Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: Encounter

"Hmm, I know."

Liang Hongmei was worried, so she sewed a small pocket in Lin Yinghui's underwear and put the money inside. When he left, she also brought him some loose change to buy a train ticket.

Lin Wan and Liang Hongmei sent Lin Yinghui onto the train and then turned around to continue their business.

Her son needed money for school, so she had to earn more.

It was supposed to be a sunny day, but suddenly near noon, the weather changed drastically, and a heavy rainstorm began. Many people hid from the rain in the shop.

By midday, most people were hungry, and the smell of delicious dumplings wafting from the backyard made everyone even hungrier.

This shop wasn't expensive, so many people came to eat here, thinking of occasionally dining out. They flipped tables several times, and some even crouched on the ground eating directly from their plates.

People from the countryside didn't mind this at all.

After bustling for over two hours, the shop finally emptied when the rain stopped. Taking advantage of this moment, Lin Wan quickly tidied up the place.

"Girl, is there any food left?" A voice like a bell echoed into Lin Wan's ears from the doorway.

Turning her head, she saw four or five people wearing military uniforms walking in. "Yes, what would you like to eat?" Perhaps because of Han Yi, she had a particular fondness for these people.

It was undeniable that she liked people dressed in green uniform.

"Please sit down. Just tell us what you want to eat, we have everything in the shop."

"Give me a plate of meat dumplings, a dish of boiled peanuts, a dish of cold potato salad, and a cucumber salad." The middle-aged man in front glanced at the menu and said to Lin Wan. Then, he spoke to the soldiers beside him: "Order for yourselves what you want to eat."

"I'll have three servings of meat dumplings, and one vegetarian. Oh, right, where's Han Yi?" After one of them finished speaking, he shouted out the door, "Han Yi, what are you having?"

Upon hearing this name, Lin Wan's hand, busy writing, suddenly stopped. She looked toward the source of the voice outside, and saw a familiar figure in green walking toward her.

However, that familiar figure only glanced at her and said casually, "A serving of meat dumplings," and then sat down on a chair.

A soldier next to him, noticing Lin Wan's stare at Han Yi, teasingly winked at Han Yi. Han Yi ignored him, glanced at the shop's waiter, lightly coughed, and reminded her, "A serving of meat dumplings."

Only then did Lin Wan realize she had lost herself. She quickly bowed her head, scribbling on her notepad, "Alright, please wait a moment." Then she swiftly exited the shop and headed toward the backyard.

Outside their sight, she took deep breaths, trying to suppress the excitement that overwhelmed her calm.

She giggled excitedly a few times.

Clearly, they weren't supposed to meet until three years later. Why, why was she seeing him now?

He had just looked at her, he...

Thinking of this, Lin Wan quickly glanced at her attire. She was wearing her old floral short-sleeved shirt and wide dark blue pants. Thankfully, she didn't do a center-part braid today but instead made a four-strand braid and placed it to one side.

Lin Wan touched her face, realizing that lately she had been so busy with the shop that she hadn't looked in the mirror much. She wondered if her face was shiny and greasy.

Just as Lin Wan was bemoaning her appearance, a voice came from the shop.

"Girl, please serve us the dishes first."

"Alright... okay."

Lin Wan quickly snapped back to reality, hurried to the kitchen to give the menu to Liang Hongmei, and steadied her emotions in the yard.

"Stay calm, calm, don't mess up, make sure Han Yi doesn't dislike her. They don't know each other yet, she must leave a good impression on him." As she served the dishes, Lin Wan kept reminding herself internally, restraining herself from glancing at their table.

Three plates, Lin Wan filled them to the brim for them.
