It had been five hours of students sitting their asses in their classes, listening nonstop to the subject teachers. The bell had already rung for the break period when students left their classes and headed to the cafeteria.
Moving in peers and gangs, Ma Feng could be seen walking side by side with Romeo, who seemed to be the fun type. Romeo had lots of friends in the departments except the Crescent Department, since they found him infuriating.
"Ma Feng... today was quite boring, isn't that right?" Romeo said.
"I wouldn't say it's boring since I learned some things from the teachers today. But teaching only the basic aspects of magical control isn't going to lead us anywhere. We need to understand what our powers really are," Ma Feng said.
"Yeah, I guess so. But Ma Feng, I was wondering... I'm gifted with flower magics. What about you? I never asked what your magic is exactly about. What kind of magic do you have?" Romeo asked.
"Dragon magics," Ma Feng answered.
Romeo laughed out loud. Ma Feng was quite surprised to see Romeo laughing so insanely, which drew some people's attention as they entered the cafeteria.
"What's so funny, Romeo?" Ma Feng asked.
"You're such a joker, aren't you? Ma Feng... it's highly impossible for you to have dragon magics when you aren't a dragon. In the history of mankind, no human has ever possessed dragon magics."
"Those reality-manipulating magics are what make the dragons special. Unlike the vampire race and the wolves, the dragons possess one of the most resilient magics in history, so don't joke around."
"There's no way someone like you would possess such powerful magic," Romeo said.
"Reality-manipulating magics? So I've figured out this really is a world of fantasy. So vampires and werewolves do exist in this world? This is amazing," Ma Feng said to himself as they went to the chefs.
"Hmph... well, I guess so. But I'd love to ask you a question, Romeo. You mentioned vampires and wolves—do they really exist?" Ma Feng asked as Romeo turned to face him with a smile.
"You're such a newbie, aren't you, Ma Feng? Of course they exist. They're one of the few kingdoms that aren't human. The Thirty-Six Nations are filled with mysteries, and the Vampire Kingdom is located up north."
"Just a few students belonging to those kingdoms are present in the Scarlet Academy. Vampires are said to be imbued with mysterious magics, while wolves are imbued with strength and power."
"So wolves are better off in the Military Department," Romeo said.
After being served their delicious delicacies on the plates they carried, they walked to an empty seat where they sat down to enjoy their meals. They were eating and discussing when suddenly eyes were on them.
"Ma Feng... I feel that something weird is about to happen here..." Romeo couldn't complete his sentence when they were suddenly covered by shadows. They tilted their gazes to see some seniors standing before them.
"Hey, boys!" the leader of the gang called out.
"Yes, what do you need from us?" Ma Feng answered without showing any emotion on his face. He continued staring at the chubby figure standing before them with fierce-looking boys behind him.
"Huh? It seems like you're the new student I've heard about. The name is Wa Yeng, right?" the boy said as everyone laughed out loud. Ma Feng smiled calmly while remaining seated.
"It's Ma Feng, and you haven't answered my question. What do you need from us?" Ma Feng asked, about to eat his porridge rice when the gang leader grabbed Ma Feng by the shirt and lifted him up.
"Who do you think you are, boy? Seems like you haven't been informed of what we are. I am Alkair the Bulldozer. You have no idea what..." the gang leader, Alkair, gasped.
Ma Feng grabbed Alkair's hand when his feet landed on the ground. The gang was stunned to see Ma Feng take control within seconds. Ma Feng raised his head to stare at Alkair.
"It's best not to rip my shirt apart, bro. It's still new," Ma Feng said.
This drew the attention of all the students in the cafeteria. Alkair snapped his fingers, and all his gang surrounded Ma Feng while he remained calm, hands in his pockets, watching them close in.
"Looks like you don't fear us, huh? I, the Bulldozer, will crush you today and teach you what fear means," Alkair said while cracking his bones fiercely. Ma Feng sighed calmly.
"Whatever... show me your strength," Ma Feng said.
VIOLET: BATTLE MODE ACTIVATED!!
