"Come here, shadow Lord. I know you are there."
The spear he used to pierce the man was gone, and shadow Lord dragged himself forward, one of his legs wounded. His brows were furrowed as he stared at Severin. "You are indeed a sly bastard. You put your name in the story you told me. A story of a weapon you can control. So, you've been trying to betray Anansi since you met him?"
"Was it not the same for you?"
"No. My shadow is mostly independent from me most of the time. I left it inside Anansi and he just goes around collecting stories with his memories intact. I didn't even know it met you for a long time. I would have killed and dragged your body over," shadow Lord said easily.
Severin frowned at him. His calm expression had since been worn away, his face was pulled together as if he was in pain. But his eyes, the blue, were slowly turning red. "Then I'm glad something like that did not happen."
They stood there in silence for a while. They looked at each other.
