Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 - First Win

I took a quick glance at the first floor to see if I was in the clear. Seeing the floor empty, I took the backpack out and put it over my chest. Then I opened the zipper for easier access.

After doing it, I quickly grabbed the bike, carried it using all my strength, and went down to the first floor.

As I arrived, I looked around and saw no elephants. Looks like they were still distracted.

I put down the bike and came close to the exit.

I couldn't waste time opening the locked door, so I went through broken glass.

I slowly walked over the shattered glass while pushing the bicycle.

Exited the shop and without even wasting time, I hopped on the bicycle, even though it was hard with the backpack, and started pedaling in the opposite direction where the elephants were.

Since I didn't even look out for elephants when I exited the shop, I didn't see one of them being separated from others, and being 10 meters from me and staring at my soul.

TRRRRRMPHHH!

It screamed and called for others while charging at me.

Since I was away from it and had already started riding the bike, I had a chance of survival now.

As I expected, from the scream, other elephants gave up on messing with the toy and sprinted toward me.

I knew the way home from here, so I didn't need any navigation. I just pushed pedals as hard and as fast as I could.

TRRRRRMPHHH!

TRRRRRMPHHH!

They were still chasing me, but unlike before, the gap wouldn't close.

However, I couldn't rely on just speed, I had to trick them.

So I changed my direction and went to another street suddenly.

Before changing, I threw one of the toys over my head to distract them.

Shk-crack!

TRRRRRMPHHH!

TRRRRRMPHHH!

As the toy cracked, elephants startled and stopped for a second, which was more than enough for me.

After pedaling for a few seconds, I saw elephants making their way to the street I am on.

I threw another toy and went back to the main road.

Shk-crack!

This toy also broke, but the elephants didn't react to it. At least with a sound.

When I looked back for a split second, I saw that they didn't stop but got more furious. They were running toward me while wiping their big trunks with anger.

"Oh, shit" I mumbled as I started to panic.

Toys would probably not work anymore. I knew elephants were smart and adaptive, but not this much.

Just in case, I continued to throw toys, more frequently this time.

I was changing my direction and entering different streets to make sure I could increase the gap as much as I could.

When I realized there were fewer than 100 meters before I reached my destination, I used whatever I had in my legs to push.

I put one hand in the backpack and started to throw all of the toys.

When I arrived in my neighborhood, I got excited and turned the bicycle too much to the right to enter the street.

The bicycle started to wobble, and I lost my balance after entering the street.

As I tried to balance myself, I made it worse and fell on the ground, and momentum dragged me on the asphalt for a meter or two, and I injured my left arm and leg.

TRRRRRMPHHH!

Elephants were getting closer, so I had no time to worry about injuries. I kicked the bicycle with my right foot and tried to stand up.

My leg was hurting, but I was sure it was more bearable than the pain of death.

I dragged my leg and came in front of my building.

As I entered the passcode of the building door, elephants entered the street.

TRRRRRMPHHH!

TRRRRRMPHHH!

Their screams brought the fear of death to me again, and with that, I entered the building.

I closed the door shut and rushed up the stairs.

Dang!

Dang!

Elephants were hitting the door, and they could break it any second!

With my injured leg, I arrived 5th floor and checked my back pocket with the hope of not losing my keys.

Luckily, they were not lost and were sitting in my pocket.

I put the right one in the lock and turned it.

Click!

I held the handle and opened the door.

As I stepped in, I took the backpack off and let myself fall on the ground.

My breath and heartbeat were on high alert, and they needed some time to calm down.

I turned my back to the floor, lifted my hands a little, and said:

"I did it!"

At that moment, I felt something in my pocket tingling. I was sure that it was paper, so without wasting time, I pulled it out and took a look at it.

"Congratulations on your win. Now, you are allowed to answer for the first time.

Who am I?"
