Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: Level 4 Reality Twister - Devil Girl, Walking Disaster!

"Attilan?" Professor X blinked, thinking he'd misheard.

Looking at Wolverine in surprise, he asked, "You mean something happened in Attilan? That's impossible!"

Even though Black Bolt is an Inhuman, Professor X was still well-acquainted with his power.

In fact, everyone knew how formidable Black Bolt, the King of Attilan, truly was. He was easily one of the strongest beings on Earth.

Not to mention, Attilan was no longer located in the eastern mountains.

"What exactly happened?" he asked.

Wolverine's expression darkened, and for once, fear was etched across his face.

"Feathers..." he muttered.

"What feathers?"

"A blanket of feathers." Wolverine swallowed hard and continued gravely, "That's the only transmission we received from Attilan. Then we lost all contact."

"Feathers?"

Professor X stiffened, as if pierced by a needle. A shiver ran down his spine.

He turned his head toward the nearest monitor, his voice growing more anxious.

"No... no!"

Panic flickered in his eyes before he forced himself to calm down.

"Whatever it is, we need to investigate what happened to Attilan immediately!" he ordered. "And if you encounter any creature made of white feathers and wings... don't engage. Just leave."

He didn't elaborate. The possibility that had crossed his mind was too terrifying to speak aloud.

Future Technology Building

Staring at the security footage filled with floating feathers, Peter Parker glanced toward James, who was casually playing with Gaea.

Scratching the back of his head, Peter mumbled, "That looks... oddly familiar."

Huh?

A single feather sat in the corner of the room—slender, white, and shimmering with a faint holy light.

Peter's eyes widened.

"No... no way it's connected, right?"

His gaze darted back and forth between James and the feather.

After a moment of internal struggle, Peter decided to brush the thought aside.

Nope. Impossible.

James was just a billionaire genius—not some cosmic anomaly.

And the feather? Just a regular feather... right?

With that rationalization, Peter's nerves settled.

[Live Broadcast - Site-17 Briefing Room]

The audience didn't have to wait long.

In the next scene, James appeared onscreen again, seated inside a high-level conference room.

Around him were several researchers in white lab coats, including some very recognizable faces—like Dr. Clef and Dr. Kondraki.

As usual, the two were arguing, even though two other staff members sat between them.

"Pentobarbital isn't working anymore! And this is the containment plan you endorsed!" Dr. Clef's voice rang out in frustration.

"I get it. You all think the job of terminating Keter-class entities is beneath you."

He sneered. "But it turns out not everyone can handle what you call a 'lowly task.'"

His statement sparked pushback from several researchers.

On the sidelines, James sat with Lois and Zyn.

Lois yawned and picked at her ear. "Five years! We've been here for five years and we still don't have a proper procedure for containing 239?"

The live stream audience was momentarily stunned.

Five years?

Had that much time really passed?

Looking closely, it was clear. Lois had aged, and Zyn had matured.

But James? Time seemed to have left no trace on him.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters

While most viewers fixated on the passage of time, Nick Fury honed in on something else.

"Did he just say... 239?" Fury blinked. "As in... SCP-239?"

The agents in the room were silent for a beat, then erupted in panic.

"You mean the Level 4 Reality Bender?"

"Holy hell—we forgot there was a damn ticking time bomb in Site-17!"

"The one that could puppet the whole site like it's a stage play? Are they trying to execute her?"

"Are they insane?!"

Back in the feed, Zyn added his voice to Lois's complaint.

"Yeah, and the worst part is, when she's awake, her self-preservation instincts make her nearly invincible."

He turned to James. "Didn't you file a project proposal on 239? What did Dr. Kondraki say?"

James casually raised the folder in his hand. "He approved it yesterday."

Lois snorted. "Of course he did. That guy always dumps the impossible cases on you."

James just smiled without responding.

Meanwhile, the attention of everyone watching was drawn to the file James held.

Ever since he joined Site-17, there had been endless speculation about SCP-239.

Now, finally, the mystery was about to be revealed.

All eyes locked onto the screen as James opened the folder.

