. . . . . . . . . . . .
Early the next morning, Ye Anping groggily opened his eyes. The moment he saw a beautiful woman still sleeping soundly beside him, he almost jumped in shock. It took him a few seconds of dazed blinking before the memories of last night came rushing back.
Bai Yuelin was curled up next to him, a sweet smile playing on her lips as she dreamed peacefully, completely unaware of the chaos blooming inside Ye Anping's mind.
As he looked at the senior sister's serene face and those soft, slightly parted lips moving gently with her breath, a strange heat began to stir in his chest—an irresistible urge to lean over and kiss her.
But Ye Anping quickly snapped out of it, realizing the sensation was probably due to the pheromones in Bai Yuelin's scent. The hormones and dopamine it triggered in his brain had conspired to spark this primal impulse.
As the old saying went:
When you have a beauty in your arm, your mushroom start to pierce the heavens.
"…Guess I've really hit that age, huh?" he muttered with a long sigh.
And that's when he noticed something else.
An uncomfortable tightness in his pants.
He threw off the blanket and took a look—and his face immediately darkened.
Yup.
Morning wood.
Instead of embarrassment or panic, Ye Anping was surprised to feel a wave of… nostalgia.
It was, in fact, the first time since arriving in this world that he had experienced a proper morning erection.
He remembered reading back on Earth that this typically happens around age fourteen for boys—seen as a milestone of maturity, a sign that the fruit was ripe for picking…
'What the hell is wrong with me?!'
Ye Anping's face went completely stiff. Without wasting a second, he rolled out of bed and fled to the courtyard. There, he immediately began practicing martial arts, hoping that the rigorous exercise would help his body metabolize the excess dopamine and hormones and clear his head.
By the time he reached the third set of techniques, two flying swords suddenly zipped across the sky above his courtyard.
At first, he thought nothing of it—probably just some fellow disciples from the Profound Star Sect heading to early morning classes.
But then, the swords turned around.
And came straight toward his courtyard.
"...???"
Ye Anping's brows furrowed.
'Did I accidentally break some sect rule?'
He hadn't done anything besides asking around about the sect and decorating the store these past couple of days…
Wait.
Bai Yuelin!
Still asleep in his room!
His face turned pale. He gasped sharply and immediately bolted back toward his bedroom.
Unfortunately, he was a second too late.
Just as his hand touched the door, a firm hand clamped down on his shoulder.
"Junior Brother."
"… …"
Ye Anping froze. Slowly, he turned his head to see who it was.
Behind him stood a male disciple from Sky Cloud Peak—one of the sword cultivators of the Profound Star Sect. At his sides were two female sword cultivators, both frowning as they studied him with serious eyes.
Ye Anping gave them an awkward smile, quickly cupping his hands in salute. "Senior Brothers, Senior Sisters… is there something I can help you with?"
The man looked him up and down, then politely returned the salute. "We'd like to ask… did Junior Sister Bai come to see you last night?"
As expected… they were here for Bai Yuelin.
Ye Anping's face stiffened further. He scratched his cheek, knowing he couldn't lie his way out of this one.
"…She did."
The man raised an eyebrow and exchanged a look with the two women behind him.
"Is she still here?" he asked.
Ye Anping paused for a second. Then, forcing a calm smile, he turned to lead them toward the therapy parlor.
No matter what, he could NOT let them into his bedroom.
If they went into his room now, they'd see Bai Yuelin lying there in disheveled clothes on his bed. There'd be no end to the misunderstandings after that.
"Senior Brothers, Senior Sisters, please—why don't you rest in the hall for a moment? I'll go wake Senior Bai and bring her over."
But fate, it seemed, had other plans for Ye Anping.
Just as he turned to stall them—click—The bedroom door opened… from the inside.
Bai Yuelin, still half-asleep, had heard voices outside. Groggily realizing that her beloved body pillow had gone missing, she got up to go looking for it—only to open the door right into two very wide-eyed sectmates.
Her hair was a bird's nest, her robes were slipping off one shoulder, and her face was still flushed with sleep.
Ye Anping's soul nearly left his body.
The male senior quickly turned his head aside, looking anywhere else as fast as possible. The female disciple next to him just froze, covering her mouth in shock as her eyes darted between Bai Yuelin and Ye Anping like she was putting together a scandalous jigsaw puzzle.
Bai Yuelin, now fully awake, also froze like a deer in headlights.
Then came the chaos.
She yanked her robes into place, scrambling to fix her hair as she stammered, "S-Senior Brother Chen? Junior Sister Liu? You—what are you doing here?!"
The woman, Junior Sister Liu, finally exhaled and rushed forward with worry. "Senior Sister Bai! Why didn't you say anything before running off like that? We saw the letter you left and panicked—we've been searching everywhere for you!"
She pulled out a folded letter from her storage bag and handed it to Bai Yuelin. "This farewell letter—don't worry, we kept it from Master. You're overthinking things! Just because you were knocked off the stage in the sparring trial doesn't mean you need to quit the sect!"
"Ah…" Bai Yuelin quietly accepted the letter, nodding with guilt. "I just…"
"Do you have any idea how many people would kill for a chance to enter the Profound Star Sect? And here you are trying to leave—it's such a waste!"
Bai Yuelin pressed her lips together, trying to take it all in. But something still felt off.
