what I was looking for right this moment. "Take this you sickening bastard! I part...the eye of the storm... WIND-...BREAKER!!!" the tiny pellet in his hand shot out with tremendous speed and strength tearing apart everything in its path even the facade I wore was torn apart, showing my true form. At this moment it was like the world slowed down for me. I closed my eyes and huh? Was I grinning right now...? Am I happy? Hah so this is what that emotion felt. Not bad... Not bad. "El divina!!!" A sharp voice called out from behind me. "What?" I opened my eyes to see a golden trident clashing the tiny pellet that should've killed me. "Get out of the way now!!" I swiftly leaped to the side and fell, tasting the crumbly earth. "What a displeasure to meet you again, Aster." A woman's voice. The one I talked to back then. "The first thing you do when put into a new world, a place where you can restart is... *sigh absolutely putrid."

She said in a disgusted and cold voice. "I have my own circumstances." I replied to her straightforwardly. "You-You disgusting fiends!!! Why do you save this bastard who doesn't deserve to live!" Shouted the man who shot at me. "Yes, I do agree such a person doesn't deserve to live but... If they still carry a use for me, well then I will make do as necessary." "Ghk.. You providents are all the same! Absolutely vile... Ascetus come out!! Tonight we shall purge two of seven tumors from this world." A person slowly started to materialize from nothingness no, perhaps the thick wind was just masking his presence. "I, Phobos the ninth numeral swear on the dignity of the astral clocktower the deaths of two providents. Grant me power virgo. Power to crush these fiends!"

He pulled something like an orb attached to his glove and crushed it. The earth beneath as if in response to his calls began to violently shake. "Going all out eh? This is sti gonna be tough, let me handle the girl and her providence. I know you want your hands on that bastard right in front." Ascetus, fully materialized. He grinned as he combed his already slicked back cyan hair. His light armor made a clink clank sound as he inched closer to us. He glared at me with his purplish eyes and dashed forth. "What're you doing stuck in a daze there! Can't you see a fights comin up! Move!!! I refuse for this endeavor to be a complete loss for me!" She shouted as she ordered her providence to block the claymore swung by Ascetus. "Hey, better follow my masters orders than stay in a daze there friend. We can retreat when it gets too risky without any problems after all."

Said the man with the trident forking the big claymore. "Shut yer trap azrael and focus on the task at hand. I'll focus on supporting him with my strings, so he won't be going into a daze anytime soon. Come on now! Up you...go!" As she said that I felt my body lighten, and lift up gently. I looked to my sides and there I saw thick silver strings coiling my arms and legs. "Thanks, with this I think I should be able to keep up with him." I replied. "Good, well then I'll focus up on this guy. Also isn't it about time you use your providence? Had I not come in to save you earlier you would've actually died right? What were you saving it for idiot?" She said rudely. "Well the thing is...unlike you I don't have a guy like that! What? Is it just something you materialize or some sh*t? Would've been nice to have that minute one you know!" She must've been taken aback by what I said. She scratched her head, let out a deep sigh, and turned her back to me. Bang bang bang bang! A couple of wind pellets started launching in my direction. A few hit me but I couldn't feel anything due to the strings absorbing all the damage. Despite my swift constitution though, predicting where these would hit was another question itself. "It seems you find yourself between a rock and a hard place right now my master?" A voice? Hmph this cheeky bastard thinks he can be useful now as if I wasn't close to dying mere seconds ago. "I do apologize for my lateness but you see, the summoning process is sparked by emotion. Such thing is not possessed by yours truly am I correct?" Well, I'm starting to get an irritating feeling inside me right now. Would that be anger? "How truly impatient, arcana magicka!!!" A blue dome formed around me blocking all wind pellets coming straight at me. "Dammit! Another one materialized?!?! No matter, You're weaker the fresher you are out of the oven!" Shouted Phobos. "Hm, that may be true but what say you we put that theorem to the test eh?" It was a dapper middle aged man donning formal attire and a monocle to go along his sleek gray hair. He had a book in his left and a small quill in the right. As he waved the quill blue sparks flew out towards each pellet heading in our direction. "Tch seems like this battles only getting tougher. What's the situation over ere Ascetus?" "Ha! Yah! I can handle this. Right now it's a battle of attrition but eventually these fools will begin to burn out. We just need to hold on."

The bright blue cracked moon shone over the two clashing with the providents.

It seems that this fight was not going to slow down anytime soon.
