This feeling was awful. Wang Qiu'er tried to force herself not to think about that guy, but that's just how it was—the harder she tried to forget, the more deeply engraved it became.
If there were any seasoned playboys around, they'd know this was because someone had left too strong an impression on another person. Even if it wasn't a good impression, it was enough to make it unforgettable.
It was just like how people can't forget their first love—it's all about that unique feeling.
Huo Yuhao had no idea that while he was busy dealing with one problem, he'd inadvertently planted the seeds of a bigger one.
Back in the classroom, Wang Qiu'er sat at her seat, doing her best not to think about that guy.
The next day, the seat beside her was empty.
Wang Qiu'er frowned slightly.
Day three—still empty.
Day six—still the same.
Wang Qiu'er couldn't sit still anymore. He hadn't shown up to class for six days. Thinking back to Huo Yuhao's condition a few days ago, could something have happened to him?
Finally, at noon that day, Wang Qiu'er quietly made her way to the lakeside villa, hiding behind a large tree. She watched the two figures by the lake—one large, one small.
The small one was naturally Huo Yuhao. The larger one she didn't recognize, but then she saw a large surge of white light radiate from him. Under the light, Huo Yuhao looked like he was in intense agony before collapsing on the ground.
At last, Wang Qiu'er understood why Huo Yuhao's face had looked worse and worse lately. With this kind of inhuman training, it would be a miracle if he looked normal.
She didn't step forward—just quietly stayed hidden. Even after over an hour had passed and Huo Yuhao woke up, she didn't show herself.
Like a mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind, Wang Qiu'er didn't know that a pair of eyes had been watching her this whole time.
"That little girl again? Didn't she have a falling-out with the young master? Why's she here again?" In the shadows, a skinny young man muttered to himself. His name was Huang Yan, an elder of the Body Sect and an 89th-level Soul Douluo. He had been ordered by the Sect Master to protect the young master.
The "young master," of course, referred to Huo Yuhao, who had been accepted as a disciple by Du Busi.
By rights, outsiders weren't supposed to come near during the young master's special period, but this girl seemed to have a complicated relationship with him. Huang Yan had even seen her once running out of Huo Yuhao's house with disheveled clothes—what happened between them didn't need to be spelled out.
Huo Yuhao staggered into the house, so mentally drained that he didn't even notice Wang Qiu'er hiding behind the tree. Normally, with his spiritual sensitivity, there's no way she could've escaped his notice at that distance.
Only when Huo Yuhao's figure disappeared from sight did Wang Qiu'er quietly leave.
The next day, Huang Yan again saw the little girl sneaking around the same spot.
Day three. Day four. Same routine.
Just like that, over a month passed. Every day at noon, without fail, Wang Qiu'er appeared—never once approaching Huo Yuhao, never once revealing herself.
Huang Yan had gotten used to it and simply treated her like she wasn't there. At the same time, he mentally gave a thumbs-up to his young master: This kid's got serious game for his age.
During that time, others had tried to visit Huo Yuhao—like Wang Dong, Bei Bei, and Tang Ya—but Huang Yan intercepted them all. Of course, he never showed himself.
The next day, Du Busi was once again channeling spiritual pressure onto his beloved disciple. It had been a full month. Even with his patience, he was starting to get anxious. Things were going far beyond the expected timeline.
But he didn't dare be too forceful. Spiritual energy was a delicate thing, and Huo Yuhao's martial soul was an eye—one wrong move and the kid could end up blind.
Sigh… If only it were some other martial soul. The sect has tons of herbs to repair the body.Du Busi sighed internally, racking his brain for a better solution.
Yes, as time went on, Du Busi's confidence had been slowly eroding. But today, fate decided to give him a surprise.
Buzz!
Suddenly, Huo Yuhao's body trembled violently. A massive surge of white light burst out from him like a tidal wave. The spiritual power Du Busi had been suppressing and tormenting suddenly broke free like a dam bursting, overwhelming the spiritual pressure he had released in the blink of an eye.
Du Busi stood still, allowing the mental force to crash into him. With his level of cultivation, there was no way he'd get hurt.
Du Busi was fine. Others, not so much. Hiding behind the tree, Wang Qiu'er was suddenly overwhelmed by the tremendous psychic shockwave. Her head buzzed like a gong, and she stumbled, nearly falling on the spot. Luckily, she caught the tree trunk just in time—otherwise, she might've been discovered by the two.
Even Huang Yan looked shocked. The spiritual force had even affected him—an 89th-level Soul Douluo. The young master really isn't ordinary. No wonder the Sect Master chose him. Truly a discerning eye.
Unaware of Huang Yan's awe, Du Busi was thrilled by the sudden turn of events. After nearly two months of effort, he was finally not disappointed.
Thud!
A dull sound rang out—Huo Yuhao had collapsed, fainting on the spot.
Seeing this, Du Busi's heart skipped a beat. Afraid something had gone wrong, he hurried over to check.
"Whew… Just overdrawn spiritual power. Scared this old man to death." Finding no serious issues, Du Busi let out a sigh of relief and began inspecting Huo Yuhao's condition more thoroughly.
"Golden-level. It's actually golden-level! Hahahahaha! All my effort was worth it. Heaven blesses our sect! Heaven blesses us!" The high and mighty Sect Master, a 98th-level Super Douluo, was now laughing without a shred of decorum—like a lunatic. So much for dignity.
His laughter went on for a full thirty seconds before it stopped.
"Huang Yan, kid—carry Yuhao inside to rest."Du Busi sent a voice transmission to Huang Yan in the shadows before vanishing from the scene. With Huo Yuhao's martial soul awakening at the golden level, it was time to begin the next phase of his plan.
Receiving the order, Huang Yan no longer hid. He quickly walked over to Huo Yuhao, and as he passed Wang Qiu'er, he didn't so much as glance at her.
Sensing someone approaching from behind, Wang Qiu'er tensed up, fully prepared for a fight. But then she saw the man walk past her, pick up Huo Yuhao, and carry him into the villa.
Only then did it click—Oh, that's his bodyguard. It also dawned on her that all her secret stalking these past weeks had been under someone's watchful eye the entire time.
[Whether it's novels or anime, there are always regrets. I don't like regrets—so I'll change them myself. No objections to Wang Qiu'er being one of the heroines, right? And Xuedi, the Ice and Snow Elf—isn't she sweet too?]