[Project Name: Devil Girl]

[Item #: SCP-239]

[Object Class: Keter]

The chat room exploded.

"Oh my god—it is 239!"

"Level 4 Reality Bender confirmed as Keter-class?!"

"'Devil Girl' sounds about right if she can puppet an entire site!"

"Wait... she's just a child?!"

[Special Containment Procedures]:

SCP-239 is to be housed in a single-occupancy room containing one bed, an electrocardiograph, and an IV drip filled with pentobarbital mixed with [DATA EXPUNGED]. The solution must be replenished daily.

She is never to leave her containment area.

The room's walls must be lined with telekill-lead alloy.

Only Level 2 personnel may access her area.

All security personnel must wear telekill helmets (SCP-148).

Her real name is Sigurrós Stefánsdóttir.

Under no circumstances should SCP-239 be awakened. Any personnel attempting to do so will be terminated immediately.

Nick Fury rubbed his chin.

"So the pentobarbital is what keeps her in a deep sleep... and it's losing effectiveness. No wonder there's an emergency meeting."

Natasha crossed her arms. "But... why can't she be awake?"

Before Fury could respond, more data appeared on the screen.

[Description]:

SCP-239 appears to be an 8-year-old girl, approximately 1 meter tall and 20 kilograms. She has shoulder-length blonde hair and gray-green eyes that occasionally glow.

The subject emits a new type of radiation, designated Fu.

At low levels, Fu radiation is harmless—but at high levels, it can disintegrate matter at the subatomic level.

A physicist in the room dropped his clipboard in shock.

"Subatomic disintegration? Are you serious?!"

Adjusting his glasses, he continued, wide-eyed.

"If she becomes excited, she could theoretically disassemble a person into trillions of subatomic particles."

The room went silent.

He quickly did some math, then blurted, "The energy required to break a human body down like that is 100 trillion joules—roughly equivalent to one million tons of TNT."

"But if she's breaking down quarks, we're talking about 330 megatons of energy—equivalent to temperatures a million times hotter than the sun's core!"

The physicist nearly fainted.

Physics, as far as he was concerned, no longer made sense.

Nick Fury nodded slowly, now grasping just how powerful a Level 4 Reality Bender truly was.

A walking natural disaster.

On cue, more information appeared onscreen.

[SCP-239 appears capable of doing anything she consciously intends to do.]

In short: if she is awake and desires something, it becomes reality.

The live stream chat room fell silent.

Even the noisiest Marvel fans stopped typing.

"What... did we just read?"

"She can do anything she wants?"

"Dr. Clef wasn't exaggerating—he was understating!"

"This isn't superpower stuff—this is divine territory!"

Asgard

Loki stared at the screen, mouth slightly agape.

"She can do anything she wants...?"

For the first time, he questioned his own identity.

Am I truly a god?

"If she's just a reality bender," he muttered, "then I'm still a god... right?"

But doubt had already taken root.

Could I beat her...?

He didn't answer. The thought lingered like a shadow.

Kamar-Taj

"Oh my god! If she can do whatever she wants, does that mean I don't need to learn spells anymore?"

"Can she play all day without limits?!"

The apprentices were ecstatic.

The Ancient One, however, wore a grim expression.

To a child, such power seemed like fun.

But in truth, it was catastrophic.

She looked at the screen, troubled.

Even she wasn't sure the Foundation had a plan that could contain something like this.

Back in S.H.I.E.L.D., Natasha sat quietly, realizing how foolish her earlier question had been.

Why not wake her up?

Because if you did, you'd basically hand the world over to a nuclear time bomb disguised as a child.

[Additional Information]:

SCP-239 appears capable of altering or creating life forms.

For example: when a D-class accidentally hurt her, she wished him to disappear—and he vanished.

Later, feeling guilty, she wished him back—and he reappeared unharmed.

Her influence appears limited to things within her field of vision.

By now, no one in the Marvel universe was laughing.

Even gods and sorcerers were frightened.

And the world had a new name to fear:

Devil Girl.
