Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Near the campfire,

the Uchiha, all dressed in hooded black robes, lowered their heads. Red firelight reflected in their eyes, their expressions dark and sorrowful.

Uchiha Yu's face remained calm.

In his right hand, he gripped the black blade, Dark Moon; with his left, he formed the single-handed "Dragon" seal.

This was the final seal for a Wind Release.

A few of the Uchiha, snapping out of their grief, stared blankly at their captain, Uchiha Yu, confused and dazed.

In the shinobi world, generally speaking, ordinary people are born with multiple chakra natures.

When becoming a ninja, they select one or two chakra attributes to train, mastering the transformation of chakra nature.

The more proficient one becomes in chakra nature transformation, the stronger that attribute's jutsu becomes.

To become a Jonin, the minimum requirement is to master two chakra natures proficiently.

For the Uchiha, who awaken the Sharingan—

Once their ocular power is strong enough, with sufficient tomoe, the Sharingan comes with a built-in ability to copy ninjutsu.

By observing many techniques, Uchiha born with all five chakra attributes could much more quickly master the nature transformations of all five elements.

Yu withdrew from his thoughts and focused calmly on Dark Moon.

The prerequisite to release Wind Release was to simulate the chakra's nature into "wind"—using the properties of air pressure to give the chakra extremely high penetrative and slicing capabilities.

The Dragon seal was completed.

The chakra refined within Yu's body coursed rapidly through his chakra pathways, beginning to take on the nature of wind, surging toward his throat.

Just like when he had condensed fire-nature chakra before.

Yu guided this stream of wind-nature chakra into his right hand.

He could clearly feel the high-speed flow compressing into the chakra pathways of his right arm.

His right hand throbbed faintly with pain—

as if a thousand needles were piercing it.

Dark Moon, sensing the wind-nature chakra through his skin, once again emitted a thick black mist, just as it had before.

The mist wrapped around Yu's right arm.

Through the skin, it absorbed the chakra and slowly infused it into the blade of Dark Moon.

The pain in his right arm vanished.

Buzz——

The once pitch-black Dark Moon suddenly began to tremble.

Its blade, thin as a cicada's wing, now flowed with drifting, ethereal black mist shaped by wind currents.

The blade lightly vibrated at high frequency, its appearance subtly distorted, like rippling particles.

At this moment, Dark Moon seemed sharp enough to slice even the air itself.

Its extreme sharpness became its most visible trait.

For a moment, the surrounding air currents surged.

The Uchiha, previously steeped in sorrow, suddenly felt the sharp edge that appeared in the atmosphere.

They snapped their heads up and stared at Dark Moon, their pupils shrinking in shock.

Yu blinked.

Before the stunned eyes of the Uchiha, he calmly thrust the wind-infused Dark Moon into the campfire.

Buzz——

The flames shuddered.

To their amazement, the Uchiha saw that wherever the Wind Release-infused Dark Moon passed through the flames, it gave the illusion that the fire had been cleanly severed in two—and no longer burned.

At the spot where Dark Moon hovered, the flames shifted, broken apart by the concentrated air currents.

The Uchiha stared wide-eyed at Dark Moon, swallowing hard.

They had just witnessed their Captain Yu manipulating Dark Moon through the entire process.

It was obvious now:

Their Captain Yu could, through this mysterious black blade, complete both chakra nature and form transformation—

—meaning he didn't even need to form seals to unleash jutsu!

This was completely different from the ordinary method of simply infusing a weapon with wind chakra to increase sharpness.

Uchiha Yu slowly stood up, continuously channeling wind-nature chakra into Dark Moon, and walked toward the edge of the forest.

He took a sword-drawing stance, gathering power.

Suddenly—

a fierce wind whipped up.

Yu drew his sword, consuming about 10% of his chakra.

Through Dark Moon, he completed the chakra form transformation, unleashing a wind release chakra slash sharpened to the extreme.

Compared to Fire Release, which naturally carried high-temperature burning effects,

Wind Release, with its sharpness and cutting force, was better suited for ranged projection.

Under the moonlight,

the pitch-black sword light slashed outward.

A wave of wind, dark as spilled ink, surged forth in a crescent arc.

Instantly, the wind whipped up dust and debris; even the trees of the forest trembled slightly.

