Chapter 29 - Epilogue

"I know what I saw." Ryan teased.

"Did not!" Betty scoffed.

"Did too! You all were sucking face." Ryan mocked.

"It was just a peck." Betty giggled. She was blushing.

"Yeah, with tongue and all." Ryan made slurping noises.

Betty stood up to smack him but he jumped back.

"Okay bitch, let's go!" He declared.

I don't know what they were doing, but it was physical humor to the core. One of his hands was completely plastered onto his face and his arm stretched across flailing around like an elephant trunk. Betty copied that same technique.

I could not describe the ridiculousness that was unfolding before me.

After their little spat, Betty walked away.

*Snap*

"Ah. Fucker." Betty cried.

Ryan had quickly tugged her bra strap and letting it swing into her back like a slingshot.

These 2 really did have this sitcom style friendship. I couldn't stop laughing.

It was my first time actually hanging out with Ryan and he had all kinds of dirty jokes and stories. Not only did he tell them, he acted parts of it out like a true stand up comedian.

"CC told me you were a riot." I said laughing. "She wasn't lying."

"Yeah. Where the hell was CC anyway?" Ryan questioned.

Betty shrugged and sat back down next to me. "She said she was going to be here."

"Yeah. This whole dance was all her idea." Ryan sat down. "Oh well. She didn't miss much."

I think she missed more than he knew.

Ryan just sat there looking at us with such judgement.

"So...what are you doing this weekend?" Ryan asked me.

He caught me by surprise. "Erm...uh... I'm... probably going to be at my grandparents house bored out of mind."

"Change that! I think you should go with us tomorrow." Ryan's lip shifted to the side.

"Yeah." Betty perked up.

"What's going on tomorrow?" I asked. Ryan had struck my curiosity.

"COSMO BOWL!" Ryan hyped.

"What?" I asked confused.

"It's black light bowling with music and disco lights." Betty added. "It's really cool. A lot of the kids on base go."

"That...actually sounds like a lot of fun." I nodded.

"I'll have to ask to see if I can go."

"Okay. And you can give me a call when you find out?" Betty smiled.

"I don't have your number."

"IT'S 555—" Ryan started shouting.

"Shhh." Betty hushed. "Here." Betty grabbed a gel pen from her purse and started to write it down on the back of my hand. She added a little heart to it.

"Whoa. That's funny. My number is literally yours in reverse." I said in surprise.

"Really?!" Betty exclaimed.

-HONK-

A 1988 blue Dodge Shadow honked loudly.

"That's my dad. Call me okay." Betty stood up and headed towards it. Ryan followed behind to go with them.

I gave them a wave as that old car drove by.

Did Ryan just become my wingman or was he being Betty's wingman?

What just happened tonight? I was confused.

One thing was for certain, my feelings for Betty were very strong and sudden. This wasn't a simple crush.

That song, dance and kiss kept replaying in my head on my walk back home.

Was I falling for Betty?

She's all I could think about that night.
