Chapter 51 - Chapter 48. The double date surprise

The double date was on. Megyn and Cindy prepared with excitement, their hearts bubbling with anticipation. This time, the guys came to their rooms individually to pick them up. It was a simple gesture, but it made the girls feel treasured. Outside, on the campus grounds, a sleek helicopter awaited.

This wasn't the first time Megyn and Benjamin had escaped the city for a surprise getaway—sometimes even crossing borders to the neighbouring countries.

Usually, Benjamin flew the helicopter himself, but tonight was different. A uniformed pilot waited in the cockpit. That meant Benjamin had planned something—and wanted to be fully present with her.

As the rotor picked up speed and the chopper lifted off, Megyn nestled into Benjamin's side, resting her head on his shoulder. The soft hum of the engine and the distant lights of the city below gave her a comforting sense of calm. She didn't know where they were headed, but she didn't need to. With Benjamin beside her, she was home and completely safe.

Cindy and Evans, seated behind them, were deep in a lively conversation. Whatever they were discussing seemed animated and engaging, judging by Cindy's wide gestures and Evans' laughter.

The flight lasted only thirty minutes. They touched down on a manicured lawn beside a vast, glittering water body. The night breeze carried the unmistakable scent of salt and seaweed. Palm trees swayed gently in the wind. Megyn stepped out of the helicopter and took in her surroundings. Though it was dark, the atmosphere was warm and familiar.

From the soft accents of the staff and the coastal breeze, she knew they were somewhere near the sea. It had to be Pwani County—or possibly the famous coastal town in the neighboring country. The regional accent gave it away.

Cindy didn't have to guess. Her jaw dropped as she scanned the elegant structure before them. The name was etched in gold across the glass doors.

Cindy instantly recognized the location. Her eyes lit up with delight.

"Oh my God, Megyn," she whispered in disbelief. "It's Pwani Sunset Hotel!"

She turned to Megyn in disbelief and excitement. "Megyn! This is the place I always dreamed of coming to!"

Megyn smiled, amused by Cindy's excitement.

She tugged at Megyn's hand excitedly as they followed the gentlemen up the stone path.

"Does this also belong to the Hawis?" she asked breathlessly.

Megyn paused, tilted her head slightly, and smiled. "I think it's one of their properties. Nowadays, anything with the Sunset brand usually is."

Cindy's eyes widened in amazement. She had always dreamed of dining at this prestigious hotel, but it had seemed far out of reach. Growing up in this city with her mother after losing her father, she had admired the place from afar for years.

Inside, they were welcomed into a grand dining hall, hands clasped and heads held high. The hotel staff - Waiters in crisp uniforms moved about with graceful efficiency - immediately recognized Benjamin - and this time, Evans as well.

A striking, light-skinned lady greeted them at the entrance with a warm smile.

"Good evening, Mr. Hawi. Good evening, Mr. Sang'i."

The two men responded in unison, "Good evening, Ann-Marie."

Benjamin turned to the ladies. "Ann-Marie, meet Megyn, my fiancée."

Megyn extended her hand politely, smiling.

Before Benjamin could introduce Cindy, Evans stepped in, wearing his signature grin. "...and meet Cindy, my lovely girlfriend."

Cindy chuckled, exchanging looks with Evans, then Megyn, who beamed in support. Benjamin, unfazed, nodded as if he had seen it coming.

Cindy extended her hand to Ann-Marie.

"Megyn, Cindy," Benjamin continued, "meet Ann-Marie—the hotel's general manager."

The three women exchanged warm pleasantries. "It's a pleasure to meet you," they said in unison.

Benjamin turned to Ann-Marie with a playful smirk. "Now show us what you have. We're starving."

She chuckled. "Follow me, please."

She led them to a private table for four, set beside a panoramic window overlooking the sea and a stretch of private beach. The cool ocean breeze flowed in gently. The rhythmic lapping of the waves and the soft music playing in the background created the perfect romantic ambiance.

Two waiters stood by, ready to serve. The dinner was a three-course culinary delight, prepared with finesse. They took their time enjoying every bite, savoring the richness and flavors of each dish.

Their table was alive with conversation and laughter. Joy surrounded them like a warm cloak. After dinner, the lights dimmed slightly, and a live band began to play soft music.

Megyn's heart skipped a bit. The band was playing their song -

"Princess."

She stood and smiled at Benjamin. Benjamin stood up too, held out his hand, and said softly, "May I have this dance?"

She took his hand, and together they moved to the center of the dance floor.

For the first time in her life, Megyn danced on a real dance floor. Wrapped in Benjamin's arms, she moved gently to the rhythm of the song that had marked the beginning of their journey.

Suddenly, the music stopped.

Megyn gasped, disappointed. Benjamin looked at her and smiled. A collective sigh of disappointment rose—but was quickly replaced by curiosity.

Evans stepped up, holding a microphone with a sly smile.

"Ladies and gentlemen, join me in a countdown!"

People looked around in surprise, then joined in.

"Ten… nine… eight… seven…"

Other diners and guests joined in enthusiastically.

"…six… five… four… three… two… one!"

As the countdown ended, shimmering glitters fell from above like stardust, and a massive screen lit up on one of the walls.

15th June 2024

Then, in bold gold letters:

MEGYN WEDS BENJAMIN ON 15TH JUNE 2024

Cheers erupted across the room. The screen changed again, now showing a heartwarming slideshow: Benjamin and Megyn on their first date, the proposal, their engagement party, fun moments during their escapades, and even photos from that very night, already captured and curated.

Megyn covered her mouth in disbelief, her eyes welling with tears. Benjamin looked at her with deep affection, a soft smile playing on his lips. He had planned everything. He had shared their love story with the world.

Around them, phones flashed as the moment went viral. The entire room celebrated with them.

The announcement had been made—and the internet exploded. Within minutes, social media was flooded with their pictures and news of their upcoming wedding.

As the atmosphere sizzled with love and excitement, Evans pulled Cindy close and looked into her eyes.

"Cindy," he said gently, "will you be my girlfriend?" Cindy, caught up in the wonder of the night, didn't hesitate. "Yes." Their laughter joined the music as they embraced, spinning once in joyful disbelief.

As they boarded the helicopter for their return to the city, Megyn leaned back and sighed with joy. Her heart was overflowing.

This man, Benjamin. Always surprising her. Her love for him was no longer a quiet stream—it was a river, flowing, rushing, and unstoppable.

Cindy and Evans, too, were inseparable. They chatted and giggled the entire flight back, wrapped in their own happy bubble.

Before long, the city lights reappeared beneath them. They were back—but their hearts remained in that unforgettable evening.
