The magics awakened by several people were very useful and suited to their abilities, especially Zed's. In fact, this kind of magic was the most enviable. After all, if you couldn't win a fight, you could just escape — survivability was maximized.
Later, Erina and the others asked Mirajane and Makarov about awakening magic. After all, they still had family here, and this was something even Senzaemon and others quietly envied.
But they didn't dare ask openly. It was Erina who raised the question.
"Innate awakening of magic isn't common," Makarov explained. "Not everyone can awaken magic naturally. It is possible to learn it after birth, but even that requires talent. Don't you people have something called Gourmet Cells? Why ask me this?"
Makarov was puzzled. Logically speaking, Zed and the others had Gourmet Cells, and they had all awakened magic one after another. Why would they need to ask about this?
"Master, obtaining and awakening Gourmet Cells is extremely difficult," Mirajane reminded gently. "Much harder than awakening magic innately. We got Gourmet Cells under special conditions. That experience can't be easily repeated."
Back when they were still in the Gourmet World, everyone had asked Zed a question: if they became his partners, could they also receive Gourmet Cells?
Zed had known it was impossible. Even though he'd explained the role of Food Luck, the truth was that the system was the one granting Gourmet Cells. He'd been in the Gourmet World for a long time, yet never received a partner recognized by the system. That route was clearly not viable.
Still, Zed pretended to give it a try. The result, naturally, was a failure. That path — receiving Gourmet Cells through Zed — was cut off completely.
That's why Erina had decided to ask Makarov about the possibility of awakening magic instead.
"Sister!"
Just when Senzaemon and the others looked disappointed, the door burst open. It was Mirajane's brother, Elfman, rushing in — currently in a Take over state.
Normally, as a non-S-class wizard, Elfman wasn't allowed on the second floor. But he didn't care about rules anymore. His sister had been missing for days, and he had nearly lost his mind.
He had just heard that his sister returned. To get there faster, he had used his Takeover magic to take on the form of a fast wolf-like beast.
"Elfman, I'm fine. Cancel your Take over state first."
Mirajane didn't blame her brother's rude entrance. She understood his panic — she had been missing for days. He must have been overwhelmed with worry.
Makarov also didn't scold Elfman for barging into the second floor. He understood the situation well. Rules existed, but people had feelings.
After hearing his sister's voice and confirming she was fine, Elfman deactivated his Takeover magic.
"Sister, where have you been these days? I didn't think you'd just disappear!"
Elfman was nearly in tears. After all, he had already lost one sister before. He couldn't bear losing another.
"..."
Mirajane didn't hide the truth from him. While the matter of crossing into another world couldn't be made public, she could still tell her brother.
"Another world? That's possible? Then… Lisanna..."
Elfman was shocked, but just like Mirajane had initially suspected when she arrived in the Gourmet World, he thought of the same thing — maybe their sister Lisanna had fallen into another world too.
"I've already thought of that possibility," Mirajane said. "I asked Mr. Zed to help me search all IGO databases for anyone named Lisanna in that world… but there was nothing."
Zed had requested information through the IGO. If Lisanna existed in any of the member nations, she would've been found. But she wasn't listed.
"I see..."
Elfman's mood dropped again.
"You don't have to be too discouraged. Maybe your sister didn't fall into my world."
Zed's words drew everyone's attention.
"Did Mr. Zed discover something?" Mirajane asked, her voice trembling. She had spent some time with Zed and knew he never spoke without reason.
Zed nodded. "Just now, after awakening my magic, I sensed another parallel world connected to yours. The magic energy there is thin, but I sensed an aura similar to yours. It's possible your sister ended up there."
He was half-lying. It was true that he had sensed the Edolas continent through his magic. But he hadn't really felt Lisanna's aura — he just knew from the original work that she existed there.
"There's a parallel world connected to ours?!"
Makarov was stunned. This was unexpected. But in truth, Mystogan had always kept it a secret. He never told anyone in Earthland about his origin — Edolas.
He knew very well that if people discovered Edolas had been siphoning magic energy from Earthland, they would never forgive them.
" Mystogan's done well to keep this secret," Makarov muttered.
"I've confirmed it," Zed said. "But my magic is still new and I'm unfamiliar with its full power. Give me some time. I'll try to open a path to that world."
He activated his space magic and tried to break through the dimensional wall. He thought it would take time, but the barrier was weaker than expected — it shattered like glass.
A swirling portal appeared before them.
"It's open. That's the entrance to the parallel world."
"Then let's go check if Miss Mira's sister is really there!" said Rukia.
"I'll go too. Elfman, you stay behind. The others stay too!" Makarov ordered. Elfman wanted to protest — he was desperate to find his sister.
"But I—"
"You'll only get in the way. Stay and take care of the guests."
Before Elfman could argue further, Mirajane released a burst of power. Feeling her strength, Elfman knew he couldn't win the argument. Her powers had fully returned.
Though he was reluctant, he stayed behind.
The group then passed through the portal and entered Edolas.
"This is... a parallel world. The magic energy is so thin!" Makarov exclaimed after arriving.
"I can't use magic!" he added, alarmed.
Mirajane tried too, but her magic worked — she entered Satan Soul form successfully.
"Why can I still use mine?"
"Let me check," Zed said. In the original work, people from Earthland couldn't use magic in Edolas unless they took recovery medicine from Mystogan.
Zed used his soul power to scan Makarov and soon discovered the cause.
"Because magic energy here is so low, the magic in your body entered a dormant state. In this condition, it can't be activated."
"So that's it... My magic works because it merged with my Gourmet Cells, so it's not ordinary magic anymore," Mirajane concluded.
Zed nodded. Their energy wasn't just magic — it was a higher-level force altered by Gourmet Cells.
He then injected energy into Makarov's body, forcing his magic back into an active state — similar to how Mystogan's medicine worked.
"My magic's back! Thank you."
"You're welcome. Now let's find the source of that aura — it's over there."
Zed led them to a large tree. In front of it stood a sign: Fairy Tail.
"Is that... Fairy Tail?" Makarov and Mirajane were stunned. They didn't expect to see their guild in another world.
"This is your parallel world. Naturally, there's another version of you here — though they may different."
The door to Fairy Tail opened. A guild member appeared, wary at first — until he saw Mirajane.
"Wait… aren't you already inside?!"
"What's going on?"
The next voice belonged to Lucy — the version from Edolas, who was a senior member in this world.
"There are two Mirajanes?!"
Her shout brought more members to the entrance. All stared at the Mirajane from Earthland, then turned to the one in their own guild.
"Sister Mira! Master!"
A young voice called out emotionally. It was Lisanna.
She came from Earthland, so she immediately recognized her sister. Her heart raced. Her true sister had come to find her.
But panic gripped her too. After all, this world already had its own version of Mirajane. And Lisanna from Edolas had died.
Lisanna had planned to remain in Edolas, thinking she couldn't return. But seeing her real sister again, she didn't know what to do.
Just as Lisanna froze in confusion, Mirajane gently grabbed her hands.
"It's time to say goodbye, Lisanna. Thank you for staying strong all these years."
Clearly, both Mirajane and Elfman had already realized the truth. She was their sister — they could feel it from the start.
