Chapter 4 - Aura & Mana

'That must mean "He is so young yet looks so handsome!". Ok. Now I understand pretty much everything they say.' Karl nodded his tiny head which triggered gasps and moans from the young maids around him.

"Aw~ Young Master is so cute~"

"Right!"

"Hey you two! Maybe young master wants to sleep so do not make noise!" Helda reprimanded the two younger maids as she entered the room.

'No I am not feeling sleepy but you will never know.' Karl mentally sighed as he closed his eyes falling deep in thought rethinking everything, trying to find a solution to his current dilemma.

'It took me 3 weeks after I had planned, to learn arhius completely, 1 week more than the plan, but on the bright side I can now control ether anywhere inside my body, though the process is very delicate and tiring.

And now I... need some other thing to pass time!

After people are able to control ether, the next process involves converting it into mana or aura.

People who use mana are called mages while those who use aura are called aryas.

Mages then create mana rings to store mana and aryas form aura core.

To form an aura core one needs certain amount of muscle development so I can not form an aura core till I can exercise.

I can form mana ring as according to the novel it just needs intelligence but if I form a mana ring right now... I will not be able to form an aura core.

My path is neither that of a mage nor of an arya.

I am going to become an Arhat.

Arhats are people who can use both mana and aura.

Sounds overpowered but it is not... at least for others.

Being an arhat means you have to form and develop both a mana ring and an aura core which is twice the work compared to that of a mage or arya.

And another important thing needed to become an arhat is to have equal amount of mental and physical potential.

The higher the mental potential, the more talented for a mage you are and the higher the physical potential, the stronger of an arya you can become.

However for becoming an arhat one does not need high potential and rather needs equal potential.

An arhat has to keep the mana and aura in the body in somewhat equal amounts and failure to do so means... death.

An arhat who failed to maintain the equilibrium will literally explode.

So yeah, even if people have equal physical and mental potential, becoming an arhat is slow as fuck and risky as fuck.

The risk stays even for me but not the slowness part.

In the novel, Karl and Isurt both were arhats and instead of being slower than others, they were so talented that their growth was breaking records!

And I also know of some cheats from the novel that will help with my growth as an arhat so every reason to become an arhat.

Regarding the risk, I will just take is slow and safe. Being a duke's eldest son, no real reason for me to hurry like Isurt did.

Choosing to become a mage just because I am feeling bored is the stupidest decision I can make right now.

I need to think of something else to do until I can form a mana ring and an aura core which will happen when I turn... three.

At the age of three, nobles go through a ceremony where their mental and physical potential are tested and thereafter they are helped with forming the core or ring.

Another reason I am lucky to be a noble, as unlike nobles commoners are poor, making most unable to pay to check their potential.

So commoners start later than nobles and just take the path in which they feel they are good at which can be very wrong.

Just because someone is frail or stupid as a child does not mean that he does not have potential for growth.

Such basic facilities maintain the gap between the nobles and the commoners.

I loved to laze around even in my previous life but I had a freaking phone to pass time!

Karl in the novel was also a fucking lazy person but was still stronger than Isurt until Isurt got-'

Karl's mind went blank as he recalled something.

'...Did I.... overlook such an important thing?' Karl thought, confused.

'Well I mean- No! No excuses fucker! Crying out loud for fuck's sake!'

Just as Karl was cursing at himself for forgetting a certain piece of information his body was suddenly lifted up.

As he opened his eyes, Karl found out the identity of the doer.

"Ooh did I wake up my sweet baby?" Martha cheered as she took Karl out of the crib, in her arms.

'Granny not the time to play! Come later.'

Karl started shaking his body as he tried to go back into the crib.

"What happened baby? Don't you like going with me?" Martha tilted her head at Karl's unexpected reaction.

'Not now, put me back or I will cry!' Karl thought to himself as he started pulling back harder.

"We are going for a walk. There will be lots of shiny things on the way. You like shiny things right baby?"

Martha started asking random questions while patting Karl on the back as she started walking out of the room.

'STOP!!!' Karl shouted mentally as he started to shriek loudly, making crying noise.

"Oh! You didn't poop so are you hungry?" Martha nodded in relief, misunderstanding Karl's cry as the only time he cried was when he pooped or peed or was hungry.

"I will take you to Ercia first then." Martha nodded to herself as she increased her pace.

'Nooo!' Karl quickly went quiet as going to Ercia would only mean wasting more time.

"Huh? Are you not hungry?" Martha tilted her head at Karl's silence as he generally never stopped crying till he was fed or cleaned.

Karl just lied silently, making her scratch her assumption of him being hungry as she continued walking to her initial destination, still confused at Karl's initial tantrum.

***

Karl, being held by Martha, entered the living room of the manor where he had met the priest when he was just born.

Before he could admire the luxurious decoration of the room which felt fascinating even after having seen it before, his eyes fell on the person sitting in one of the chairs.

There was a beautiful woman, with long white hairs and yellow eyes which seemed to glow as she looked at Karl.

'She must also be from the family but why is she here? Wait, why am I here? Weren't we going for a walk, granny?' Karl thought as he shifted his gaze to Martha with a slight frown.

Seeing Karl's eyes filled with curiosity and his slight frown Martha smiled at him. She misunderstood his frown, and thought he was scared of the unknown lady.

"Don't worry cutie, Cera here is going to help you. You can keep looking around. See that gem shines so brightly."

Martha tried to change Karl's attention to something else as she pointed at a huge ruby like gem embedded in a wall.

'Cera? Help me? What help do I need? What does she think is wrong with me?'

Karl's mind was instead focused on guessing what was going on.

Seeing Karl keeping his focus on Cera, Martha chuckled wryly and sat opposite to Cera.

"Aww~ He looks so cute!" Cera said looking at Karl with sparkling eyes.

"So we will get a discount?" Martha asked with a grin.

"Ahem! I can guarantee to make the best clothes for him." Cera coughed as she continued looking at Karl.

"Talk about being cheap." Martha made a jab which Cera simply ignored.

Karl after understanding who Cera was and what he was here for could not help but get more annoyed.

'Wait, wait, wait! How is this a walk granny! You lied to me! I was trying to solve such a big problem and here you have brought me for some stupid cloth selection!'

Karl glared at Martha with a frustrated look which she kept misunderstanding as his fear for Cera.
