Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Just a Few Dogs

Beiming Xue was leading Wang Yan into the courtyard when suddenly they saw countless Tibetan mastiffs rushing towards them. She was immediately taken aback.

These Tibetan mastiffs were very familiar to Beiming Xue; they were the ones guarding their home. They were rarely let loose, only being freed at night.

A few years ago, several skilled assassins sneaked into the Beiming Family under the cover of night, intending to assassinate Elder Beiming. They managed to get past a few barriers before being surrounded by these dozen Tibetan mastiffs. Despite being armed with guns, the assassins were ultimately torn apart by the mastiffs.

During normal times when it's safe, these dozen Tibetan mastiffs are strictly controlled. Why were they suddenly released today?

Beiming Xue looked up and saw Xiahou Que and Lone Wolf looking at Wang Yan with schadenfreude. Beiming Xue, being sharp as a tack, immediately understood what was going on.

Right away, Beiming Xue shouted, "Xiahou Que, Lone Wolf, so it was your doing!?"

But just as Beiming Xue shouted this, the dozen Tibetan mastiffs had already reached Wang Yan.

Xiahou Que looked even more smug, unable to suppress a satisfied smile. He believed that Wang Yan would soon be torn to shreds by these mastiffs.

As far as dealing with the aftermath, given the Xiahou Family's status in Wanghai City, this wasn't something he had to worry about.

At this point, Beiming Xue was in a state of complete disarray. Although Wang Yan was great at fighting, how could he possibly take on a dozen Tibetan mastiffs?

If she had known better, she wouldn't have brought him home, as it was basically delivering Wang Yan to his death.

The more Beiming Xue thought about it, the more anxious and guilty she became. She spread her arms wide, blocking in front of Wang Yan with all her strength. Yet, there was no way she could entirely protect him. Beiming Xue was both angry and anxious, her eyes brimming with tears.

At this moment, she heard Wang Yan's calm voice behind her, "So it's just a few dogs, after all."

Beiming Xue shouted, "Not dogs, but Tibetan mastiffs, Wang Yan! Run, they'll tear you apart!"

However, Wang Yan didn't run; instead, he took a step forward, standing in front of Beiming Xue, and said calmly, "Even if they're Tibetan mastiffs, they're still just dogs."

Seeing Wang Yan not only refusing to run but also standing in front of Beiming Xue, Xiahou Que was taken aback at first, but then he sneered. Since Wang Yan was courting death, he didn't mind helping him along faster.

At that moment, the dozen giant Tibetan mastiffs reached Wang Yan.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, as soon as the mastiffs came within three steps of Wang Yan, they suddenly stopped, looking at him with a mix of confusion and fear, then all at once, without warning, turned around with their tails between their legs and ran.

In the blink of an eye, the mastiffs had fled far away to the back of the villa, vanishing from sight.

Watching this, Xiahou Que and Lone Wolf widened their eyes, disbelief written all over their faces.

"What... what the hell just happened?" Xiahou Que mumbled after a long pause.

Lone Wolf shook his head, saying, "I... I don't know, but there's something extraordinary about this guy."

At this point, Beiming Xue, seeing that Wang Yan had scared off the Tibetan mastiffs, jumped up excitedly: "Wang Yan brother, you're amazing, how did you do it?"

Wang Yan shrugged with a slight smile and didn't say anything.

The less Wang Yan explained, the more mysterious and unfathomable he seemed to everyone.

In fact, what they didn't know was that Wang Yan had grown up in the deep mountains, living alongside wild beasts for years. Even fierce animals like tigers and black bears would kneel before Wang Yan, let alone a few dogs.

Since the danger was averted, Beiming Xue hurriedly pulled Wang Yan's arm, running towards the villa. After all, Elder Beiming was most fond of Beiming Xue, and she was eager to see her grandfather.

Seeing Beiming Xue so affectionate towards Wang Yan, jealousy surged in Xiahou Que's heart. A wave of anger made him forget his own frail build; he couldn't even handle a mastiff, let alone a mutt.

As Beiming Xue and Wang Yan approached, Xiahou Que spread his arms, blocking their way, and said angrily, "Xue'er, you're my fiancée, how can you be fidgeting with another man?"

Hearing this, Beiming Xue's face turned red with anger, "Xiahou Que, I'll say it again: I have nothing to do with you. Move aside, I want to see my grandpa."

Xiahou Que shook his head, "No way. Unless you explain it clearly to me today, you'll never get through this door."

Beiming Xue snorted coldly, trying to pull Wang Yan past Xiahou Que.

However, no matter which direction Beiming Xue moved, Xiahou Que blocked her path, always standing right in front of them.

Beiming Xue, extremely frustrated, helplessly glanced at Wang Yan and said, "Brother Wang Yan, help me knock him aside."