Whoosh——

Yu sheathed his sword, his expression calm, exhaling a deep, steady breath.

The gathered Uchiha held their breath,

and, seeing that nothing happened immediately, they finally relaxed a little.

Just then—

Flap-flap!

Birds burst from the trees, startled into flight.

The beasts of the forest fled in panic.

And then—

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosive sounds, like detonating tags, echoed through the forest.

The trees struck by the black wind surge—regardless of their size—began exploding one after another, as if their insides were disintegrated by a dense penetrating force.

Not a single one was spared.

Yu's expression remained completely calm.

Just as he had anticipated:

Wind-infused Dark Moon was far better suited for long-range chakra form attacks.

"Was that Wind Release??"

Kurenai Yuhi, Mikoto Uchiha, and the others widened their beautiful eyes, their mouths slightly agape, hearts pounding wildly.

And then—

suddenly—

In the Uchiha's eyes, a plume of blue, rapidly swelling energy appeared, blazing from Yu's body, dazzling and radiant against the darkness of night.

Yu's pupils spun, and the pattern of the Yasakani appeared in his Sharingan.

Over the past few days of adapting,

he had already mastered the Mangekyō's ability to manipulate the minds of others—capable of brainwashing them or controlling their bodies.

As for chakra manipulation—

Yu had previously experimented with a method to make others suffer backlash from their own chakra.

Now, he was going to attempt to master the final ability innate to his Mangekyō:

The absorption of chakra!

As his deep-blue chakra burned across his body, under the guidance of the Mangekyō,

Uchiha Yu could clearly perceive that those marked by his Mangekyō around him were like prey trapped in a spider's web.

Threads spun by the Yasakani connected them all.

Yu's expression remained calm.

He closed his eyes.

Using the Mangekyō's marks as a medium, he forcibly siphoned chakra from the Uchihas, Kurenai Yuhi, and Nonoyu.

Everyone's bodies automatically began to gather chakra, and streams of chakra were steadily drawn into Yu's body.

The blue chakra streaming around Yu's body surged even more fiercely,

the energy blasting dust and dirt at his feet into the air, pressing down the surrounding grass in all directions.

He extracted half of everyone's chakra.

Then—

He drew his sword.

He swung it.

The slash tore into the night sky.

Instantly, a massive surge of black wind, spanning tens of meters, burst out like a full moon,

its overwhelming sharpness transforming it into a black ring that pierced straight through the heavens.

The strike seemed like a river of stars pouring down from the sky,

splitting the clouds that had covered the moon, creating a visible rift.

The gathered Uchihas felt their scalps tingle with numbness,

staring in disbelief at Yu's back.

Were those two slashes just now... really something a ninja could casually unleash!?

"As long as there's enough chakra,"

Yu thought quietly to himself, "this kind of Wind Release attack should even be able to cut through Susanoo's defense."

He sheathed his blade, retracted the Yasakani, and the blue streams of chakra around his body dissipated.

But he didn't stop channeling wind-nature chakra into Dark Moon.

The sword continued its faint trembling, its sharpness so extreme it was chilling.

Only this time,

by absorbing the others' chakra through the Yasakani,

Yu was providing a continuous charge to Dark Moon.

Which essentially meant—

Keeping the Uchihas nearby was like carrying portable chakra batteries.

Under the stunned gazes of the Uchihas,

Yu returned to his seat by the campfire,

and from the fire rack, he retrieved the roasted wild boar.

What happened next made all the Uchihas' eyes nearly pop out of their sockets, their hearts screaming in outrage—

Yu calmly used the Wind-infused Dark Moon to carefully and meticulously slice up the wild boar meat.

Wherever the blade passed, he barely needed any strength—

it cleanly separated bones and meat with precision and ease.

"Captain Yu, this..."

Uchiha Minami spoke up anxiously, wanting to stop him, but not knowing how to say it.

If the Uchiha clan still existed,

this mysterious black blade, with the potential it had just shown,

would absolutely have been revered as a clan heirloom.

It was probably on the same level as the ancestral Fan of Blazing Flame—

a true divine weapon.

And yet now...

this divine weapon was being used to carve meat!?

Unacceptable!

The honest and upright Uchiha Minami could no longer bear it.

He stood up decisively.

He had made up his mind—

he would do something for this divine weapon,

at the very least, he must stop the Captain from desecrating it!
