Chapter 28 - Beings of Shift

Age 753 – February 22nd

Far across the stars, beyond the pull of any single sun, the Children of the Shift stirred.

[West City – Capsule Corp Grounds]

The morning sun filtered through thin clouds, casting golden light over the familiar courtyard behind Capsule Corp. Mori, now thirteen, moved with silent precision across the smooth terrain of the training simulator. His blue-white eyes narrowed, sweat glistening on his brow as he danced between invisible opponents.

Each movement was sharp but fluid, a pattern that didn't exist before—Flow of Life, he called it.

Inspired by the dancers he'd watched months ago, the style had evolved into something unique. A fusion of martial focus and poetic grace. His kicks spun like a ballet turn, legs slicing through air with barely a sound. Arms weaved defensive arcs, guided not by brute instinct but rhythm. Not a single motion was wasted.

Inside the capsule's control room, Dr. Briefs observed through a screen, quietly impressed. Mrs. Briefs passed by with a tray of snacks, humming a happy tune, while Bulma—older now, slightly taller and just as loud—watched from a nearby staircase, arms folded and eyes sharp with curiosity.

Mori didn't even notice them. His mind was elsewhere. His breath matched the rhythm of his movements. His heart beat in harmony with his flow. He was no longer just a kid who had fallen to Earth—he was building something of his own. Something beyond seals, beyond rage. A style that felt like him.

[Mount Paozu – Kame House Training Grounds]

On a rocky outcrop near the dense forests of Mount Paozu, Goku (15 now, leaner, still wild-eyed) grinned between exchanges with Krillin. The two shot forward like blurs, fists clashing in shockwaves that stirred birds from the trees. Behind them, Master Roshi lounged in a beach chair, sipping something fruity, muttering with approval behind his sunglasses.

Their training was intense but structured. Goku hadn't forgotten the feeling of that clash with Mori. It lingered like an itch in his muscles, a pull in his gut. He'd never felt that strong before. Never felt that… alive.

So he pushed harder. Every punch had intent. Every dodge came with a grin. That match had awakened something in him. And he wanted more.

[Planet Vampa – Deep Within the Caves]

Twin howls echoed through the canyon.

Broly and Cumber, now seventeen, stood on opposite cliffs, their ki surging like twin storms. The spar had turned brutal. Ground cracked beneath their feet, and trees were flattened in wide arcs around them.

Broly's eyes flickered green as he lunged across the air, trading explosive blows with his brother. Cumber responded in kind, his aura wild and primal, darker than his twin's but just as intense.

Paragus stood nearby, arms crossed, brow furrowed with growing concern. "They're going too far again…"

But he didn't stop them.

He couldn't.

Because despite the risk, he knew that this was necessary. They were Children of the Shift—just like the mysterious name whispered across the stars. And their growth, though chaotic, was accelerating faster than he ever imagined.

[Out in the Galactic Rim – Planet Zallion]

Another explosion rocked the sky. Vegeta, now eighteen, walked through the smoking rubble of the latest battlefield, arms crossed, armor smeared with ash and blood. Behind him, Nappa and Raditz cleaned up the stragglers.

"I want this planet secured within the hour," Vegeta ordered, his voice cool and devoid of emotion.

He looked to the twin moons in the sky above, feeling nothing for the world he'd just claimed. It was all just a step—one of many.

He had no idea others like him were rising. No clue of Goku's rapid ascent. No whisper of Mori or the twins.

But the wind carried something strange today. He paused for a moment, eyes narrowing. He felt a shift.

"Prince Vegeta?" Nappa asked.

"…It's nothing," Vegeta muttered, turning away.

But deep inside him, something stirred. A dormant instinct. A feeling his life will change within a blink of a eye.

[Back on Earth – Capsule Corp, Later That Night]

The Briefs family sat around a quiet dinner table. Laughter filled the air. Mori sat between Bulma and Dr. Briefs, listening as Mrs. Briefs gushed about her latest garden project. They'd gone out again earlier that week—this time to a zoo, where Mori had been fascinated by the way animals moved. The kangaroos especially.

"They bounce without even thinking about it," he'd said. "Like it's second nature."

Dr. Briefs had nodded. "Sometimes instinct is the best foundation for evolution."

That stuck with him.

Later that night, long after everyone had gone to bed, Mori stood beneath the moon, breathing slowly.

The simulator clicked on as he stepped inside. His hands glowed faintly with blue ki as he fell into stance, visualizing a series of motions—some old, some new.

Each kick mimicked the dancers.

Each twist, the kangaroo's bound.

Each punch, his own creation.

He moved like flowing water, smooth and deliberate. The air hummed with ki. No longer wild. No longer erratic.

He was the flow.

In the corners of space, unseen by even the Briefs, a strange energy shimmered faintly. The Big Gete Star, ever observant, continued recording data. Watching the boy shape his power into art.

There was no interference.

Only... interest.

And patience.
