I took a deep breath, the weight of the moment settling heavily on my shoulders. After a long shower, I emerged from the bathroom, dressed. The air felt thick with unspoken words as I stepped into the living room. Yoongi leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his eyes stormy.
"Love, you aren't ready? Don't you need to go to the office today?" I tried to keep my tone light, but my voice trembled.
He looked me over, his expression unreadable. I noticed a flicker in his eyes—disappointment?—before he masked it. "Yeah, I have to go," he replied, his voice flat. "But I don't want to. I'd rather stay here, but…."
"But?" I prodded, my stomach tightening.
His eyes locked onto mine. "But you lied to me. And that's something I can't overlook."
The weight of his words hung heavy. I bit the inside of my cheek. "Yoongi, I—"
"Don't," he interrupted, his voice sharp but laced with pain. "You know why this matters. You put yourself in danger."
"I'm sorry," I whispered, my heart aching. "I never meant for it to get out of hand. I just wanted to have fun, to feel normal…"
He stepped closer. "Fun?" he repeated, disbelief in his tone. "You think lying to me is fun? Do you have any idea how that makes me feel?"
I swallowed hard. "I was scared, Yoongi. Scared of what you'd think. I thought… I thought I could handle it."
His expression softened slightly. "Handling it shouldn't mean putting yourself in situations where I can't protect you. I feel betrayed."
A chill ran through me. "You're going to punish me, aren't you?"
He nodded slowly. "You need to learn. I care about you too much."
My heart raced. "I didn't mean for it to be like this. Please… can't we just forget it for today?"
"Forget?" His voice held a steely edge. "I can't just forget. You need to face this."
Tears threatened to spill. "I don't want to feel this way. I hate that I hurt you."
"Then don't put me in this position again," he said softly. "I want to protect you, not punish you. But if you continue to test me, I won't have a choice."
I nodded. "I promise… I won't lie again."
His eyes searched mine. "I hope you mean that. Because next Sunday, I will make sure you remember this lesson."
The finality of his words echoed in the silence. As he turned to leave, I grabbed his arm gently. "Yoongi… please be careful today. I can't stand the thought of losing you."
He paused, glancing back, his expression softening slightly. "I'll always come back to you. Just don't make it harder than it has to be."
He stepped out, leaving me alone. What had I been thinking? My heart clenched as I remembered the stranger's hand gripping my arm, his dark gaze, the chill that crept over me as I realised how helpless I truly was. My breath hitched, and my mind replayed those terrifying moments in painful detail. I had brushed off Yoongi's rules, thinking he was overprotective, controlling even, never understanding the depth of his concern. He was right.
Tears blurred my vision. How could I have been so reckless? So naive?
Memories of Yoongi's care flooded my mind. He'd always been there. I remembered late nights he'd waited up for me. Gentle scolding…warm embrace… The countless times he'd walked me home. He'd put my safety first. And I threw it all back in his face.
A fresh wave of guilt washed over me. I'd shattered his trust. I could still see the hurt in his eyes. This wasn't just about sneaking out.
I stood and walked into my bedroom, my hand brushing over the things he'd given me. A soft scarf…a silver charm bracelet… I clutched the bracelet. "I'm so sorry, Yoongi," I whispered.
My apology fell into the emptiness. The fear…the anger… I'd never thought about the toll it took on him.
Anxiety crept in. "You need to face this," his words echoed. I didn't know what to expect.I deserved it.
A sob escaped my lips. "I'm so sorry," I whispered.
The words fell into the silence. I'd find a way to earn back his trust.Sunday's punishment… I knew one thing with certainty: I would never lie to him again.
