Ruyi, watching quietly, was surprised—her boys had surpassed even her hacking skills. Be it racing or hacking, they were already surpassing her, and it was normal with how intelligent the kids were.
"Route 18 West feed is corrupted—looped. They knew what they were doing," Ting Cheng muttered.
"Check the toll gate auxiliaries. Their systems are isolated," Zi Zhen added. Moments later, a grainy feed loaded, revealing a matte black van without plates.
"That's them."
"Timestamp: 2:05. We were still shopping at Pricy," Ting Cheng said, tone grim.
Zooming in, they caught a glint—someone wearing a tactical earpiece, partially reflected in a side mirror.
"Ghost trails," Zi Zhen muttered. "And no license traces. They are all registered under deceased aliases."
Ruyi's eyes narrowed. "Zi Zhen, did you stop that experiment I told you to?"
His shoulders tensed. "What are you talking about, Momma?"
"What are you talking about?" Mo Zhiqian entered, overhearing part of the conversation.
"We're talking about the company. Where's my brother?" Ting Cheng inquired, shifting attention.
"Still upstairs. I will check up on him."
After she left, Zi Zhen whispered, "I did create the prototype... but how did they know about it? Who leaked it?"
"You never listen!" Ruyi snapped, her tone sharp.
"I've secured the formulas. Only one-fourth is functional. Ting Cheng holds the rest. I trust him."
"You can trust me," Ting Cheng said. "But we need to act. Lie low. Find out who the traitors are."
"I will close the lab. Move it." Zi Zhen nodded, face pale.
"How do you know they would be loyal, or have they been loyal this entire time? Shut it down. Move everything back home," Ruyi ordered.
He obeyed instantly, giving direct commands to his men to dismantle the lab and reassign everyone to normal hospital facilities.
Elsewhere, Zhi Hao stood with his head of security.
"Call the guards. Full standby. Wipe today's CCTV records."
"Yes, sir. But Master... Lu Zi Zhen is suspicious. Too mysterious."
"I know," Zhi Hao said, voice low. "This time, the ambush might have been because of him. But don't tell my wife. Let her rest."
He turned and walked back into the mansion, ready for the storm that was coming.
In the mansion, Lu Wan Ruyi and the kids were quite eating while their minds seemed to be occupied.
Lu Wan Ruyi was worried that Lu Zi Zhen's obsession would drag the entire family into trouble. If it weren't for her insisting on him studying science, he probably couldn't have gotten lost in it. Could he blame anyone? No! She brought this upon herself.
The Lu family was innocent. How was she going to handle this situation? Even though she had turned a blind on whatever he did secretly, now, they would all come to the open. What would her husband think of her for all this?
"Why do you seem to be occupied?" He settled down beside her as he placed his hand on her thighs, kneading them intimately. The atmosphere around them was eerily quiet.
"Aaawh! Nothing, I'm not in the mood to go anywhere, can I stay at home?" She wanted to think of ways and means to clean up this entire mess.
"You shouldn't get yourself worked up! He started it, and he knows how to handle the situation. We will add more guards around us until we are back home. I think we would have to go back tomorrow soon." They couldn't stay in the country anymore. Too many dangers lurked all over the place, back at home, they knew how to handle their situation better.
"Aaaahh?" Lu Wan Ruyi didn't understand him; what was he insinuating?
"I will take responsibility for my mess, Mama, you don't have to worry." He had already come up with a way to handle the situation. He would create a fake formula and leak it out while knowing he had destroyed the most important prototype for the experiments to be successful.
