After the battle in Lunavere Town, the group resumed their journey to the capital. On the way, they decided to stop at a small village called Lanton.
There, Ren was practicing with his new weapon—Atomic Reaper. He swung it in the open ground, working on its movements. He tried various techniques, spinning fluently using his legs. But when he attempted to move while spinning, he lost control.
"Man, this is seriously tough," Ren muttered. "Creating this cool weapon might've been a mistake."
Renji appeared nearby. "Still messing around with that stupid weapon? You should just change it—it looks kinda lame on you."
Ren glared at him. "What the hell? This is a very cool weapon!"
"If you're going to use it," Renji replied coldly, "then don't lose hope. Practice makes people strong... though I'm not sure if that applies to you."
"What's your problem?! What did I even do to get treated like this?" Ren snapped.
Akari stepped in. "Don't mind him, Ren. He's just like that, but he actually cares about others."
Renji stayed silent, face expressionless.
Ryota walked over, holding his Plasma Fang. "Why don't you talk about your powers, Renji? You've seen all of ours—it's only fair we know yours too."
Renji replied, "Since when did that become necessary? I never asked to see your powers."
Ryota scowled. "It is necessary. Knowing each other's strengths helps with coordination during battle."
"I don't need coordination," Renji said sharply. "I'll fight alone. You're just a bunch of insects who asked me to join for protection."
Ryota and Ren looked furious. Akari covered her face in disappointment. "Ugh... what am I supposed to do with him?" Then she yelled, "Don't worry, Ryota! I'll explain his power. I've done some research."
Renji gave a blank look. "Do whatever you want."
He took a few steps forward, then paused. "Hey, Ren. If you want to get stronger, I'll train you. That way, we have a better chance of winning."
Akari smiled. "Told you—he's nice deep down."
Renji walked off without another word. Ren watched him leave and thought, I've seen his strength before. Training with him might help me master my magic.
Just then, Hayato arrived with Morvon. "What's going on here? You guys talking about something important?"
"Perfect timing, Hayato," Akari said. "We were just about to talk about Renji's powers."
Everyone leaned in with interest.
Akari began, "Renji's magic is Celestial—very rare and powerful. His magic is called Televore. It combines Magic Absorption and Telekinesis. First, he can absorb attacks or anything formed using basic or advanced elements. Against those types, he's basically overpowered. However, he can absorb only a limited amount of magic, also he can't absorb semi-celestial or celestial types—those are impossible for him to absorb.
"But once he absorbs magic, he can store it like an inventory and use it however he wants. After using it, he can absorb more again.
"Then there's his Telekinesis. He can control magic without touching it—but again, there's a limit to how much he can control."
Hayato asked, "So... are these two separate abilities?"
"No, I believe it's the same magic with different aspects," Akari explained. "But here's the strange part: this magic can be transferred from one person to another. The Kagami Clan, Renji's origin, used this to pass their powers down through generations. I've never heard of a magic that can be inherited like this."
Ren, shocked, thought, Transferred magic... Misaki mentioned something about that. She said these are the most powerful types—five reality-bending powers gifted by Celestial beings. I read about them in a library book.
Hayato asked, "What do you know about the Kagami Clan?"
"Not much," Akari admitted. "They've been wiped out, and most memories of them were erased. I only found scraps of info in old books. When I asked Renji, he just said he was from the Kagami Clan—nothing more."
Suddenly, Ren asked, "Do you know anything about the Celestial beings and those five reality-bending powers?"
"I know Celestial beings gave us magic," Akari said, "but not much else. There was nothing about five powers in the books I read."
Ren thought, Strange. I remember reading it clearly. Was it a different book? Or maybe... she read a version with missing info?
He looked at Renji and thought, If Renji has one of those powers... maybe his ancestors were chosen. But Televore doesn't sound like it can bend reality. I was expecting something like Time Stop or Creation Magic. Maybe humans just gave these powers fancy names to make them sound special.
Akari spoke up, "We can research all this later. For now, let's enjoy our break in this village."
Ren shook his head. "No. I'm going to train with Renji. I need to be ready for war."
Hayato added, "We should all focus on leveling up our magic. This is the perfect time. I'll train with Ryota. Akari, take care of Morvon."
Akari sighed. "I wanted to relax... but fine. Come on, Morvon."
And with that, everyone walked off to train during their peaceful break.
