Chesca and her friends quickly took the path where they used to meet Isabel's group. They had groceries that could serve as an alibi for their long absence.
They had already spotted the hut then; it was near William's house. This was done to monitor the movements of the two. Good thing there were no people there yet.
They had to be careful with every move they made because there were eyes watching them.
They both sighed at the same time. They arrived at the hut just before dusk. They first cleaned and prepared.
Her father, her younger brother, and her extended family—who always follow her—will clean up the messes they have made. Her sister, Mikaela, has decided to enter their house.
"Hello," they heard a voice.
So, Thalia looked to see who had come to their hut. She also looked while organizing; Thalia was being talked to down there.
There were eyes watching her, prompting Thalia to turn and look; meanwhile, Ericka appeared to be lost in thought. She heard that this would continue, where they would be together, and when they became comfortable with each other, that's when the unexpected would happen.
Isabel also greeted her with a cheerful smile, along with Tricia. She needs to strengthen her resolve now, no matter what happens.
They also need to find the two items that her mother and Fernan buried. She knew they couldn't move properly because Isabel was here, but Thalia had a plan in place back then.
The darkness had already set in, and they had prepared something to eat, so she assisted Ericka, who was occupied with preparing the ingredients.
"What can I help with?" she casually said to her.
She just looked at her and smiled. "Just help me chop the ingredients for now." She said.
"Okay." She nodded immediately.
They ate after they finished cooking. It seems they have known each other for a long time because of the laughter they are sharing now, joyful conversations that she knows are not genuine.
"I told you, Isabel, it's really more fun when there are more people." Tricia said.
Isabel was just happily laughing back then. "Yeah, yeah. I thought Thalia wasn't a cheerful person, so I didn't think of that." She said, teasingly. Chesca didn't know if she was hinting at Thalia now or if it was just her happiness.
Thalia simply responded with a faint smile and didn't say anything more.
Their conversation was joyful until they got worn out and went to their respective rooms. There were just the three of them in one room.
Ericka looked at the time.
"There are a few hours left; let's rest for now." Ericka's suggestion.
Thalia and Chesca both nodded in agreement.
As she closed her eyes, her two siblings waited.
Sister Chesca was immediately mentioned.
It didn't speak; it walked, and she noticed she was in a dense forest. Chesca could still see her sister walking in the air, as if telling her to follow her.
She traversed the forest then; it was hushed. She is now in a place devoid of people, and the only sound she can hear is the wind rustling the leaves. She scanned her surroundings.
Chesca caught sight of a woman in pursuit.
"I need to hide this; I need to." She heard a woman whispering as she dug; she saw her brown envelope.
She gasped because it was her mother.
Mommy? She questioned in her mind.
She recalled, as a young child, the time when her mother suddenly disappeared and later returned in a state of distress.
A few days later, she heard her mother sobbing and pleading with her father, and she saw firsthand how her mother met her end.
She understood what happened. She was aware that she had met with a police officer her mother trusted before her father killed her.
I need to see the contents of that brown envelope. She thought to herself.
It has been hidden in the depths of the soil for long enough, and as she looked around, she realized she could not see anything due to the engulfing darkness. The gloomy weather enveloped her in darkness, making it impossible for her to see.
"In a short time, they will need this, because it will help them."
Afterwards, she hurriedly headed to the dark part of the forest; she no longer knew where her mother, Bianca, had gone.
Her thoughts returned to that time, and she was suddenly shocked to find herself standing in the dense forest.
Chesca felt anxious; she knew this had happened to her before, at the camping trip where her older twin sister had taken her and where they were killed.
She was wearing her pajamas.
I need to go back. She kept looking around; she was about to dig, using her palms back then. Her plan took a surprising turn when a light suddenly appeared in her vision.
I need to hide! She immediately hid before the owner of the light could see her.
Fortunately, she quickly found a hiding place. She was already sweating, trying not to make any light.
"Where are they?" The only voice she heard was a woman's.
Chesca peeked out and immediately saw Isabel standing nearby. Tricia noticed her hiding, so Tricia immediately shone a light in her direction; to avoid detection, Chesca quickly lay flat and crawled slowly.
"What the heck, Tricia?" Isabel complained.
"Ah, sorry, I thought there was someone there, so I shone the light. My mistake."
"Let's see what you're saying; maybe they really are there."
She was hiding cautiously in the dense forests back then. Two people are indeed following her.
Instincts! Instincts! Of women. She thought to herself.
When someone suddenly pulled her hand and hid her, she thought the two were going to catch her. She narrowly escaped detection.
"Shh." That's all she heard. She noticed the two shadows and watched their movements quietly.
"I really thought there was someone there." Tricia said this while letting out a sigh.
"Let's go," that's all they heard from Isabel.
They realized they were about to leave and took a moment to observe their surroundings again before emerging from their hiding place.
"Where are you going?" was Ericka's only question to her.
"Sorry, I don't know either; I'm just following my two older sisters, and I ended up here." She said and sighed.
Thalia's forehead furrowed.
"This is the third time you've done that, Chesca." She just shook her head and stared at her.
