c47: The Assumption of Cultivating with Four Witches Technique
Whoosh...
Piccolo's breathing grew ragged, his chest heaving, while Son Goku stood as if nothing had happened his breath calm and controlled. The gap in stamina between the two was becoming obvious.
"Your strength is far beyond what I expected. You've improved a lot," Son Goku said, clearly impressed. In their last encounter at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, Piccolo's power level was around 260. But now, after training intensely, he had soared to 18,000.
"Damn it, I won't lose to you," Piccolo growled, unwilling to admit defeat. Deep down, he had already realized that Goku wasn't using his full strength yet.
With a heavy stomp, Piccolo lunged at Son Goku with explosive speed.
But just as he was about to strike, Son Goku's figure vanished.
"Piccolo, I've already figured out your power. You're not my match," Goku's voice suddenly echoed beside Piccolo's ear. He turned sharply, stunned he hadn't sensed Goku's movement at all.
Piccolo placed his right index and middle fingers to his forehead, his ki flaring wildly. Son Goku stood back, arms crossed, intrigued by what Piccolo would attempt next. He was always eager to test himself against a stronger opponent.
"Makankōsappō!" (Special Beam Cannon!)
Piccolo roared as the piercing spiral beam shot from his fingers, glowing with deadly energy.
Son Goku narrowed his eyes and tilted his body slightly, narrowly dodging the beam.
"It's powerful," Goku noted calmly, "but it's useless if you can't land a hit." He had instantly recognized the technique's flaw: massive charge time and limited tracking.
"Shut up!" Piccolo barked. He knew the move's limitations but had no better option against Goku's speed and unpredictability.
Boom!
Piccolo lunged at Goku again but the moment he got close, his movement froze. Goku's elbow had driven deep into his gut. Piccolo's body doubled over, a spurt of saliva and bile forced from his mouth.
"He's too strong... Piccolo doesn't even have room to counterattack," Krillin muttered in awe. The level of domination Goku displayed was far beyond what anyone in the audience had anticipated.
"Fifty thousand combat power... that's far beyond expectations," Li Xu thought, frowning slightly. His presence had clearly pushed Goku to grow even faster and stronger than he had in the original timeline.
"Piccolo, I hope next time we can have a real fight," Son Goku said with a nod before flicking his arm. Piccolo's body flew through the air and landed outside the ring.
"Son Goku wins!" the announcer cried out with overwhelming excitement. The battle had been so explosive that he momentarily struggled to keep up with the commentary.
"Woo-hoo!" The crowd exploded with cheers.
"Brother Tien, do your best!" Chiaotzu shouted from the stands. Tien Shinhan was up next.
"I'll give it everything I have," Tien Shinhan nodded firmly. Although he knew he wasn't Li Xu's equal, he still held onto the resolve to fight with honor.
"We now invite contestants Tien Shinhan and Li Xu to the ring!" the host shouted with enthusiasm.
"Go get him, Li Xu!" Bulma called out cheerfully.
"If there's a prize, I'll go all out," Li Xu smirked.
"Shameless!" Bulma huffed, rolling her eyes, cheeks flushing pink.
"Haha!" Li Xu chuckled and strolled toward the ring with confidence.
Tien Shinhan watched him carefully, expression serious and focused.
"Come at me with everything you've got," Li Xu said, uninterested in dragging the fight out like Goku often did. He preferred to let his opponent unleash their full strength before ending it decisively.
"Watch out!" Tien Shinhan warned.
"Solar Flare!"
Placing his hands beside his face, Tien suddenly emitted a blinding flash of light an old technique from his Crane School days, intended to blind and disorient the opponent like the glare of the sun.
After unleashing the Solar Flare (Taiyōken), Tien Shinhan immediately launched a fierce assault on Li Xu. He knew the blinding light would only buy him a moment of opportunity if he missed that instant, it would vanish.
"Got him!"
As his fist connected with Li Xu's chest, Tien felt a fleeting thrill of victory—but it vanished in the next heartbeat. His face twisted in confusion and alarm as his punch passed straight through.
An afterimage.
"Where is he?" Tien Shinhan spun around, his third eye on his forehead darting in every direction, scanning for ki and movement.
"It's not so easy to disappear from my eyes," came a calm voice right behind his ear. Tien's heart skipped a beat as he turned his head Li Xu had somehow appeared behind him, untouched and composed.
"I'll give you one more chance," Li Xu said softly. "Don't waste it."
"Unbelievable… he's so strong!" Tien's body tensed, sweat beading on his forehead. Even though Li Xu hadn't made a single attack yet, his presence alone created overwhelming pressure. The gulf in their power levels was staggering.
"Do your best, Brother Tien!" Chiaotzu shouted from the sidelines, his voice full of support.
The words helped Tien Shinhan refocus. Taking a deep breath, he gathered his ki and performed a rapid technique.
One figure split into two. Then four.
"W-what?! There are four Tien Shinhans on the stage! Are we seeing quadruplets?" the announcer exclaimed, nearly dropping his mic.
"That's the Shishin no Ken the Four Witches Technique," Krillin muttered. "A powerful move… though it splits your strength."
Li Xu smirked at the familiar tactic.
"Not bad, Tien. That move has potential."
Then, in a blur, Li Xu performed the exact same technique.
Four Li Xus now stood across from the four Tien Shinhans.
"H-how?! There are four Li Xus now?!" the announcer shouted again, even more baffled. "Did he copy Tien Shinhan's technique?!"
"This can't be real…" Tien Shinhan's eyes widened. The Four Witches Technique was something he had only recently perfected through intense solo training—it wasn't part of standard Crane School techniques. How did Li Xu mimic it so effortlessly?
"Incredible…" Son Goku's eyes gleamed, not with fear but admiration. He wasn't surprised by the power of the move, but by Li Xu's ability to learn and replicate it instantly.
"I didn't even know Tien was working on that," Krillin said with a bit of surprise. "He kept it hidden during our training sessions."
Li Xu's edge came from more than just power. With his intermediate-level comprehension plug-in and a nuclear-regeneration body, understanding the Four Witches Technique at a glance was child's play. His cells adapted and memorized techniques as quickly as he witnessed them.
Still, Li Xu frowned slightly.
"Dividing my power into four… it's not efficient in real combat."
Each of the four Li Xus now held only 1.5 million in combat power. A single Li Xu at 6 million would easily defeat any one of the clones. In the Dragon Ball universe, numerical multiplication meant little when combat power was so unbalanced.
"However…" Li Xu mused inwardly, "this might be useful for training. If I spar against multiple versions of myself, I can push past my limits faster."
But now wasn't the time for theory or experimentation.
"Alright, this match ends now."
With those words, the four Li Xus vanished from their spots, blitzing the four Tien Shinhans in an instant.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sounds of impact echoed as each Tien Shinhan was knocked flying in perfect synchronization. Their bodies landed together outside the ring and merged back into one.
At the same moment, three of the Li Xus faded into shimmering energy—only the original remained standing calmly in the ring.
"Out of bounds! Li Xu is the winner!" the announcer declared, voice booming over the cheering crowd.
"Brother Tien!" Chiaotzu flew to his side and helped him up with care.
"I'm okay," Tien Shinhan said, shaking his head. He wasn't physically hurt—but emotionally, he was discouraged. After all his hard training, he still couldn't hold a candle to Li Xu.
