Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 : Joining Student council.

Student Council Room –

The golden moonlight filtered through the massive stained-glass windows of the council chamber. Iruma stood nervously before Ameri, hands at his side, as she reviewed a parchment scroll, her serious expression barely concealing something deeper.

"Iruma-kun, is your battler club still active?"

"Yes, we've been working on a few magical device prototypes—"

Ameri lowered the scroll with a sharp finality.

"It is now suspended."

"…Eh?"

Iruma blinked, dumbfounded. "Wait, why?!"

Ameri adjusted her glasses.

"Only third-years are allowed to run clubs now. The Magical Apparatus Battler will cease operations as of this moment."

"That's not fair! We were just—"

"—But."

She cut him off gently.

"That means the battler can be revived. You can start it all over again. But you'll need to train. Become worthy. Then you can request approval from the Student Council."

Iruma's shoulders sagged, but Ameri continued.

"Asmodeus has been reassigned to the Magecraft Club. Clara is in the Game Division."

"Wait, what?!" His voice cracked. "You moved them too?"

"The student council is responsible for balance. These changes are sudden, yes—but they are designed to help you grow."

She looked up at him, voice softening.

"Because… you're now the newest member of the Student Council."

Silence.

"…I'm what?"

"You already agreed."

"No, I didn't—"

Ameri's gaze sharpened.

"You said, and I quote: 'Whatever Ameri-san wants, I will do!'"

A flashback hit Iruma like a brick:

Weeks ago, under the cherry blossom tree, he'd mumbled those words, starry-eyed and flustered as Ameri asked for help translating "First Love Memories."

"Oh… sh*t."

His words escaped before he could catch them.

Ameri blinked.

"Language."

Next Morning –

The sun had barely risen. Birds chirped. Demons yawned. Iruma lay sprawled in bed, hair messy, mouth slightly open.

BZZZZT. BZZZZT.

His phone buzzed violently on the nightstand.

Eyes closed, hand fumbling, Iruma groaned.

"He…hello?"

"130 SECONDS LEFT TO ARRIVE, NEW MEMBER!!"

A powerful scream nearly shattered his eardrum.

"WAKE. UP. NOW!!"

"AaaaaAAHH—YES MA'AM!!"

The line cut.

Iruma stared at the phone, stunned.

Then everything happened at once:

He tripped getting out of bed.

Cracked his elbow on the desk.

Used Amenotejikara out of panic, warping himself into the bathroom mirror by accident.

Screamed again.

Washed his face.

Then stood still, staring at the reflection in the mirror:

He was wearing a brand new uniform—

A sharp, deep-crimson version of the school uniform with black accents and a silver pin of the Student Council.

"No… I'm not ready for this…"

Ali-san materialized on his shoulder, snickering.

"You told the girl what she wanted to hear. Classic mistake."

Iruma sprinted across the bridge, still buttoning his coat as the towering gates of Babyls opened slowly.

Ameri stood there already, arms folded, looking immaculate.

"Five seconds late."

"I'm sorry!!"

"No excuses. Follow me. You have six scheduled hearings today, two club evaluations, a uniform inspection, and I want you to re-transcribe the entire student roster. By hand."

Iruma blinked.

"I—I have class too—"

"Student Council is your class now."

Ali-san whispered inside him:

"You should've just said no, Lil-Iru."

Iruma sighed.

"This is going to be a long day."

Student Council Duty #1 – Feed the Demon Dog

Iruma stood before a gigantic, three-headed demon dog.

Each of its heads growled low, tongues lolling, teeth like swords. Its name? "Cerberdevour." A giant hellhound that guarded the student council's storage vaults… and apparently had to be fed daily.

Iruma gulped.

"Why is this my first job again…?"

A student council junior handed Iruma a sack the size of his own body.

"It likes spiced lava-boar meat. Don't drop it. And don't make eye contact with the middle head."

"Why just the middle?"

