Chapter 28 - New Skills

Blaine spent a few more peaceful days at school.

During these days, he spent several million dollars purchasing new skills and items after going through things in the system shop.

Host: Blaine

Physical Strength: 10

Hunter Level: D

Abilities: [Absolute Hit (Lv.3)], [Combat Techniques ] [Mind Sense (Lv.2)], [Hawkeye (Lv.2)]

Equipment: [Hunter Suit], [Elemental Bow (+5)], [White Snake's Bow (+5)], [Tracking Paper Cranes (×5)]

The items he bought were [Tracking Paper Cranes], [Mind Sense], and [Hawkeye].

[Tracking Paper Cranes] are consumable items. Although called paper cranes, they can actually take any form in the world. For a Bounty Hunter like Blaine who specializes in tracking targets, their usefulness was obvious—so he bought five at once.

[Mind Sense] and [Hawkeye] are both skills.

The description of [Mind Sense] is a bit complicated, but in essence, it's a perception-type skill that might seem useless at first. Despite its name, it doesn't sense others directly but rather allows the user to sense through their own mind.

The main use is that once activated, Blaine could subtly detect the level of danger around him and sense nearby enemies.

At Lv.1, [Mind Sense] had a range of about 100 meters.

Even if it detected enemies, it was hard to sense what equipment they carried—basically useless.

Thus, Blaine directly upgraded [Mind Sense] to Lv.2.

At Lv.2, the range became much greater—up to 1000 meters.

However, the farther the distance, the fuzzier the perception.

As for [Hawkeye], it's not the Hawkeye from the Avengers.

Instead, it grants true hawk-like vision: incredibly sharp eyesight and a wide field of view.

Although it doesn't reach a level of "All Seeing Eyes" of Heimdall.

After reaching Lv.2, it undergoes a qualitative leap—allowing Blaine to lift his vision skyward in a small radius, gaining a god-like aerial perspective.

At first glance, [Hawkeye] might seem redundant alongside [Mind Sense], but in reality, they complement each other perfectly.

[Hawkeye] leans more toward direct offensive use, enhancing vision for aiming and precision attacks.

[Mind Sense] is better for stealth and assassination—detecting danger in advance and always being alert.

Any slight movement or disturbance could be instantly noticed, and in case of danger, [Mind Sense] would produce a huge warning reaction—much more sensitive than [Hawkeye].

That's also the main reason Blaine bought [Mind Sense]—If you ask why?

Simple: he was afraid of dying.

By stepping into the Bounty Hunter business, Blaine was destined to make countless enemies. Take the Tony Stark mission, for instance—if he actually killed Tony, he would probably have S.H.I.E.L.D. added to his enemies list.

Exposure of his identity was inevitable. Being targeted was inevitable too.

Buying [Mind Sense] was Blaine's last line of defense for himself— At least it would keep him from dying without even knowing how it happened.

In short, for someone like Blaine who currently fought with bows and arrows, these two skills were extremely useful.

Each [Tracking Paper Crane] cost 50,000 dollars, so five of them cost 250,000.

Buying [Hawkeye] cost 100,000, and upgrading it to Lv.2 cost another 1,000,000.

Buying [Mind Sense] cost 100,000 and upgrading it to Lv.2 also cost 1,000,000.

Altogether, this shopping spree cost Blaine about 2.45 million.

Blaine felt that with [Hawkeye] combined with [Absolute Hit Lv.3] and the [Elemental Bow], he could now use his attacks much more comfortably.

As long as there were no obstacles, seeing a kilometer away with complete accuracy was no longer just a dream.

It's just that these past few days, he hadn't had much chance to use it. Spending most of his time hanging out with Peter, which made Blaine's hands itch for action.

What Blaine didn't know was—Peter had been feeling increasingly strange lately.

He realized that his Spider-Sense wasn't going haywire randomly.

Ordinarily, losing control would be sporadic, but this time it was different.

Over these few days, Peter felt that Blaine was becoming more and more dangerous. The sense of danger had reached an extreme.

Just approaching Blaine triggered a horrifying feeling, like staring into an abyss.

Peter's instincts kept screaming at him to get away from Blaine.

Typical biological self-preservation?

Eventually, his Spider-Sense simply stopped warning him altogether, perhaps because it realized there was no resisting Blaine anymore.

Peter could only scratch his head cluelessly, burying his confusion deep inside and choosing not to question it further.

Peter was a pure-hearted kid—he didn't think Blaine would ever hurt him.

Anyway, during these days, little Spider-Man Peter had witnessed Blaine's strength growing by leaps and bounds—an incredible improvement.

(P.S.: Blaine's about to leave New York to take on a new mission! If you've watched "Teen Wolf," you'll know what's coming. If not, just treat it like a normal hunting mission—it'll only take a few chapters, and then we'll smoothly transition into a lot more story arcs.)
