As the sound of the bell echoed inside the huge mansion, a black-haired girl who was sprawled on a sofa with a book in her hands in the main hall shook vigorously at the unexpected disturbance.
Hermione Granger got up suddenly with a deep frown on her face.
Her parents had just left for work, and now she had to spend the day alone.
The book in her hands remained unturned, a rare phenomenon, as some other matter was drawing Hermione's focus constantly away from its pages.
The 'other matter' occupying her mind was none other than Harry Potter, specifically what had happened between them on the Hogwarts Express.
Every time she thought of those moments, a deep reddening blush would creep onto her face, and her lips would automatically widen in a deep smile. As she recalled those memories, a strange sensation would pass through her body, and she could not help but crave more. She was missing the warmth, those moments of carnal desires, the love she had shared with Harry.
The sound of the doorbell jolted her out of her reverie, and she wondered if her parents had forgotten something. Absentmindedly, she reached the gate and unbolted the lock.
As the gate was slightly flung open, her eyes widened in shock at the face greeting her across the half-chained barrier.
Harry, with his bright emerald eyes, was standing with a smile on his face.
"Hello, Miss Granger," Harry grinned even wider.
"Harry…" was all Hermione could stammer after moments of shock.
"How?" she questioned with disbelief, her facial expression one of pure shock.
"Are you going to keep me standing here, Hermione?" Harry chuckled. "Let me in first. Then you can carry out your interrogation."
Hermione's face turned red with embarrassment at Harry's words. She quickly unhooked the chain, and Harry stepped inside the hall.
He took a step forward and pushed the gate closed with his right hand without turning back, while his left hand reached for Hermione's waist.
Before Hermione could react, she felt a force pulling her, and the next moment, she was face-to-face with Harry, their lips merely centimetres apart. They could feel the warm breaths of each other as Hermione's body shivered.
Hermione flushed, but even so, she did not control her instinct as she leaned forward, and her lips met Harry's. Harry acted aggressively, sucking hard on her lips with his tongue prying inside her mouth. His right hand moved forward and cupped one of her breasts over her clothes, while his left hand pulled Hermione as close as he could towards himself.
The duo separated only after they were out of breath and gasping for air.
"Harry," said Hermione between deep breaths. "I… love you."
"I love you too, Hermione," said Harry as his hands continued to roam over her body.
Hermione pulled away with a pout, and Harry chuckled at her reaction.
"You are avoiding my questions, Harry," she pouted.
Harry chuckled, and this aggravated Hermione further. He raised his hands in mock surrender.
"Okay… ask… I will tell you everything," he said.
Hermione's pout faded as she smiled brightly.
"How were you able to come here? I don't think I ever told any of you my address," she said. "Even if you knew, how come your uncle allowed it?"
Harry's face stiffened, as he had not prepared himself for the first part of the question. In his excitement, he had forgotten that Hermione was a girl who actually used common sense.
"Well… I won't be living with my uncle anymore," replied Harry.
Hermione's eyes widened at this.
"And I have not run away from their house," said Harry, as if understanding her train of thought. "I have shifted to my parents' house. It was part of an inheritance they had left for me."
He did not specify his family legacy or his status. He did not want people to find out that he was aware of everything before he gained the Lordship of his house.
Hermione's face eased at this, but confusion was still present on her face.
"Does Dumbledore agree with your decision?" She questioned.
The question struck a nerve with Harry.
"Dumbledore does not get to decide where I live or what I do with my life. He has no more role to play in the choices I make in my life," he almost shouted. "He has already made more than enough decisions for me."
Instantly realising his over-exaggerated reaction, he calmed himself down.
"I will inform him at the appropriate time," said Harry further. "Until then, keep this a secret."
Hermione understood that talking about this topic would do no good, and she nodded in agreement, "Okay."
She decided that she would talk with Harry about it later. For now, she could only keep her promise and keep this a secret.
"Even so," she continued after a moment of silence. "How did you know my address?"
"Well…" he said. "I was discussing the Muggle world with Professor McGonagall one time. During that conversation, she mentioned your address."
Though sceptical of the answer, Hermione nodded.
"Come," she said. "Let us go to my room."
"Your questions are over?" Harry said with a surprised face, and then he leaned forward. "Or are you too eager to do it?" he whispered with a teasing smile on his face.
"Harry!" shouted Hermione as she punched Harry's arm. Harry chuckled and followed behind Hermione towards her room.
"Where did you learn wandless magic?" Hermione asked on the way. "You also performed advanced transfiguration on the Hogwarts Express," she added.
Harry was prepared for the question.
"I have recently found few of my parents' things. You know old notebooks, diaries and some other stuff," he replied. "It was from there that I learned these tricks and also about the house they have left for me."
"I see," muttered Hermione as she walked ahead.
Harry, since, could not see her face and therefore could not tell if she had been convinced by the answer or not.
Well, it did not really matter. This was only answer he was going to give every other person if they questioned the sudden changes in him.
