Chapter 7 - Death and Imitation

The news from the church was expected...but still shocking to them.

Grandpa had passed away. There was an unknown reason...the only reason they could come up with was shock after losing the Civic Eye. The only thing they could get as a final wish, was to be buried at his home, the church wanted to do the last rites themselves, but Isaac disagreed and buried him right next to the entrance of their house.

A simple stone gravestone, and a small mound at their house.

Isaac and Birger both cried that day...but...not for long.

No matter how long they wanted to grieve they couldn't. The loan couldn't be paid itself.

They were both currently sitting in the living room, looking at the table where they had scroungened up all their available finances.

A few stacks of notes. That's it. That's all they had. Not enough to pay the loan.

Birger looked at Isaac as he just stared at the notes. "We should just go and do something for Anees, shouldn't we?" Said Birger.

Isaac just looked back at him, and then brought the small piece of paper on which Anees had written and then handed it to Birger. "Do whatever you want. But I'm not coming." Said Isaac.

Birger got up and said "Well, at least it'll get us more money than your art." As he left to go to Anee's house.

After having to ask alot around town, Birger finally found the house. It seemed to be a large house on the outskirts of the town, and there seemed to be many people moving around the house, he felt that he needed to ask around more for Anees...thankfully he was standing just outside in the courtyard.

"Anees!" Birger called out.

"Hey! You finally came by huh? Where's the smart guy?" Asked Anees.

"Oh...Isaac didn't want to come..." said Birger.

"Oh OK! We won't need him anyway when we've got you!" Said Anees as he dragged Birger into the house.

There were many people inside the house, moving around, and the rooms were filled people possibly continuing the imitation business.

Anees led Birger towards the living room, where a grandfather was sitting...smoking something.

"Anees! Are you letting another outsider into the business again?!?" Said the grandfather.

"Grandpa! Grandpa! Don't worry, he's a good friend of mine!" Said Anees, as he tried to convince his grandfather.

"He better be, because the last time you brought in someone, he fucked us over!" Yelled Grandpa.

"Don't worry, he gets a little agitated sometimes." Said Anees to Birger as he sat him down.

"Okay, um...we'll get you a job in the shoe forgery business and...hey! C'mere!" Said Anees as he pulled a little girl into his lap.

"Aww, who's this little girl?" Asked Birger.

"She's my niece, did you know that literally everyone here is family?" Said Anees.

Birger, trying to ignore the weird habits of Anee's extended family responded, "Uh...no."

"Anyways...what was I saying...oh right! You'll get one at the shoe imitation, and I'll get the smart guy contacted Sketch Manja." Said Anees.

"Who's Sketch Manja?" Asked Birger.

"He's the real deal!" Said Anees.

"...what's your name, little girl?" Asked Birger, clearly knowing that Isaac would not work for a guy ho called himself Sketch Manja.

"Hehe...honey, go to your mom, we don't talk to idiots anyway..." said Anees as he sent his niece away.

Anees then led Birger to the shoe department, where he was introduced to many of Anee's siblings, where he only got one word of advice "The more work you do, the more work you get." Birger hadn't really agreed to join yet, so he went back home, to talk to Isaac.

When he reached home, he found Isaac was in his room...sketching something.

"Hey Birger, how'd it go?" Asked Isaac.

"Okay. He's saying I should join the fake shoe department...and he wants to get you to work with some guy called Sketch Manja..." Said Birger, as Isaac didn't respond.

"Hey...what are you sketching?" Asked Birger, trying to change the subject.

Isaac turned the page towards Birger, revealing the sketch was...

Of a 500 Finn Note.