After Violet announced the activation of battle mode, three boys charged against Ma Feng with immense brute force. Ma Feng blocked all three attacks at once, smirking evilly as he grabbed one by the leg, sending him crashing to the ground while the other two were punched heavily. Romeo watched from the sides, amazed. Ma Feng smiled as he countered another attack without hesitation.
A brute kick sent the boy crashing to the ground with blood gushing from his nose. Ma Feng evaded a club attack. One of the gang swung the club at Ma Feng, but Ma Feng dodged the attack.
He caught the club with his hand, and his fingers broke the iron club. The gang gasped in shock when Ma Feng landed a decisive punch that sent him flying to the ground. He then threw the club away.
Ma Feng approached Alkair with dark smiles plastered on his face.
Alkair charged at Ma Feng, but he evaded the bone-breaking punch aimed at his jaw. Ma Feng blocked the second attack with his arm, grabbed Alkair's hand, and threw him into the wall.
Alkair crashed against the wall. When he opened his eyes, he widened his gaze in shock as he rolled away. Ma Feng's leg created a heavy crack on the ground as he was about to crush Alkair on the ground.
Ma Feng turned to see Alkair standing up before him.
Alkair charged at Ma Feng with full force, but Ma Feng turned to see Crystal staring at him from the crowd. Many people were watching the fight when Alkair quickly grabbed Ma Feng by the face and smashed him to the ground.
Ma Feng groaned as Alkair grabbed his leg and threw him to the ground. Ma Feng crashed onto a table and secretly stole the burgers on it while still being smashed by Alkair—and he ate the burger.
Alkair didn't hesitate to stomp Ma Feng in the stomach. Ma Feng coughed up blood from his mouth and screamed out. Alkair smirked evilly as he grabbed Ma Feng by the hair, and Ma Feng let out a slight chuckle.
VIOLET: SYSTEM BATTLE MODE HAS BEEN DEACTIVATED. SHALL I REACTIVATE IT?
"Nope, not a chance, Violet... I got carried away and realized I'm selling myself out by showing my strength. Let him have all the glory for now... heh heh heh," Ma Feng said to himself with an evil grin.
Alkair landed a drastic punch that sent Ma Feng crashing to the ground, blood gushing from his nose. Alkair clenched his fist tightly as his men begged him to stop, and Ma Feng lay helpless on the ground.
"So, how was my acting? Was it good?" Ma Feng asked himself.
Alkair and his gang were about to leave when Ma Feng suddenly kicked up and landed on his feet. He brought out the delicious snacks he had stolen from everyone present in the cafeteria, surprising them all.
Ma Feng grabbed a chair, sat down, and placed all the snacks on the table before him. He started eating like nothing had happened, while Alkair gnawed his teeth furiously.
Alkair charged at Ma Feng, reaching to land a severe punch, but his fist stopped mid-air while Ma Feng continued eating. Alkair frowned as he felt a mysterious wall blocking his fist from reaching Ma Feng.
"I chose to get beaten by you to steal their snacks... don't embarrass yourself," Ma Feng said as he continued eating. Alkair roared and smashed the table with his leg while Ma Feng smiled.
Before Alkair could launch another attack, Xi Jing stopped him from behind with a single strike to the neck. Alkair fell unconscious while Ma Feng continued eating the burger in his hand.
"You little thief... suffering defeat to steal some snacks, huh?" Rose said as she stared at Ma Feng, who remained unfazed. Crystal sighed and smiled at Ma Feng, still eating all this while.
"What an actor you are, Ma Feng," Crystal said before walking away.
Ma Feng stood up from the chair, dusted his shirt, and walked out of the scene. Limiting his strength and hiding his power was one reason he became the adopted son of King Ezerel.
He wanted everyone to see that he was partially strong and weak.
Ma Feng was about to leave completely when he gasped. His eyes turned completely black as he opened them. Ma Feng could feel powerful auras unleashed throughout Scarlet Academy, and he gasped again.
He closed his eyes and appeared in a mysterious world once more. Ma Feng opened his eyes to see the mighty black dragon still chained to the wall. He looked up to see the dragon's red eyes staring directly into his.
"COME!!!"
The voice of the mighty black dragon woke Ma Feng to reality. He immediately stood up from his knees and walked away from the cafeteria. Everyone was shocked and confused.
No one knew what had just happened.
