As soon as the call connected, he coldly shouted into the phone, "I said there isn't any!"
There was silence for several seconds on the other end, then Ariel Morris's voice came through, weakly, "Arlo Seys, my relative is here..."
Arlo Seys recognized something was off in her tone, tightly pursing his thin lips, he blurted out, "Menstrual pain again?"
Ariel Morris softly uttered an "um," sounding slightly subdued.
Arlo Seys hung up immediately and headed outside, grabbing his keys from the entrance of the living room as he went out the door.
At the doorway, Ariel Morris heard the disconnected signal from the call, squatted on the ground, her eyes lost their light as her gaze dropped, and a bitter smile appeared on her lips.
