Chapter 13 - Reggie clash

Reggie stepped into the vast region, his eyes widening in awe at the sheer scale of the landscape. The ground stretched out before him, a seemingly endless expanse of rough, rocky terrain. But it was the center of the region that drew his attention - a massive, square-shaped ring rose up from the earth, its edges sharp and defined.

As Reggie approached the ring, he noticed a strange, pungent smell wafting through the air. It was a scent he had never encountered before, a mix of earthy decay and something else... something almost sweet.

Suddenly, a massive shape emerged from the heart of the ring. Reggie's eyes went wide as he took in the sight of an elephant-like mana beast, its body a deep, burnished gray. But it was the wings that sprouted from its back that truly caught Reggie's attention - broad, feathery wings that seemed to shimmer and glow with a soft, ethereal light.

The mana beast stood on its two legs, its eyes fixed intently on Reggie. For a moment, the two simply stared at each other, the air thick with tension. Then, in a flash of movement, the mana beast launched itself into the air, its wings beating powerfully as it soared towards Reggie.

Reggie didn't hesitate. He summoned his construction magic, calling up a swirling vortex of rocks and debris to surround himself. The mana beast swooped down, its trunk-like snout snapping wildly as it tried to crush Reggie beneath its massive body.

But Reggie was no stranger to battle. With a swift gesture, he sent a shower of rocks hurtling towards the mana beast, striking it with a loud crack. The beast recoiled, its wings beating wildly as it stumbled through the air.

Reggie took advantage of the momentary distraction to make a run for it, dashing across the rocky terrain with a speed and agility that belied his rugged appearance. The mana beast gave chase, its wings pounding the air as it gained on Reggie.

The battle raged on, the two combatants clashing in a flurry of rocks and debris. Reggie's construction magic proved to be a powerful tool, allowing him to summon walls of stone and showers of rocks to drive the mana beast back.

But the beast was relentless, its sheer strength and power driving it forward despite the hail of rocks and debris. Reggie found himself on the defensive, using every trick in the book to keep the mana beast at bay.

Despite his best efforts, Reggie began to tire. The mana beast seemed to be endless, its energy and strength never faltering. Reggie stumbled, his feet scraping against the rocky ground as he desperately tried to keep his footing.

It was then that he remembered the words of his mentor - "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to act in the face of fear." Reggie steeled himself, drawing on a deep well of inner strength.

With a fierce cry, Reggie launched himself at the mana beast, his construction magic surging to new heights. The two clashed in a final, brutal exchange, their powers locked in a struggle that seemed to shake the very foundations of the earth.

And then, in an instant, it was over. The mana beast crashed to the ground, its body motionless. Reggie stood over it, his chest heaving with exhaustion.

But his triumph was short-lived. As he stood there, his vision began to blur and his legs gave way beneath him. Reggie felt himself falling, his consciousness slipping away into darkness.

When he came to, Reggie found himself lying on the mana beast's body, his head throbbing with pain. But as he struggled to sit up, he saw something that made his heart skip a beat - a shimmering portal, its edges glowing with a soft, ethereal light.

The portal seemed to pulse with energy, drawing Reggie in with an otherworldly allure. Without thinking, Reggie reached out and touched the portal's edge. As he did, he felt himself being drawn through the shimmering veil, into a realm beyond his wildest imagination.
