It didn't take long for Elena to arrive back at Victor's mansion. The moment she stepped inside, Stella met her at the door with baby Sophie resting quietly in her arms.
"Elena?" Stella said, her eyes narrowing at the look on Elena's face. "Didn't Victor come home with you?"
Elena shook her head, her brows pulled together with visible worry. "No… I was hoping he came here straight."
Stella blinked, adjusting Sophie on her hip. "What happened? You look like you've just seen a ghost. Talk to me."
Elena took a deep breath, then sat down on the nearest couch, burying her face in her hands for a moment before speaking.
"It was supposed to be dinner. Just dinner," she began slowly. "But I knew the moment I walked into that restaurant—decorated lights, closed off to everyone—he was planning something emotional."
"Victor?" Stella asked, already half-guessing.
Elena nodded. "He wanted to talk about the kiss. About what it meant."
Stella raised a brow. "And what did you tell him?"