Wang Yan turned to Beiming Xue with a smile, "No need to use force; this person should be quite obedient."

Seeing that Beiming Xue actually sought help from an "outsider," and Wang Yan completely ignored him, Xiahou Que was furious. Seizing the moment when Wang Yan turned his head to talk to Beiming Xue, he lunged forward, swinging his arm the thickness of a stick, aiming to hit Wang Yan's face.

Beiming Xue was taken aback and urgently warned, "Brother Wang Yan, be careful."

Yet, Wang Yan continued to slowly finish his conversation with Beiming Xue before turning back around.

As he turned back, he saw Xiahou Que's fist already close to his face.

Wang Yan didn't even dodge; he simply narrowed his eyes, his gaze emitting a sharp light, then he shouted, "Scram!"

Although it was just one word, with it, a sudden surge of murderous aura emanated from Wang Yan.

This aura felt tangible, like a shock wave radiating from Wang Yan, causing the surrounding environment to drop instantly to freezing point.

Feeling this killing intent, Xiahou Que felt as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over him, chilling him from head to toe in an instant.

Xiahou Que involuntarily shivered, his fist unable to swing, stopping in mid-air. His legs went weak, and he staggered back seven or eight steps before falling to the ground.

Sitting on the ground, Xiahou Que stared blankly at Wang Yan, his eyes filled with panic, fear, and disbelief.

In contrast, Wang Yan seemed unbothered, turning back to Beiming Xue with a smile, saying, "See, I told you he's obedient, right?"

The tone as if he was talking about a small cat or dog.

Beiming Xue was overjoyed, having always disliked Xiahou Que. Finally, she witnessed Xiahou Que's humiliation, while Wang Yan's status in her heart rose immeasurably.

Immediately, Beiming Xue clung to Wang Yan's arm, pressing closely against him, saying, "Brother Wang Yan, quickly check on how grandpa is."

With that, the two walked intimately into the villa.

Watching their figures enter the villa, Xiahou Que suddenly realized that he had truly embarrassed himself. Throughout the courtyard, besides Lone Wolf, countless bodyguards were looking at him with astonished eyes.

Xiahou Que's face flushed red as he got up from the ground and approached Lone Wolf, saying, "You promised to help me; why did you just watch me suffer?"

At this moment, Lone Wolf, with a solemn face, shook his head and said, "The killing intent from this man is not fake; he is definitely not an ordinary person."

Being the chief bodyguard of the Beiming Family, Lone Wolf was highly skilled and mysterious. The dozens of retired special forces soldiers he led were all obedient to him, which showed his capabilities.

Seeing Lone Wolf so wary of Wang Yan, Xiahou Que was taken aback and asked in surprise, "You... you mean... he's killed people?"

Lone Wolf said, "I don't know if he's killed anyone, but I know if Mr. Xiahou had taken another step forward, you would have certainly died at his hands."

Hearing Lone Wolf's words, Xiahou Que was startled but then shouted, "I'm the young master of the Xiahou Family, one of Wanghai City's Four Great Clans. Who would dare to kill me?"

Lone Wolf smiled wryly, thinking how Xiahou Que always relied on his family background when in trouble, truly a characteristic of a spoiled scion.

Lone Wolf then advised, "Mr. Xiahou, let it go. The Elder is seriously ill; it's better to avoid unnecessary troubles."

Xiahou Que exhaled deeply, his eyes flashing with a sinister light, thinking to himself: Just wait, kid. After today, I'll make you kneel before me.

At this moment, Wang Yan and Beiming Xue had already entered the villa.

When Beiming Bufan saw Beiming Xue return, he was initially pleased but then noticed her clinging to Wang Yan, his face immediately darkened, and he said, "At a time like this, you still have the mood for this?"

Upon her father's reprimand, Beiming Xue immediately realized that being so openly attached to Wang Yan was inappropriate, blushing, she quietly withdrew her hand from Wang Yan's arm.

Just then, Dr. Smith approached Beiming Bufan.

By this time, Xiahou Que and Lone Wolf had also entered the room, and everyone gathered around, anxiously looking at Dr. Smith.

Dr. Smith then said, "Elder Beiming's condition is caused by obstructive syncope due to phlegm, requiring surgery to open the trachea and suction the phlegm. I'll prepare the surgical tools immediately, and the surgery will start in an hour."

Upon hearing this, everyone was extremely tense, nodding repeatedly.

At this point, Wang Yan stared at the elder lying on the bed and said, "I'm afraid the Elder can't hold on for another five minutes."

Hearing this, everyone's expressions changed drastically. Xiahou Que finally seized the opportunity for revenge and said, "Kid, how dare you curse Elder Beiming to die within five minutes?"

Wang Yan calmly replied, "That's the fact. Waiting an hour means he won't survive. I have a way to save him within five minutes."
