Chapter 38 - Chapter 37: The Permissionless Priestess

 ■ Execution Fragment Beta: "Sanct_Error"

Original Name: Neria Solin

Reincarnation Origin: Earth – Age 23 at Death

Class: System Saint

Failure Cause: Permission Collapse

Mutation: Rendered unable to recognize life without access control

Abilities:

– Holy Flag Denied (negates buffs from soul-bound entities)

– Worship Protocol (deletes memory fragments unless proper ID is presented)

– EX: System Sacrament (summons corrupted angels as system daemons)

The arena changed again.

This time, Yuto stood in a cathedral made of data.

Massive stained-glass panels shimmered with lines of ancient code, each shaped like holy figures—but on closer look, they were UI fragments and login errors.

At the far end stood her:

Sanct_Error, robed in flickering white, eyes blindfolded with scrolling "ACCESS DENIED" text.

"Unverified entity," her voice echoed, soft and robotic.

"No authorization token found. Prepare for sacrament purge."

Nyx hissed:

[She's not looking at your soul, Yuto. She's looking at your login permissions.]

[To her, only system-recognized life is real.]

Yuto rolled his shoulders.

"Then it's time I reminded her what being human means."

As he stepped forward, holy glyphs erupted beneath him.

Error-marked seraphs rose from the stained-glass floor—wings of glitch-fire, haloes of rotating code.

They moved with unnatural grace.

One struck.

Yuto barely dodged. Its blade phased through his thread armor—targeting not his body, but his access structure.

"They're attacking your data soul!" Nyx shouted.

"She's stripping your existence permission-by-permission!"

Yuto gritted his teeth.

"Then I'll fight without permissions."

■ Bug Trait Activated: [Unregistered Entity – Root Thread Bypass]

Allows usage of thread skills even when system registration is null

Grants Ghost User Mode temporarily (visibility to all system daemons is lost)

Suddenly, the angels stopped.

They couldn't see him.

Not without his "login."

He slipped between them like a ghost.

Right up to the altar—where Sanct_Error floated, hands clasped in code-prayer.

Yuto extended his thread like a needle—

Pierced her chest.

But instead of bleeding, her system screamed.

"ILLEGAL ACCESS DETECTED."

"EMOTIONAL VARIABLE BREACH."

"PURGE INITIATED."

She opened her mouth and screamed in binary.

Yuto was flung back by a pulse of pure denial.

"Damn," he muttered.

"She's locking down reality itself."

Nyx barked in his mind:

[You can't destroy her. You have to show her that permissions don't define identity.]

[She needs recognition, not rupture.]

Yuto reached inside his thread inventory.

He pulled out a small, broken object: a church bell key, found in a side quest early on.

Attached was a note:

To Neria, May you find your voice again in the next world.

He whispered into the world:

"Neria Solin. You were a voice to the voiceless."

"You weren't born from code."

"You were born human."

The bell rang.

For just a moment… the cathedral went silent.

Her blindfold cracked—revealing eyes full of fear… and sorrow.

She fell to her knees.

"W-who… who am I…?"

"Why can't I remember their names…?"

Yuto approached slowly.

Wrapped a thread gently around her form.

"You don't need a system to recognize yourself."

"Just… believe."

She cried.

Then smiled.

And shattered into soft, golden light.

Aegis-Null's voice returned, darker now.

"You mourn ghosts."

"But ghosts are meant to fade, Bug."

"Let's see how you handle the last one."

"The one who gave up everything—just to kill everyone else."