"…But, how did you know where to find me?"
"Ah… well…" Liu coughed awkwardly, then leaned in and whispered near her ear, "You know, the other day in the business registration office… that little room you and that cute little guy were in…"
"Wait—that?"
"I figured you might come looking for him again, so I asked Senior Brother Chen to come with me. And what do you know—you were here. Honestly, Senior Sister, you always seemed so proper, but you're surprisingly bold."
Bai Yuelin froze as memories of that day surfaced—when Ye Anping had massaged her feet during the shop application process. Her face turned crimson.
"N-no, Junior Sister Liu, it's not like that! That was a misunderstanding! I—he and I aren't—!"
"It's fine, it's fine," Liu waved it off with a giggle. "Everyone in the sect already knows about you two."
"…Everyone?" Bai Yuelin blinked, horrified.
"Yup! And don't worry, none of the sisters told Master. In fact, a few are even jealous you found your Dao Companion already."
As she said this, she gave Ye Anping a sideways glance and chuckled, "I mean, he is really cute. Fair-skinned and pretty—just a little young."
"Ah—"
Bai Yuelin opened her mouth to argue, but words failed her. What could she even say?
After a long pause, she glanced at Ye Anping—who looked like he'd just been hit by a falling star—and sighed.
"…Fine. Since you already know… he is my Dao Companion."
"???"
Ye Anping, standing nearby, had question marks practically spinning over his head.
'Since when was I promoted to "Dao Companion"?!'
But Bai Yuelin ignored his stunned expression and turned back to Liu. "Junior Sister, I'm sorry for yesterday. I shouldn't have left the sect so suddenly."
"It's fine, really. There's nothing wrong with it," Liu said with a grin, looping her arm around Bai Yuelin's. "Getting knocked off the stage in front of so many people… Honestly, if it were me, I'd be sulking for days too."
She tugged Bai Yuelin gently toward the therapy clinic. "Anyway, your little Dao Companion actually opened a store in the market street? What's he selling?"
"He does therapeutic treatment," Bai Yuelin replied with a proud little smile.
"Therapeutic treatment? What's that?"
"I'll have him show you in a bit—it's super comfortable. You'll love it. One session and I promise you'll be coming back for more."
"Ooh, sounds nice! I guess we should support your little Dao Companion's business then."
The male senior at their side waved a hand. "I'll pass, thanks."
But Bai Yuelin turned toward him eagerly. "Senior Brother Chen, you should give it a try too. It's really beneficial for cultivation—better than taking pills even, and not expensive at all!"
"Good for cultivation?" Senior Brother Chen raised an eyebrow, glancing skeptically at Ye Anping, who still looked mortified in the background. "Junior Brother, I've never heard of this 'therapeutic treatment' thing before…"
Ye Anping gave Bai Yuelin a look that screamed "Are you serious right now?"
Still, after a moment of thought, he reconsidered. These two were inner sect disciples—having them as customers would be great publicity.
Weighing his options, Ye Anping finally nodded and said, "Once you try it, you'll understand. Normally it's fifty spirit stones per session, but since you're friends of Senior Bai, I'll give you a 20% discount—forty spirit stones sound fair?"
"Forty, huh? Still not cheap." Senior Brother Chen chuckled. "But fair enough. I'm warning you though—if it doesn't work, I'm not paying."
"Don't worry. It'll be worth every stone. Please, take a seat inside while I prepare."
With nods of agreement, the two walked into the therapy clinic, chatting casually.
Once they were inside, Ye Anping finally turned to Bai Yuelin, his face full of question marks. "Senior Bai… why did you tell them I was your Dao Companion?"
"Ah…" Bai Yuelin laughed awkwardly, her cheeks glowing red. "Right… you probably don't know what a Dao Companion is yet, huh? Let me explain—"
"… …"
"A Dao Companion is, um… a man and a woman who've… shared the same bed." She mumbled the last part, looking like she had absolutely zero confidence in her own definition. "So, that means we're technically Dao Companions now."
"… …"
Ye Anping let out a long sigh. "Senior Bai."
"Hm? What is it?"
"I do know what a Dao Companion is. And I also know what dual cultivation means. Don't think that just because I look young, I am young."
"Ah…" Bai Yuelin's face instantly turned beet red, and she looked away in flustered panic.
"Senior Bai," Ye Anping narrowed his eyes, "Don't tell me… you've actually taken a liking to me?"
"Wha—? N-no! What are you saying?!" she stammered, clearly caught off guard. Then she quickly changed the subject, "A-anyway! I just brought you two new customers, didn't I?!"
"… …"
"Hurry up and get ready. I'll start recommending your store to the other disciples back at the Profound Star Sect. You'll have more customers than you know what to do with, and you won't even need to advertise. I'll do it for you!"
"Fine," Ye Anping rolled his eyes, "But please stop telling people I'm your Dao Companion."
"I will! I'll explain it to them when I get back."
"No. Not when you get back—go explain it now."
"Okay, okay! I'll go explain it right now, happy?!"
"Hmph."
With a final exasperated sigh, Ye Anping turned and headed into the bedroom to change clothes.
As he walked away, Bai Yuelin watched his back with a quiet smile tugging at her lips. Then, with a soft hum, she headed into the therapy clinic to chat with her fellow disciples.