"Because it hates fear."

The middle head suddenly growled louder.

Iruma's hands shook.

Ali-san whispered in his ear with amusement:

"This is what happens when you swear loyalty to a demon girl."

He carefully approached. The dog loomed, massive and snorting smoke.

"O-Okay, good doggie… nice murder puppy…"

He held the sack forward. The left head snarled. The right one wagged its tail. The middle glared into Iruma's soul.

Then—CHOMP!

The meat was snatched in one gulp. Silence. Then… all three heads licked Iruma with molten slobber.

"GAHHHHH!!"

Iruma stumbled away, smoking slightly, hair standing up, but alive.

Student Council Office

Iruma dried his face and walked into the room, clutching a worn, translated volume of "First Love Memories".

Ameri sat behind her massive desk, glasses on, focused like a queen commanding her empire.

She looked up.

"You're late."

"Dog slobber emergency."

She nodded, calm and regal.

"Proceed."

Iruma opened the volume.

"So… um, last time, Rika-chan was about to confess under the sakura tree."

Ameri leaned slightly forward.

"Yes. Continue."

Iruma flipped the page.

"Then, the boy said he didn't know how to love, because… his past was too dark."

Ameri's fingers twitched. Her pupils sparkled.

"Darker than volume five!?"

"Apparently he was abandoned… then adopted by a gang leader who taught him how to punch buildings in half."

Ameri covered her mouth.

"That's so… deeply tragic."

They sat like that, alone. Calm. Peaceful.

Then suddenly—

BANG!!

The window behind Iruma slammed open with an explosion of confetti and smoke.

"IRUMA-KUN~!!"

Grandpa Sullivan appeared, floating outside the window, holding twenty shopping bags, glittering presents, plushies, snacks, a cape, and something glowing and probably illegal.

"I BROUGHT YOU PRESENTS FOR YOUR FIRST STUDENT COUNCIL DAY!"

Iruma jumped.

Ameri's calm expression shattered like glass.

In one motion, she slammed the window shut, locked the handle, and closed the curtain. The whole office vibrated.

Then she turned to Iruma, not missing a beat.

"You're in training."

Iruma blinked. "Huh?"

Ameri nodded, cold sweat on her brow.

"To outsiders, you are busy training. No one interrupts. Especially not doting grandfathers."

Outside the muffled sound of Sullivan yelling:

"MY BOY IS SO CUTE IN A COUNCIL UNIFORM! LOOK, OPERA, HE'S GLOWING!"

Opera's voice:

"He's glowing because the demon dog burned him."

Iruma sighed, smiling awkwardly. "This is going to be my life now, isn't it?"

Ameri flipped a page.

"Now… what happened to Rika-chan next?" [ Rika from first love memories Volume 15 ]

Elsewhere – Deep in the Shadows

In a dimly lit room filled with cursed scrolls, glowing runes, and half-burnt candles, a figure sat motionless.

The only light came from a single orb that floated in front of him—pulsing, whispering.

On the wall, dozens of photographs were pinned with crude red threads connecting them. At the very center, under a red circle drawn in blood, was a picture.

Azazel Ameri.

Her proud student council pose. Her sharp eyes. Her unwavering aura.

The shadowed figure leaned closer.

Click.

Click.

A cracked camera shutter echoed in the silence.

His voice was low, snake-like.

"Just a bit more… just a little more… until you fall."

He touched the picture gently, then dug his clawed nail into the center of Ameri's forehead.

"Perfect, beautiful, untouchable Ameri… soon everyone will see."

His eye glowed behind the shadows, pulsing violet like a cursed flame.

He muttered a spell under his breath.

Whispers of forbidden magic swirled around him, shaping into dozens of eyeball-like familiars.

The cursed energy coiled tighter.

"Azazel Ameri… you won't be a symbol of order for long. I will erase your name from Babyls."

He smirked under his cloak.
